[INTERACTION] Bishop
Not sure . . . something may be afoot . . .

OK. It's been a while since I posted here, mostly because I'm a student and it's dissertation season, so I've been knee-deep in ritual theatre for the last month or so. However, something possibly interesting has come up that I thought might be nice to get a few opinions on.

Basically, a few weeks back I messaged Bishop. It was after one of the mysterious deaths, and I was checking that he was OK, and also trying to be a bit non-formal and chatting about how weird it was that we're about the same age but loads of years apart, and then he got on to talking about a big catastrophe that wiped out a lot of people. When I mentioned that I was UK, he mentioned that London was 'Ground Zero' for whatever it is that causes the big fandango . . . then he said something a little interesting.

Quote:
Say you don't know a Guy named William Mabus by chance do ya?

Since this is so oddly specific in terms of name and whatnot, I thought at first it was a vague reference to Will Forth, but on the offchance searched 'William Mabus' on the Internet. It turns out that there's a Nostradamic prophecy revolving around someone called 'Mabus', it goes something like this:

Quote:
Mabus then will soon die, there will come
Of people and beasts a horrible rout:
Then suddenly one will see vengeance,
Hundred, hand, thirst, hunger when the comet will run.

The website I got this information from puts forward Prince William, the current second-in-line to the British throne, as a possible candidate to be this 'Mabus' Nostradamus talks about.

I mentioned this to Bishop and he had this to say:

Quote:
Really? Wow that's freaky. A lot of the religious stuff is either archived by the HFU or didn't survive the Old-world. Its hard to believe that only a generation ago there was something as archaic as royalty. I'll run a search and see if anything comes up. You should probably do the same.

Now at first I wasn't sure if this is anything. But the fact that he was so specific about 'William Mabus', plus the connection to a prophecy (something pretty important in DC, if I recall, lol) plus the fact that Bishop seems to be encouraging me to keep looking . . . I don't know. Anyone got any ideas?

Just got this from Bishop...it's on a completely different topic than DeusPhoenix's post, but good news nonetheless.

Quote:
Hey ng - I see from my reports that you finally cracked that crap of a task called audiophile. Good work man - I've compiled a report of agent difficulties based on stuff you guys have sent me for I-corp and they tell me that a lot of the tasks are going to be based on dynamic word recognition software from now on. Thanks for making the system better!

Now, to me this reads as an implicit promise that we won't have to go through the rather "unique" difficulties we experienced with Audiophile and Typo, which were as good as solved (at least in my view) long before we found the exact semantics.

Heh, and I was just about to offer to write one for them. Wink Good news.

I am wanting to combine the prophecy thing and Smile, maybe only because they are the only two unsolved things I'm immediately aware of. Will let you know if anything turns up in my searches.

Edited to add: Mabus was the "third" anti-christ of Nostradamus. Hmm. I haven't found the other two. Man these writings are a pain to read.

Edited to add: http://www.uhj.net/nostradamus.htm a lot of rhetoric, but the first part is interesting, in light of all of this. Then it trails into stuff that I couldn't read [maybe because I'm too tired].

Yeah, I'm still not convinced that the Smile interaction and this pointer from Bishop are related. If they are though, this was the clearest explination of the most pointed "three" I could find. ... As long as you ignore 90% of the words on the site. Wink

After this point though I'm willing to accept that they may not be related. Unless the PMs expect Hitler, Napoleon or Saddam to be in the interface...

William Alexander Mabus is the leader of the UMN. He gives a speech here.

I did some initial Googling on William Alexander, and didn't find much relevant, though there have been two William Alexanders in the Skull & Bones Society. Don't take this to mean there's nothing; it's currently a quarter to three, and time for sleep. Will look into more later today.

... well that's a lot more direct than anything I was looking at. Good job Misroi. Now I feel silly.

Negativeview and I were chatting in IRC today, and we came up with a theory. William Forth has said his wife is pregnant, and we're still unsure of his relevance to the future. A possible scenario is that the child is born, survives the coming nuclear Armageddon, and takes the name Mabus later.

It's only a theory, but one that might be worthwhile investigating. I'll be sending a message to Will to introduce myself, but someone who actually has a rapport with him might want to try to find out how things are going with the wife and kid...

on a slightly different note, did anyone catch Bishop's comment in the news page?

Quote:

re you guys trying to get us all locked out of the system? I just got a seriously nasty letter From AD Prince himself saying something about a communication to ME about this stuff sent by one of you!! I never got any "underground resistance letter from the past" and I DON'T WANT ONE! Also if you want me to be your handler you need to watch yourselves - Its not like I care what you say here - most of you guys are too much of a risk to even get noticed and half the temporal error stuff you see gets completely buried on our end - like some guy named "Pi?" what's that all about? Anyways I'm just saying don't do anything... um rash to ME ok? I work for a living dammit! Yeesh.

Kinda freaked me out there....

Yeah.

It is both a good in-character response, as well as a clue about something. The underground resistance letter he is referring to is most likely the speech I wrote, which I sent to him for insertion into the data base of the future. Since he says he never received it the message was most likely intercepted. In retrospect I probably should have emailed it to te Chris of the future but even revolutionaries make mistakes. Also, he gives us a specific spelling of "Pi" which means that this Pie in the Sky hacker is probably actually "Pi in the Sky" like the mathematical number.

Alright, looks like the "communications lockdown" is over. Just got this from Bishop about my inquiries about what's been going on recently.

Quote:
Man its good to be able to message again - Damn corp paranoia lockdowns. Yea I guess it would look that way from your end huh? Nice of them to tell you. Oh well it's like my man Sawyer always says: "Only good corp is a dead corp" ...come to think of it I'm not sure what that means.

Normally I'd just edit the previous entry, but I thought this warranted a "bump up".

Got this from Bishop. I'm wondering if this refers to one of the Grey District missions or some other agent communication.

Quote:
Bishop says: Yea theres something big going down in Dcorp, I'm still waiting on a timetable but then I'm kinda the low-man around here. Sawyer? I never asked him and his city profile is unreliable - though technically that's my fault... uhh... but considering he was a teenager during the war he's gotta be in his forties right? I'd ask him now but hes not here, he's tracking down a supposed black market for books based on some lead we got from one of you guys.
