[META] People going out of character

It's very annoying when people goes Out of Character while playing this game...

Specially if they do this in Interactions.

That's one thing i ask you to do: stay in character. If you're not supposed to know something, let the PMs see you're really acting that way while interacting with them.

For example, the paintover blog... With ppl saying "this site, username and password" or spoiling stuff..

If it was true, the game should be already over and failed.

It all ruins the purpose of the game: living a " Wired reality ".

Hope someone will agree with me.

I agree. Sometimes we kind of need to (like asking Beth about stuff that she wrote in private e-mails while still just pretending to be a friend), but most of the times it just takes away from the R in ARG.

I think so too.

And another thing to remember... The PMs will most likely try harder to work with you and give you information if you're in character.

I've led a lot of fantasy games (not like this though!) and I always paid more attention to players that acted their part and made things fun. That way, I could encourage people to role play and the game would be better for everyone. If someone was being stupid or out of character, I would try not to acknowledge them or at least not to give them any information. Or, if they were really annoying, I would insta-slay them. Hah! Ah, those were the days.

I've posted about this before, but when I got that CD from Cyberia I wasn't in character at all, and I think I missed out on a lot - or at least missed out on some fun interaction. (Though, in my defense, what was my "character" supposed to be? Oh well.)

Trip, you ruined it for everyone!!!! Laughing

I'll agree as well that we need to stay in character. An example would be yesterday when the telephone number was discovered and then called. The man on the other end of the phone seemed to give more information and interacted more with those who tried to act interested in what Dr. Schuffhausen had to offer and not just "How do you spell your name" (so we can continue the game)? The interaction is the game! Play your part! Wink
