Um... Did you open the box the rest of the way? Or is that all there is in the box?
He said it was empty.
Ah, duh. Thank you.

Going out on a limb here, but read my post in the Origami Shadows thread. I think the box might be tied in with that some way.

Everytime I try to upload a picture, it tells me my confirmation code is incorrect. Which is weird because I'm logged in at the time. I'll post them on some kind of picture hosting site and link it.
Also, yes, it does sound a bit like the Oragami Shadows. I haven't been playing that, but from what I've read it does sound relatively similar.

I'll move stuff to flickr in a few minutes. For now, though, enjoy.

Help or hinder Assuming substitution for the first set of characters, I tried frequency analysis, but am unable to make any real progress. After noting the repetitions mentioned by 'aninterloper' I had a little more success, but only if
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
i reversed the sequence
If you do that then the instances of repeated letters and repetitions seem to make more sense. For instance, the final part of the sequence could be something like
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
zkevpnqxlv krdd hlqq ueg - 'zkevpnqxlv' will free you - hlqq/free is also repeated earlier in the sequence
Though this doesn't make sense of the rest, parts of it almost make words. Perhaps due to additional nonsensical characters inserted.
Hope this helps.

I noticed something interesting that may be nothing.
The type of stencil used doesn't have any additional lines, i.e., it's sans serif. So the Is shouldn't have any crossbars, but whoever wrote it took the trouble to make crossbars on some of the Is, leaving others as just lines. I know this was commented on before, but it might be worth noting that there is actual effort made to distinguish the two; it's not just a function of the 'font'.
Also, the Roman numerals, while they could've been done with the same stencil, don't look like they were, at least to my eye.
Edit: Or rather, looking at them again, their spacing is different from the rest of the 'writing'.

Although, roman numerals could be considered a letter set in themselves, meaning eg, XII wouldn't be 3 characters, but one, representing the # 12. In which case, the lines over top and below may be considered good form for roman numerals, as it were. To my eye, it seems feasible that this 'font'/stencil, whatever it is, would show the numerals the way they are written... but that's MHO =) The rest of the "I"s in the text are sans-serif. A ginle "I" in roman numeral would follow the 'style' of the rest of the numerals - with the bar above and below (not really a serif)

I'm at work, so this has to be quick, but to just to let you all know, I just went out to get some coffee and there was an envelope under my windshield wiper. Inside was a typewritten memo talking about some stolen code keys and a handwritten message with some morse code. When I have more time, I'll look up what it means.
Also, on the letterhead was a fleur de lis with an H on one side and a C on the other. Does anyone know what this is?

On my car at work! Which, of course, leads me to beleive it's someone who knows both my car and where I work. So it's a limited number of people. And I'm also relatively sure it is an ARG now.
Also, I just read the Cenobite comment. You're right. But what I wouldn't give for some spicy poppadoms and chicken curry. Man oh man.
The morse code is
Quote:
- .- -. --. --- ..... ..---
which translates to tango52, I think. Who says lunch break are good for nothing?

Yeah, it's tango52. I tried it as a key for a Vigenere but no such luck...
Unless that's only part of decoding it.
Pretty neat/creepy they know where you live and work and your car.
Afterthought: Maybe it's connected to the T-52 Enigma Machine... I guess it's possible.

In North America the fleur-de-lis is often associated with areas formerly settled by France, such as Louisiana and Quebec.
It appears on military insignia and the logos of many different organizations, and during the 20th century it was adopted by various Scouting organizations worldwide for their badges
Also strong links to royalty.
I don't think it gives us anything unless we know who/ what the HC stands for.

So, someone is specifically targeting you for this? What city/state do you live? Is this a puzzle trail designed with you specifically in mind or do you think it is meant for "the masses"? Knowing these things can help figuring out motivation/experience of the PM and that helps in solving.
I'm not sure if this is an ARG or a Puzzle Trail. But I know that uF is eager to help you solve your mysterious box.
Any chance for a photo of the actual box itself (how big is it, cardboard or other, etc) as well as a scan of the envelop and it's contents. Thanks.
