Box in the middle says:
Quote:
WHICH COUNTRIES DO THESE ANIMALS COME FROM?
FRANCE . ICELAND . CHINA . KOREA . GERMANY . RUSSIA

A. (top left) - I-GO-GO
B. (top right) - KIKERIKI
C. (centre left) - WANG
D. (bottom left) - GROIN-GROIN
E. (centre right) - MJA
F. (bottom right) - GAE-GOOL

Back of the card reads:
Quote:
Ilja and Anja wandered through the woods, hand in hand, searching for a home and a family. One day, they came upon a kindly woodsman. He saw their fearsome and lonely condition, and his heart was filled with compassion.

'You look tired and hungry,' the woodsman said. He brought them to his home and said: 'Bide here a while, children, and I will care for you.' And indeed, he fed them on thick porridge and honey, and gave them warm blankets to sleep upon. In return, he asked that Ilja help to fetch water from the well and stack cords of wood; and he asked that Anja help to bake bread and hang the laundry; and for a time, the children thought they had at last found the home they had been seeking.

The woodsman's wife, though, was a jealous sort, and feared that the woodman would never have love in his heart for his own children, should she bear any, while he had this fatherly love for Ilja and Anja. Evil thoughts burned in her mind, until finally she could stand it no longer.

NB - most of the time, it refers to him as a woodsman. The last reference has no s, and refers to him as a woodman. Probably a minor typo, but it is the card and not me transcribing it wrongly!

I have solved this card and it's fairly easy to find the answers on a google search but hint to follow

hint
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
The languages are what the animals are speaking not what there names are in.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
A. HORSE = I-GO-GO = Russian
B. CHICKEN = KIKERIKI = German
C. DOG = WANG = Chinese
D. PIG = GROIN-GROIN = French
E. CAT = MJA = Icelandic?
F. FROG = GAE-GOOL = Korean

Found a great site that made this easy but I have a quibble - the card misspells the cat sound. In that language adding an accent to a letter makes it a DIFFERENT LETTER. It's not like in French where putting an accent on a letter doesn't change the letter, just its pronunciation. In the cat's language and other languages of that group, letters like that are separate letters and alphabetized separately. Local keyboards have keys for those letters.

As a completely irrelevant additional bit of information, I really appreciate that google doesn't require that you find those letters in your symbols menu to search sites in those languages - the plain letter alone works. Even though it's wrong. Using the correct letter gets you more precise results, of course.

Here's the site:
http://www.georgetown.edu/faculty/ballc/animals/animals.html
Note one of the other animals uses a slightly different spelling on this site, but since the PXC solve page has a drop down menu with all your choices you can figure out the right one easily.
