[LETTER] From tCotSA today (3/22/07) I was very surprised to receive a letter inthe mail today from tCotSA. Heavy bond page, hand made envelope, postage from Michigan, hand printed in pencil:
Quote:
Hello once again! I am pleased to be writing you with good news:
It is time to gather together the long scattered folio pages.
I cannot explain how important these item cuold prove to our cause
Many generations ago, great minds looked into the future and we must
Now fold their insights into our own understanding of this grand
Situation we find ourselves in.
These pages have been spread to a variety of locations, but always
Guarded carefully. While many of the original guardians were members
Of our organization at one time, we have lost contact with many
Of these people over the ages. This accurately describes the situation
Surrounding the first collection of pages we will go after.
In 2001 we were able to trace some of the pages to a
Guardian we refer to as Trusted Hands A. We believe
That she took possession of the [ages from her grandmother,
Who probably brought them out of Europe in WWI.
We do not know her real identity or location, but we have had some brief Communications with her. She appears to
Be dedicated to our cause, but is extremely cautious
About handing over the items her family has guarded for
So long. She refuses a face-to-face meeting for fear of
Exposing her family to the dangers that stalk these
Pages, and frankly I don't blame her.
I believe that she will agree to a dead drop
Soon, but for now we need to try and learn
More about where she is located. The only
Real clue we have is a brief comment we
Heard in the background of out last
Phone conversation. While on the phone
With our agent, a young voice was heard
In the background on her end of the line
Our agent believes that he heard:
"...GOING TO...-ANDELEER AND HYD-...-FTER DIN-..."
An airplane obscured much of the phrase. It isn't
Much to work with, but we didn't bring your
Team into this mess because we had an easy
Job on our hands. See if you can make
Anything out of this, and I'll be trying to
Talk her into making a drop. Given the
Secrecy that Trusted Hands A has shown so
Far, I think we are going to have to connect a lot of the dots ourselves
On this one. We will be
In touch soon.
I kept the original line sequencing in this transposition. The line near the end beginning "Far" curves up the side of the page (I will scan & post on my flickr)
On the back of the page:
Quote:
We have been able to speak briefly with our agent
Within the interface, and he speaks highly of your
Group. We hope you are adjusting well to that
Strange world, and wish you the best of luck.
All of the message was printed in capital block letters, which is why I capitalized each line (in case there was a clue there, but I can't see it)
So all I can figure is we are looking for a city which has an airport and streets with "-andeleer and hyd-" with in it.

Dropping out of character for a moment, tCotSA knows where most/all of us live. The location is likely close to one or more of us. Who all lives near an airport? Me, for one. The road names (if that is what it is) don't ring a bell off-hand.
The very last part seems like "after dinner" to me, so it may not be road names. It may be a place you would go after dinner, such as a dessert place.

I was thinking the same thing negativeview, and I live like 45 minutes from Logan, although Viral Marketing and drops haven't been very successful in Boston lately.
I'll keep trying to scroll google maps around Logan for a while looking for a fit, but couldn't hurt for anyone else who received a letter and lives relatively close to an airport to check it out.

Also, this is what the agent thought he heard. It's entirely possible he's parsing it to what he synthesized, not what THA actually said.
Also, any fun anagrams we can make out of "Trusted Hands A"?

I was doing some searching and thought that maybe the voice said 'Bandelier and Hyde'? Bandelier National Monument and Hyde Memorial State Park in New Mexico are located relatively close to Sante Fe. I don't know, it's probably a stretch.

It fits better than anything that I know of around here. The problem is -- how do we know when it's a right answer?

Has anyone else received a similar letter? I don't know what to thing about bandelier & hyde, they are on opposite sides of Santa Fe, of course, it would then give the center location of Santa Fe - which has an airport.
Which tCotSA member is from that area?

I'll keep a lookout for any tCotSA letters (they tend to hide beneath the junk mail). I live near about 5 airports, myself, although none of those names seem familiar. The "andeleer" part sounds vaguely Dutch, and there are a lot of Dutch placenames in the NYC metro area. I'll do some more checking around. Could be "Van" something...

I received a letter from tCotSA today:
Quote:
A SAID " THE HOLDER WAS BORN IN THE YEAR THAT CLINTON LOST THE ELECTION."
Written with pencil in all capital letters on a plain, unlined sheet of paper. Return address is tCotSA and it has a cool Aquaman stamp on it!
So far, I've found that Clinton (Bill) lost elections in 1974 and 1980. Who out there was born in either of those years and has a page of the folio? C'mon y'all! Pony up!

Got one too... same format, although i got Hawkman for my postage.
message is different:
Quote:
A SAID "THE VOLUME MATCHES THE STORIES"
looks like there's going to be more than two of these. Probably a passage we have to put together?

Well, I sent this over to Prince
Quote:
I hope it is not out of my place to inquire about the books Defense Corp. has recently obtained, but I consider myself well-read for a person of 2007, and if I have a weakness it is in old tomes. I have quite a collection of old first editions, and find myself enamored by the smell, touch, and sight of the ancient pages. So I am naturally curious whether there was anything particularly interesting in Defense Corp's recent acquisition.
He'll probably tell me to mind my business and concentrate on my current objectives, but who knows maybe he'll toss me a bone.

Bear with me here...

A SAID "IN THE CORNER WHERE N MEETS W YOU WILL FIND THE DOZEN BOOKS"
and we have this:

Within roughly 60 miles of those two monuments is the campus of the University of New Mexico, Alburquerque. The school was founded in 1892 which was an election year. One of the buildings on the campus is the Zimmerman Library. The library was completed in 1938 which was also an election year. It has 4 floors/stories. There are airports in both cities.
Maybe there is a 12 volume set of books on one of the floors, in the NW corner, and we are to look in volume 4 for a folio page?
