Rand0m donates $8,000 of Cube winnings to the unfiction

You may have noticed the shiny box in the upper right hand corner of the page thanking Rand0m for his donation. This article from the front page of unfiction will explain it all.

unfiction receives unprecedented gift

I thank Rand0m in the PXC thread about his finding the Cube. I posted this here as well so that people who don't frequent the PXC forums might see it.

Well done!

Wow! This was very generous; it's great to see people giving back to the community, and I think it speaks a lot for the kind of community that Unfiction is. Smile

There doesn't appear to be an applauding emoticon. Instead, I shall give you this, Rand0m, as it states my opinion equally well.

Rock On Very awesome! Kudos.

Good form!

Something like that, anyway. The sentiment's there, even if the words aren't.

It's been my observation that the ARG community has as its members some of the most generous, community-minded people on the 'net. I work for a news distribution resource and stumbled across the press release while doing some monitoring on PRWeb - everyone in my office has been stopping by my desk to ask why I was cheering. Smile

Well-played, Rand0m - well-played.

When various people were discussing what they'd do with the money if they won, various people said they'd donate some to the forums. (I think I was one of them!). However, it's nice that the winner has actually done it, and a handsome sum at that. Terribly magnanimous of you, Rand0m. I'm sure the community appreciates it (and will for some time to come), and is grateful to you for your generosity. For some reason, I want to put things like "Top hole, old chap", and "Bravo, old bean". I think I'd better stop now Laughing

I saw this last night and wanted to thank him but there was no topic, so thanks rose for starting this thread.

And most of all thank you rand0m for helping to keep uF going for us poor folk who can't afford to donate. Mr. Green

Well, it would be 80 weeks* but instead let's consider any new weekly sponsors (like Methos, thank you! I was out of sponsors for a few weeks!) to be freeing up their amount of donation out of Rand0m's chunk of change to go toward future costs and building other things like better ARGFests. Smile

* A weekly sponsorship is recognized for donations in multiples of $100. The actual weekly cost is technically more than $100, but hey.

Rand0m, YOU ROCK! What a great thing to do!

I am awaiting a cash award from a game I don't want to give any advertisement to anymore, and plan to send 10% of that into UnFiction too, it will be significantly less than your donation, but I look at it this way, Spacebass et al do not have to worry about 1 yrs worth of costs for this forum, so any donations the rest of us send in, no matter how large or small will simply guarantee the following year (and the next, etc.)

So for everyone out there who has thought about donating, don't quit the thought just because Rand0m did something fabulous, your donation just helps guarantee we can all continue to come here for a long time to come Smile
