Well if it helps, the yellow box seems to be hightlighting just off the southern coast of South Africa. Actually, it could be as far south as Antartica.

Okay, I've tried to compile a list of birth and death, and when the death note would have been written IF it was true. Also, the actual causes of death. Hopefully it's error free, but there's a lot of variables to it.

Buddy Holly (Sept 7, 1936 - Feb. 3, 1959) Died in plane crash, age 22.
Death note written Jan. 18, 1959.

Lee H. Oswald (Oct. 18, 1939 - Nov. 24, 1963). shot, age 24.
Death note written Nov. 21, 1963.

John F. Kennedy (May 29, 1917-Nov. 22, 1963) shot, age 24.
Death note written Nov. 21, 1963.

Elvis Presley (Jan.8, 1935 - August 16, 1977) arrythmia from drugs, age 42.
Death note written August 16, 1977

John Candy (Oct. 31, 1950 - March 4, 1994) heart attack, age 43.
Death note written March 1st, 1994.

Kurt Cobain (Feb. 20, 1967 - April 5, 1994) suicide by shotgun, age 27.
Death note written Feb. 31, 1994.

Christopher Reeve (Sept. 25, 1952 - Oct. 10, 2004) heart failure, age 52.
Death note written Oct. 10, 2004.

Anna Nicole Smith (Nov.28, 1967 - Feb.8, 2007) drug intoxication, age 39.
Death note written Feb.3, 2007.

These are the people still alive. They include a time in which they would die if the death note were written today. I've included this since the note says to go to the web site by April 1st 11:59 , and it might have significance.

Tom Cruise (July 3, 1962- ) age 44.
Possible death: April 2, 2007.

Nicolas Cage (January 7, 1964 - ) age 43.
Possible death: April 17, 2007.

Oprah Winfrey (Jan. 29, 1954 - ) age 53.
Possible death: April 5, 2007.

Bill Clinton (August 19, 1946 - ) age 60.
April 2, 2007.

Fidel Castro (Aug. 13, 1926 -) age 80.
April 9, 2007.

Either this will help somebody or I just wasted a lot of time Laughing

I wasted the same time Wink

...with a couple of different results. The Death Note entries that differ from yours are below, but first....

I don't think that it really matters what people think some of these folks actually died from, what matters is that "the Death Note author knows otherwise in his world."

For instance:
Although it is generally believed that Buddy Holly died in a plane crash there is still speculation to the contrary.

Quote:
According to the book The Day The Music Died: The Last Tour Of Buddy Holly, The Big Bopper, and Ritchie Valens, a pistol found at the crash site, and eventually linked to Holly, fueled rumors that a fight, suicide attempt or even attack on the pilot had brought down the plane. A 1992 review of the autopsy on the pilot showed no evidence of gunshot wounds, author Larry Lehmer reported.

And:
Although the autopsy on ANS showed that there were 9 different drugs in her system, the author of the Death Note could certainly [at this point anyway] make a case for his bird flu hex.

Quote:
Anna Nicole Smith accidentally overdosed on at least nine prescription drugs - including a powerful sleep syrup she was known to swig right out of the bottle - after a miserable last few days in which she endured stomach flu, a 105-degree fever, pungent sweating and a pus-filled infection on her buttocks from repeated injections.

In a detailed autopsy report released Monday, a medical examiner noted the former Playboy playmate refused to go to a hospital three days before her Feb. 8 death and chose to ride out her illness in a hotel suite littered with pill bottles, soda cans, SlimFast, nicotine gum and an open box of Tamiflu tablets.

And:
Maybe Christopher Reeve's death ended in heart failure but I did find this:

Quote:
Reeve died from a severe systemic infection caused by a pressure wound, an ailment typical of paralytics. The infection put him into a coma on 9 October 2004, causing his death at his New York City residence the following day.

____________________________________________

Buddy Holly - In 18 days commits suicide with pistol
Died: February 3, 1959 (Age 22)
Date of entry: January 16, 1959

Elvis A Presley - dies of arrhythmia, caused by overdose of drugs
Died: August 16, 1977 (age 42)
Date of entry: Unknown

Kurt D Cobain - shoots self in head with shotgun in 6 days
Died: C. April 5, 1994 (age 27)
Date of entry: March 30, 1994

Christopher Reeve - fever, infection due to bed sores
Died: October 10, 2004 (age 52)
Date of Entry: Unknown

I tried to see if there was a common factor for the character counts in all the comments on the main page. (There isn't. One of them is even a prime.) Posting to further research on the comments or keep someone else from doing all the counts.

Code:
#   Count
1      627
2    7,520
3    8,667
4   30,858
5    2,241
6   40,533
7   12,386
8  102,476
9   63,477
10 144,866
11 157,453
12 194,693
13 169,691 (Prime)
14  40,188
15  11,568
16  10,252
17      99

The phrase "Them Earth Meteors" seems kind of odd to me.

Has anyone tried to anagram this out?

I didn't find anything that seemed significant from this.

I thought perhaps taking the first letters of those misspelled names might yield something, and got "NOT FEW". So I tried "MANY" and also tried it in reverse due to the flippy Earth image. Nope.

I thought maybe the digits used in the sentence of those misspelled names might spell out something....nope.

I thought possibly we need to use both the misspelled letter and the letter that would normally occupy its spot. I got "RAYE HAS NEO" which was kind of interesting given the Matrix quotes decoded from the graphic binary, and the fact that RAYE was a character in the DEATH NOTE series (an agent of some sort I think?).

I dunno, maybe it'll spark someone else.... Dunno

Off topic, the secret service takes all magnicide comments seriously, so we might have a few "extra" eyes lurking on this one!

Raye Penber was a character in the Death Note series. He was an American FBI agent assigned to investigate the Kira case. Light Yagami (who was/is the killer Kira) played good ol' Raye like a flute, and when he was done with him he tricked Raye into writing down the names of all the other FBI agents on the Kira case on the Death Note. Then he wrote Raye's name in there and the guy had a heart attack on the train. The last thing he saw was Light Yagami standing just outside the doors smirking at him, just for that added kick in the pants.
