[S2] [Cards set] #227 Collage

Guest Puzzle Architect {Paul McCormick}

BACK:
Quote:
"Come in," says another raven-haired woman siting in a leather armchair. She's studying a piece of silver metal, turning it over in her hands. "Sit down."

You gratefully fall into the chair beside her. and she passes you the piece of metal. "Do you recognise this?" she asks.

It's as long as your forearm and has a sharp edge running along one side. The shape suggests that it's a shard that has broken off from a larger piece of metal; one side is dull and pitted, while the other is brighter and smoother. It feels warm, somehow.

You don't recognise it in the least, but she insists that you keep trying. After a while, you both hear a faint clattering outside the door. Someone is approaching, and it is time to leave.

You nod to the woman, and open the opposite door.

the image as far as I can make out is of a black / night time view from arched window or door?

Edit - Topic for consistency - MikeyJ
Edit - removed image, I know it's MC's own, but was a bit concerned about the 60 dpi limit on card resolution - cheers MikeyJ

The pictures remind me of:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Gaudi's architecture

Don't have the card though, so can't make any guesses.

Gaudi's a possibility?

Is it just me or does it look like a kaleidescope image? Dunno

I am feeling that, the way there is a circle in the centre of the image looks as though some sort of lens may be needed to break down the items?

Well it is a Collage so maybe we just need to reconstruct the original image.

Just throwing that out there

My theory is
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
that it looks a bit like a weird cat god thing in the middle a bit oriental ish that perhaps we have to name
but my husband thinks
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
that it is some kind of samurai warrior
.
both may be wrong but just wanted to chuck it into the mix

it looks more like a mirror image, a kaleidescope would have a circular image repeating, this is like a mirror image if you put a line down the centre vertically. except for the circle in the middle

Looks to me like the following (spoilered, just for kicks!)

Spoiler (Rollover to View):

1) Somebody started out with several images
2) The images are of walls/ceilings/floors of buildings
3) They cut them out and made a Collage of them
4) We need to reassemble the pictures
5) And identify which buildings they are from

Not 100% sure about lines 2 and 5, but it seems too easy without them

Collage

I tried mirroring each half to itself with MS Paint, the large orange bit in the circle becomes a pentagon when I do the left side and a square when I do the right side. I still think that it looks like there are two arms holding up the center circle though.

I don't know.

Here are my thoughts:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
The answer box asks for a one word solution, so the building names are out. I agree while it looks like a kaleidoscopic image, it is in fact a mirror image.

I sliced it down in Photoshop, flipped one image, and laid it over the 2nd and messed with the transparency to see differences. The only thing that popped out to me was the center circle, the pattern inside it is not a mirror image. Everything else appears to be.

I photoshopped out the peices of pattern...

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
There appears to be five (including the pattern that matches the circle in the middle.

I then matched the peices together:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
For each pattern it seems you can match them on top of each other, but a few have an "extra peice" (I think, my scanner isn't very good) that doesn't seem to fit with the others of the matching pattern. From what I could discern these are the mosaic like one with small scattered squares, the blue square tiles and the center circle pattern. the extra tiles don't seem to fit together.

***EDIT***

If you remove the parts that don't belong, it kinda looks like...

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
an eye... with the question mark being over the "iris". iris is not a solve and neither is "pupil"
