Quaint.wav and 2.wav are the same song, The Patient, played on different instruments. P.wav is Parabol.

I have tried these as subdirectories but had no luck. What do we do with ths info?

p.wav compared with Parabol
quaint.wav and 2.wav compared with The Patient

The splitearth files are the originals, and so will need to be reversed. If I can find a file host I will sort it out.

Well, now that we have the backstory, I'm not sure what we're supposed to do... We even got the hidden text in the document.

I tried to leave a comment on Thomas's site, but it tells me I need to be logged in to do that. There is nowhere to log in - except at the forums, so I tried that, and had no luck, either. So, with no word from either Thomas or Forrest, I have no ideas what we are to do next.

I found the login page, but I dont know the username, and it isnt Thomas. I played around with fodder.mp3 in audacity. It goes...

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
First section [Inaudible] Second section "You must gain access to thomas' account" third section "[your?] password is [s overlaps with [Inaudible]

I am signing up for a wordpress account on http://splitearth.org/~thomas/

EDIT: Hmm... not only is a login required, but comments are moderated. I might be mucking about where I dont belong here?

"You must be," said the Cat, "or you wouldn't have come here."

Another one Bytes Me

Not I... So far that makes three, including Stop VT and visce.com. I'm beginning to see why the "elders" wait so long before jumping in to trailheads.

True, but when one eventually takes off, we'll be in on the ground floor. Wink

Besides, I like the small, novel stuff, even if it never comes to anything.

Not to mention the Wyoming Incident... Or 256 is just a number... This may be par for the course, as far as smaller games are concerned, but it's kinda discouraging for a newbie. ^.^;;; Or maybe it's just a run of bad luck.

Bad Timing?

That's what keeps me going, just ONCE I want to start at the beginning and see everything through to completion (not counting lurking, in which case Sammeeees and Geist were brilliant!)

I started with "3 days dead" not so long ago, which introduced me to this community, but was FAR from a game. Then moved onto Enoch which was FUN but had some awkward meta-moments that didn't appeal to me, had a let down with the Prague Files (although it did complete), and had a lot of fun with Vanishing Point, but it wasn't really a TINAG, if that can be used as a noun...

Sadly enough, my greatest enjoyment since finding this genre has been the community itself, and not the games that it represents. Timing, I guess? (edit - actually sad is the wrong term, these people really do rock, and I love the netcasts to death, but it seems absurd to enjoy the vehicle more than the ride)

In any event, I'm off-topicking myself to death into the Meta-Realm, but PLEASE PM's! Stop Fizzling!

/me resembles that remark.

Ah, with age comes patience & experience. I try to check out all new leads, dig a little deeper if the topic interests me and the execution looks promising, and within a day or two know if I want to continue.

We do get a large number of ARG starts (typically from inexperienced PMs who haven't taken the time to prepare, work with an experienced team, or really have no idea what kind of committment running a game will require). We also get a lot of "ooh, check this out" posts that may be weird things on the internet or unusual spam emails, but often are not ARGs or even interactive fiction.

Don't let a few implosions or false starts stop you from enjoying the entertainment. Try reading through some of the games already established to a get a feel for how they typically progress. "Year Zero" isn't a typical ARG (there does not appear to be any interaction between players & characters) but it is definitely a world in an alternate reality and we are discovering the story by clues left at NIN concerts around the world. "Monster Hunter Club" is probably going to hit it's climax this week (since the movie "The Host" opened this past weekend), but it has provided us with character interaction and puzzles that you can check out in the forum.

Looks like a couple will be starting in April ("21" and "World Without Oil" - not sure what kind of game model they will follow, but both appear promising for full game play).

Not a chance, uF has replaced Digg as my most visited site, and thanks to the countless archives I know it takes a while to get taken away by a well designed game. Patience is quite easy, but the experience to know when "the execution looks promising" is going to take some time Wink

Ironically, as a self-proclaimed TR fanboy, Year Zero is one of the most amazing "Line Bluring" events I've ever seen.

countdown

Got back from the movies just in time for the countdown (www.splitearth.org/timer) to end (300 is a decent movie BTW). The countdown reached 0 and the text changed to
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Goodbye, Sweet Jane
Now its counting up from midnight. Can't really focus tho' because I'm tired.

I tried www.splitearth.org/Jane and www.splitearth.org/Goodbye and came up with nothing. Gonna sign off until morning unless I get a second wind.
