Glad to have you join us, Turtle.
I'm going to half-trout you on this one - I don't think the stamps are relevant, and comic references don't seem like it would be tCotSA's style, but they might be braille.

I've had a thought - In tCotSA's latest message they sent Lovek and possibly others a translucent piece of paper with saying, "Let reason guide your minds, and intellect steer your action." Pehaps if you overlay the transparent paper and the shingle, the dots will line up with letters and spell something.

I can confirm that I got the translucent paper as well. Not having the wood I can't actually test it out, but I'm guessing that the piece of paper is _much_ too small to overlay with the wood, being able to see the size of the paper.

I tried lining it up with the shingle, but they're not the same size, so its hard to know where exactly I should place the translucent strip. It didn't seem to form anything on first glance anyway, good idea though. I'll try to see if a scan works if you wanna see it, just tell me how you want it lined up.

Edit: The wood is 10 in. across the translucent strip 8.5 in.

As far as the stamps go, I think they refer to a particular puzzle, Gee's Bend Quilt stamps were for this puzzle, and the superhero stamps for the congratulations letter.

Isn't trout for reminding someone that has been previously discussed? Typically folllowed by a link to the original post.

Thanks for the heads up. There is a lot of information to absorb just walking into this.

The original trailhead is probably your best bet to get caught up.

Skywing did a great job recapping the game too, I'd recommend that thread along with reading the original trailhead as soleta suggested.

with the recent news that this may be a merge with deus city it could be possible that dcdd stands for deus city defense department.

Following davis' thought that the DCDD might be related to Deus City, I sent Bishop this message...

Quote:
To Bishop: Hey there! Sorry I haven't responded recently, life's been hectic. Still working on the thing we talked about last time, I'll let you know if I come up with any feasible way to make it work. For one thing, knowing Deus City's pre-Apocalypse location would help. I mean, I'm in Kansas, where are you guys located?

By the way, does the acronym DCDD mean anything to you? I saw it in a document, and I'm wondering if it's something either "Deus City" or "Defense Corp" related.

Keep surfing the interface, Bish!

And, no you don't get to know what the "thing" is. It's not relevant, and also sensitive.

He responded...

Quote:
Bishop says: You should take a close look at the D-city map.

Ah ha! A kl00!!

However, I haven't found anything that relates well to the DCDD, be it either "Deus City D.D." or "DefenseCorp D.D." Still working...

Edit: Now that I think about it, I think he was referring to the first part of my post. I sent him back a message querying him on what the DCDD might be.

Edit2: Yep, I was reading things into his post that didn't exist. He responded back:

Quote:
Bishop says: Deus City Department of Disinformation? - Naw I'm just messin around - I have no Idea. What's the context?

To which I replied:

Quote:
To Bishop: Heh, what would the Department of Disinformation's slogan be? "You can put your trust in us! Maybe!"

It's a lead we're investigating in our time that might have some relevance in yours. We were supposed to ask the DCDD for advice if we had troubles. If it doesn't mean anything to you, then we might be barking up the wrong tree there.

Didn't want to get too specific into the Wood & Cloth. I don't know how important or secret tCotSA is in the future, and if we didn't have concerns over the sniffer's security, I would have said more. I was afraid that putting secure measures on that might alert the wrong parties that we think this information is important enough to hide.

What does this mean? Well, I'm not convinced that the DCDD doesn't exist in Deus City. I am, however, convinced that it's something that really doesn't involve Bish at all. That means we're looking for a different faction involved with it, since it's not something immediately recognizable. Maybe Theo or future Chris might know something...

Anyway, no more speculation for tonight.

OK, this is really grasping at straws (especially since I won't be able to view the original letter until I get home from work) but could we have misred DCDD? If it was DCOD (fairly similar appearance), it would be Defense-Corp Old Downtown. It's worth a try, at any rate.

So, yeah. I posted a message in Old Downtown asking for help in the matter, with a poorly disguised "tCotSA" hidden at the end of the sentence. Hopefully we'll get a little nudge on our block of wood.

EDIT: yeah, now that I can see the letter it definitely looks like DCDD. Back to the drawing board.

contact dcdd by email?

Just a thought -- has anyone tried to follow up the "dcdd" clue by emailing dcddSPLATdcdd.nl? This is the email address listed for the webmaster of the Dutch Coalition on Disability and Development -- see http://www.dcdd.nl/default.asp?action=article&id=1510.

I would hazard a guess that the dutch coalition is a dead end, as there are MANY articles in Dutch and it looks legit to me. Could be wrong, but knowing the PM's resources it would be a big stretch for them to go to all that trouble.

Plus there are other big websites ( see this link for example) that lead me to believe it is OOG.[/url]

[LETTER] From tCotSA today (3/22/07)
Linked perhaps?

Hi All,

I am aware that one or more have already tried something like this, but in the tCotSA letter towards the end, it states something like:

Quote:
I think we are going to have to connect a lot of the dots ourselves
On this one

Just wandering if this has been tried to exhaustion already or if anyone has managed to come up with anything meaningful doing this?

May be a complete waste of time, but seemed too obvious not to mention or has it been elsewhere?

Brum

Did anyone follow up on this? If not I could give it a try. Let me know.
