Eon8 is over

What an interesting experiment! I wonder if there is a chance of setting up a moderated chat with the creator of this experiment - similar to those that we have after an ARG concludes?

He seems to like us, so perhaps if there is sufficient interest we could work something out? If not, I am glad that I was able to play along with this experiment - even though I was only able to follow it at the very early stages.

As with everything about eon8, I'm not sure where exactly to post this. Mods move as you see fit.

I just really needed to say that the forum and chat mods did an excellent job of managing this "event".
While I couldn't go into the #eon8 room for any extended period of time, when I was there, the mods were totally on top of it all. For those that didn't go in, imagine going into a musicbox store and hearing hundreds of boxes playing at once. All I could manage was to skim the text flying by and see a kick every 20 or so lines where a mod had already taken action. Amazing work. Kudos to you all.

Wait a minute! I noticed something wierd:

If you click this link, (http://www.sandrabullockcentral.com/showthread.php?t=3862&page=4) you'll see that Mike, the Eon8.com site owner was able to find out a girl's email address. The girl claims that she's never ever published her email address on Sandra Bullock Central. How did he manage to find it? How is that possible?

Although I'm not pursuing this any more - it is, very likely, as dead as EmmanuelGoldstein insists - I think it's fun to notice

eon8 spells out "42" (if you don't know why, try to figure that one out)
It launched identical to another 42 project (Last Call Poker, I think) on the friday of a holiday weekend
and it clearly told us "This is not a game."

I think that's loads of fun to consider. And then, there was this: Is there/Was there a pattern to this that the discerning, grumpyboy-type person would recognize? Coding isn't my thing, so I won't presume to attack it.
