I've never met an author that has that kind of patience. (I say this being one of said patience-lacking crowd.)

The thing that I can't figure out, though, is that I found this blog shortly after it started, which was wayyyyyy back in fall of 2005. I've been following it since then, thinking that eventually it would get to the point of being an ARG or viral marketing, and it never has! That's kind of a long time to carry on with this thing...especially when there isn't a lot of buzz about it on the internet. I've seen a thread posted about it here and there, but nothing big, and certainly no self-promotion.
So what the heck is it?
Also: an ARG has to have puzzles. I am sorry but while there may be a kick butt story eventually there needs to be some G to go with your AR. So far while there is a very engaging storyline I have yet to see any puzzles, hints, or otherwise hidden messages that may give a clue as to what this is.

Maybe there are clues we just have not looked hard enough...
From a post on the site:
"I got an email yesterday from a gentleman who said he was from America's Research Gate (ARG). Has anyone ever heard of this before?"
America's Research Gate is an anagram for "A CHARACTER GAME SERIES"

I've heard of America's Research Group, but not Gate.
Interestingly, my Google search for "america's research gate" turned up this: http://www.amazon.com/Reading-Enemys-Mind-Gate-Americas-Espionage/dp/0312875150
Not related, but a curious coincidence indeed.

Hmmm.
Perhaps what he posted was from someone e-mailing him to see if it was a trailhead -- and the America's Research Gate was the person's attempt to code a reference to ARG.
Considering the confusion of the blog author, that may be a sign that this isn't anything ARG-ish.
If the e-mail wasn't something he concocted in his own basement, I mean.

except that the Cowsills connection came from that email, which did tie into the Indian Lake thing. maybe it is the blogs author's attempt to help us along by showing us one piece of the puzzle. - i don't know

I'm going with "Cool story" rather than ARG, just because it really doesn't look like there's anyhting at all to figure out.

It's also possible that one of our ranks did some Google searching about Indian Lake to see if it was ARG-related, came across the Cowsills, and sent the E-Mail thinking they had found a clue and asking if it truly was an ARG.
Or it's fake.
Or it's a trailhead two years in the making.
Or...it's an X-File.

This just can't be an ARG.
But, it sure has an interesting story.
Hopefully this actually goes somewhere.

I will cover the blog in an article. Hopefully this will generate interest for either the author to expand on the story or even others to spin off the website.
