On the life2 page the "More Information" link at the bottom takes you to a mirror image of the page at /life3. Cute. Sorta like you stepped behind the page and are looking out. Except not a complete mirror - the large text is the same but the discussion part is new text.

And have you checked the source? This tells me there are other links in the page. A lot of the words are links elsewhere.

Ooh, a company at /synchro: Synchro Systems - although their pages are in the origamishadows domain. Oooh. Names deleted. Why does "Sector D" take you to a Sector E page...

What does the [CF] tag mean on this thread?

I think it's "Creative Fiction" or "Chaotic Fiction".

It's playing very differently and there hasn't been opportunity for interaction but there is a huge ass 'story' to be found/read.

There are many "hidden" pages. Use the TAB key to help find them on any page. Or the Ctlr A to highlight the page to find hidden text.

Rowan said she found at least 2 pages by changing the url after 'clues' from the written stuff.

I spent hours last night just going through the Open thread (and archiving it). Yeah, Life2 and Life3 pages were off the wall. One was reverse writing, one was the ROT-13. And there is hidden binary code on The Fading World main page.

http://origamishadows.com/tfw/main.html
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
No conspiracy too small to uncover!
You're not just imagining this.

Also noticed that on some pages, once you clicked the link, when you went back, the word(s) for that link were not visible on the page (at least, to me). That was trippy.

We have some main characters: Hunter, Janine.
We have an evil corporation: Synchro System testing a product called Synchronicity Drive.

It's off the wall trying to find the story in all the pages - built like a spiders web (is anyone working on a map????). But I'm trying.

I don't think it has been mentioned really that the story continues in a linear fashion [30 pages] at a site called S is for Shadows. You must have all of the 'keys' to enter.

On the last page of the story is an mp3 from Broken Kites, Into The Light, which is how the OrigamiShadows page starts - with an invitation to "Open the door. Step into the light."

This whole cookie thing is messing with my computer. I'm worried that when I do a spyware scan my cookies will be deleted and I'll have to start all over again. Sigh.

haha, i tried to post this last night but couldn't:

This seems to be hyperfiction to me, which is starting to become a hot genre in the literary/art circles. It has been around for a long time, but this is a very sophisticated one with some ARGish elements to boot. I'm planning to do my thesis on or in hyperfiction as an artform so this is a great find for me. However, I love the term "Chaotic fiction", very appropo.

It also has a kinda Philip K. Dick thing going on, the conversational philosophical rambling tone I mean. I know someone mentioned Memento but all these vignettes talking of life/love/death remind me also of Run Lola Run.

As far as the band goes, I think it's a pretty clever way to introduce mood music throughout the read.

And thanks for the tab and ctrl a tip. MY GAWD I WAS GOING INSANE!!!!!

here is a spoiler regarding sector d:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
when you press sector d and it takes you to e, go to the address and change the letter from e to d.

And I suppose there must be other nooks like that where some of the required cookies are hiding. Because I just linked through everything that links directly, and still can't get into the S is for Shadows site.

Possibly missed while just clicking, found like the page above:

ok I've got a rough map of all the pages up on the wiki - no contents, just a page that lists all the linked pages.
*spoiler alert if you want to discover them on your own

heh, that page is actually linked, but it's tricky, because apparently...
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
it's linked on the wisdom3 page - instead of linking to wisdom2 in the footer, they link to wisdom4.

cyng made a good example - not every page is necessarily linked. If a new page is found that isn't on the wiki, it means the link couldn't be discovered, but entered manually. Hopefully there's more like that Smile

Why the wiki? I already made a guide listing the pages, including what (text or image) links to which page.

yes, I didn't notice that you had attach the document earlier... apologies. Though I'm also adding other details. The plan is to eventually include the story text for the pages, not just the map. The resources could co-exist. I wasn't planning on adding info about where the links were specifically. Again, apologies for duplicating work you'd already done... I'll add a link to your document. (it's also a public wiki so anyone can manage the data)

That's understandable. We all miss things some times, so no hard feelings. And thanks for the link. :3

I'm deep into collecting all the text (and pictures) on word file (almost done with all of Open). I'm breaking it into manageable pieces so we have it all archived. My ordering may be different from what any of you have followed on this trail. That's not important. I'm doing this as preservation (cause you never know when something will be taken offline).

After it's complete, I'll figure out how to make it available to whomever wants it.

The next step is to try to figure out the storyline. It's like putting together a huge bunch of film splices (ring any bells for MHC players??) with multiple possibilities for the order of some events.

However, I think there is NO one way to follow this story since it seems to involve some sort of time shifting, time travel. And our heroes have pieces of time missing from their lives.

it would be nice if it were a simple branching structure, but there are certain sections that are referred to more than once at various parts of the story. Coming up with a linear plot will be buckets'o'fun Smile

Apart from the poetic passages, it is possible to collect the pieces into a coherent narrative. They are all there, and while there is a Memento-type thing going on, it's displayed in the pages themselves: once you assemble and order them, the story is relatively easy to follow.

I repeat, though, from going through it and talking to the author, this is a timewaster, not an ARG. No interactive elements, and only one puzzle. Still fun, though. Good luck.
