arg.taculo.us

Now THAT was fun! Definitely appealed to the code-slinging geek in me.

Since I liked the puzzle so much, I'll do the kloo > spoiler routine:

Kloo

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Bottom right of each of the FOUR emails

Spoiled:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
1 => 4 -- 2 => 28 -- 3 => 22 -- 4 => 19 --
The 4'th email can only be found by clicking on the "4" on the top right where you see "3 / 4 emails"

Perhaps something is amiss in the rendering here. There is no point at which I see
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
"3/4 emails". The only way I was able to get to it was to manually type in mail4.html.
Perhaps its the browser/resolution I'm running at? IE7 under WinXP SP2 @ 1280x768. I understand this may be by design and the creator wants people to only figure this out from reading source code, but if that's not the case, I thought they'd like to know.

Not that it helps me much since I'm too stupid to figure out the PHP key, but if I can help out with the QA of your game, at least that's something.

Uberg, on the header of the e-mail to the right it reads:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
1 to 3 of 4 Messages

That's what EarlyWyrm meant

As with the PGP key...

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
what's wrong with the poem? google!

Um, no. I'm telling you, it doesn't display.
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Here are screenshots :

Please circle where it says 1 to 3 of 4. Maybe I'm being dense, but I don't think its there. Its a render error. I can see in your source code where it mentions mail4.html, but that's the only place it appears on my end

Didn't need Google for the poem
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
I know Shakespeare when I see it. Its Midsummer Night's Dream. I rearranged the poem so it was correct and nothing happened. I took the first letter from each sentence of the corrected passage to use as the PHP key and got nothing. I took the each word in the passage as hinted by in the bottom of each email (ie 1=>4) and nothing. Took each those results, ran them through an md5 calculator and got nothing. Tried using 23 digits of pi (as listed in one of the emails) and got nothing.

I'm sure that this is a case of me being too stupid to figure it out. I'm not very up on what a PHP key is or how you figure it out. My methods were based on googling and trying to figure out what you're getting at. I'm sure programmers understand it perfectly and this was no problem for them.

I concede defeat on the PHP key.

whoa... yep... the header text is hidden somewhere on your display! will have to take a look at that... anyway it doesn't matter since you've figured that part out already

ok, another hint to the PGP stuff:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
check the address book

The PGP key is necessary for sending email - of course the interactive spam filter makes it tricky Wink (as opaphid is fond of saying - tag you're it)

Interesting that the "1 to 3 of 4 Messages" didn't display on IE7, CSS issue or ajax flaw? That's why I'm still nervous using javascript (or xml server requests) in my site designs.

It's a CSS issue, as that text isn't related to AJAX at all...

FYI I had some similar problems with the address book. Clicking on the name didn't bring up the person's information. I'm not sure if it was supposed to appear on the page or pop up, but reading the source code I was able to figure out where I was supposed to go.

I finally finished though and have to say that was very cool despite some of the issues I had. If it were longer and had a plot attached to it, you'd have one hell of an ARG there.

Thanks for the feedback Uberg, next time we'll check IE7 as well (as it has brought up some issues)
