I keep flipping back to the blog entry where this was announced/found, and there was a new comment added recently which makes me wonder about what else we're missing.

I found an old copy of the puzzle around campus and it looks like this version on the Bwog has been altered from the original. For whatever reason, the Bwog must have photoshopped out some of the rules at the top... Maybe as a bad joke, so that we waste our time trying to solve this when they haven't given us all the information?
It still seems to be something intended for people on that university campus, not the rest of the world. We might not have enough references to their specific culture to figure this out.

Do you think this could of just been an April fools joke?
The whole 'figure it out before the end of April 1st' thing, and the fact that noone on the entire intarwebs has had any luck with this whatsoever, just makes me think theres a spotty youth sat in a dark corner of his room somewhere chuckling to himself.

There's another one of these up: I don't think it's an april fools joke.
The paper is the exact same as the older ones: The M, symbol,
"TAKE THIS WITH YOU"
"Go to www.theearthmeteors.com
By sunday, april 15th, 11:59PM"
And the only text on the page is, exactly copied including quotation marks:
"ONCE UPON A MIDNIGHT DREARY..."
I'll see if I can scan this if possible.
Any ideas?

A wrong password input now gives this:

"ONCE UPON A MIDNIGHT DREARY..." is the opening of The Raven, by Edgar Allan Poe

The page www.themearthmeteors.com used to take you to www.themearthmeteors.com/index2 this implies there was an index1. I haven't been to index1 in about a week, but it was exactly the same, except it did not have the earth images...there was nothing in the source, and now that page is gone.

A "guest" leaving a cryptic warning at a forum for people who love their cryptics ....
Seems a little like going to a horror movie and screaming at the silly people on the big screen NOT to go into the basement to see where the noise was coming from.
It smells more like some turd messing around.

Regardless. Cryptic or not, the message remains the same. This is not for any of you.

Hmmm.... we assume (in the context of this story) that the people on the list who actually died, did so because:
Their names were written in the Death Note
The writer thought of the victim's face
The victim's names are spelled correctly.
..... who in the world knew what Lee Harvey Oswald looked like the day before he shot JFK?
Flaw?

Only the pigeons that had to pick him up, carry him out the window of the book depository so that he could make a shot capable of enough damage to kill the president.
Those damn pigeons were heard the day before in a bar saying, "Coup, coup, coup."
