"Beatus es meek" or "Beatus est meek" translate into Blessed are the Meek.

Problem is... Beatus est is in latin and Meek is in english.

This is one of the 8 sayings from the sermon on the mount. It's in Matthew 5-7.

Here's a Wiki article about the festival of Redentore:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Festa_del_Redentore

Pretty easy to see how a person could be assassinated, what with the fireworks, though HELLO WITNESSES.

I think the picture might be from Santa Maria Maggiore (Saint Mary Major's) in Rome, but I'm not sure. Can anyone confirm that?
Also, what does K-47 refer to? I know someone said something about a building in Europe, but could it be a key to the coded message on the card. Is anyone willing to give their best transcription of this message?

I changed my mind.
The church is St. Mark's Basilica in Venice, Italy.

Check out the 3D Basilica link.
This is consistent with the Redentore, etc.
Sorry about the mistake in the previous post.

Saint Marks is right down the road from where the photo of the living statue was taken.

I have no idea what k-47 is about. I tried looking for about an hour now and I cannot find any ties to the card.

"You know how to whistle, don't you, Steve? You just put your lips together and...blow."

That line was delivered by Lauren Bacall to Humphrey Bogart in "To Have and Have Not." It takes place in Martinique. That'd be my guess for a possible next location on the WiR's itinerary.

Edit: It's late, and I forgot to name the movie.

You know whats getting me...

Ok, the hitman, John, has a card with "tuesdays are free" and "k-47" on it and this woman in red makes the website "tuesdaysarefree". Do we really know what side she is working on? Maybe we're leading poor Lewis right into her hands. Of course, this could also be she is using his info to make her pages, but... Razz

Not unreasonable, especially considering she said that if we don't share info with Red, she won't help us anymore.

Kitrona's right--even if she is going to betray us, we have to share the info with Redford to move the storyline forward.

There's a new post on Red's blog.
I have no idea how to work on this new clue.

I haven't looked at the letter matrix yet, but about the final sentence "Remember Smith, he loved Jimmy Durante", Durante was Dante's real surname.

EDIT : Maybe "DANTE" is the key to the coded text. It's wrapped to 5 characters so it would make sense. I will try that.

I also got a reply from the woman in red, but surprisingly she seems to say the Dante stuff is not important :
WiR wrote:
Dante is always around in these stories, isn't he? Not in this case though. Although, his Inferno is always applicable to the depths of Hell the human race will slosh through, no?

The who is a who you all know. He is a master of disguise. Don't let the goofy passport photo fool you, that is not what he looks like.

But it is always about the why. Why was our masked man in Venice during a festival all about redemption? And where did he go next?

How is that redemption theme linked to the whole story ? I searched the web about the Festa del Redentore, but despite the historical origins, nowadays it seems to be just another traditional festival where people eat, drink, have fun and watch the fireworks. I will reply, but i hope the coded text will tell us more.

Could the key be 'SMITH', then? Was he the masked man at the festival?

I tried that too, with no result Sad

EDIT: According to IMDB, Jimmy Durante played in a 1935 movie titled "Carnival", but i could find hardly any information about it on the web ; apparently it's not very popular. I also tried various keys related to Jimmy Durante's movies and songs but no result till now.

It seems so. But John Smith is certainly a pseudonym. Since the woman in red keeps refering to him as "Q", i think the "Q." on the passport is the initial of his real (sur?)name.

Likely Quinn or Quincy, then, since despite its popularity twenty years ago, few mothers are naming their sons Q*bert.
