Sean (from 42) told me that Bungie wanted to use a different approach to advertising Halo3 this time around.
Question for you kona.. did he mean that Bungie wants a different type of thing, FROM 42, or that they aren't going with 42 for anything this time around..?
It sounded to me as if they weren't going to use 42 for what ever viral marketing campaign they were going to do this time around.

Hm.. disappointing. =(
Here's an idea.. just for fun.
The honeycomb texture only appears in some places.. and looking closely, I see that it is also behind the hog. Any REALLY good photoshop types here willing to remove the hog from every frame and then composite the images? I'll give it a stab this weekend..

Wow, I haven't been here since ILB. Loved it, so I'm being sucked back in.
The conversion thing is going to be tricky. 713 is too high a number for an IP address (255 is the highest any number can be in an octet). But, 713 fits nicely into octal.
I tried converting between decimal, octal, hexadecimal, and binary and didn't come up with anything definite. Here's something that may be something:
x.xx.713 > ghost.713/non-auth/activity ongoing
The > is used in Unix, Linux, and the command prompt in Windows to redirect the output from a command into a new file (or if the file exists, it overwrites it). ghost.713 could be the hostname of a computer. Again, these are just some ideas or other angles that I haven't seen mentioned yet.

Sorry for posting again, but I just had a thought. How many pages are in the newest Halo book, the Ghosts of Onyx? Is there 713? If so, can someone check on that and see if they find anything good?
Thanks, angelo.

I've checked and there doesn't seem to be anything hidden in that image...

well i think we can rule out 42 being involved
i guess we will just have to wait and see, i think the common theory is that we will receive something interesting on the last day of e3
also someone on the bungie forum was talking about the possibility of 7/13 or whatever being the day and month in the future the covenant invade, according to the countdown

Alright, after discussion with another UnF member.. Anthrax101, in the IRC.. he told me that the conversion of the number would come out like this, including unknown previous #'s..
Apparently if you use the Berkley method.. which I've been told is not very common at all, it comes out like that. Creds to Anthrax if it means anything.

one final thing to note it is march 28 today. Why is that important well ill tell you its now 4 days away from april 1st. That means bungie is undoubtebly planning something very crafty to drive us all MAD.

Hi, im new here but i just wanted to say that some of the people over at http://www.highimpacthalo.org also noticed that the code for the Greater than symbol in a web browser is "%3E". You've mentioned that 7/13 is the last day of E3 and when people intially tried to get a link out of this they noticed that 3E showed up when trying stuff out. sounds more than coincidental to me. =)

I am noe pretty sure this is an unauthorized data query into UNSC systems.
On page 122 of the Halo Graphic Novel, the page where reference to Herzog's assasination is made, there is a "proof of data query spoof"... and the format used is very similar to this:
one line from HGL:
Hunter > 226 transfer complete
our mistery code:
X.XX.713> ghost.713/non-auth/activity ongoing
So if I draw parallels, then
X.XX.713 could be the spoofed login ID. The X.XX makes it untraceable to someone monitoring real time (counter-querying)
ghost.713 could be the way the system interprets the unknown user
non-auth/activity ongoing is pretty obvious... accessing files they shouldn't be accessing. It may have little to do with the Warthog.
Maybe there are more system code logs in the books or even ILB that we could look to.
