A.I. News I receive this mail at my yahoo account (i don't see it too often)
21/11/02
From: jasonovas<jasonovas@>
Object: Invitation to play A.I. Game replay
Hello.
The Volvamus team has built a replay system for the Y2000 A.I. Game
that was followed on Cloudmakers at Yahoo. The new title
is "AI.2142".
"The Citizen Kane of Online Games."
Replays will be starting after New Years.
If you want to participate in a test run, let us know. We have
approvals from Sean Stewart and Elan Lee and encouragement from
Microsoft. It's all on the up-and-up.
The puzzles have been changed. Questions are more "in-game." Hints
are readily available. We want people to be able to read through the
story.
Each stage has an unfolding plot-map.
The story is the same as in 2000. But maybe not 100%. Why always
have the same ending ? The same villains and twists ? This is the
internet.
Framing is much, much clearer. Individual players can follow the
events. It's more like a big movie or a mini-series that you can play
at your own pace. For example, messages from "other players" are
recreated as rewards for getting the clues.
The original system requiring hundreds of people to solve the
puzzles. Even with hints from the developers, players used brute
force cheating. It was tough on everyone.
We focus on the wonderful story instead of the puzzles!
Email works fine. Write and we'll get back. Cloudmakers is moribund,
with new memberships cut off, so the Volvamus replay team also made a
new site:

Jason E's writing style is remarkably familiar.
Hi, Sam.

What was the story for the year 2000 version? Was it the same as the one I played with the Cloudmakers in 2001?

i hate it when people mix up the years. like, this one time this moron i know once wrote a message to people saying something would start on december 1, 2000. i mean, if you mean 2002, then say 2002, not 2000!
morons.

Okay, I need to say something here.
A little while back, I was able to ask Elan Lee (the AI game project lead) personally about this 'replay.' He knew absolutely nothing about it . MS and Dreamworks legal would frown on such a thing to say the least.
That from the horse's mouth, straight across the restaurant table. Any replay, if it even exists , is in no way endorsed nor even known about by Elan, contrary to what has been stated.
Someone's either confused, mistaken or just plain stating falsehoods.

Maybe after being strongly disagreed with for a long enough time, eventually you just take being ignored as tacit approval?

I don't normally comment here, but I'd like to ask: you all agree he's a former mental patient off of his meds, right? Right?

I don't know enough about the first AI game or it's creators/endorsers to make comment here, but I say he's a bit on the defensive side, never trust someone who is begging you to believe he's on the "up and up ".
