Finally got paired up by using another of my email addresses - this time the message said

Transition approved (mild suspicions). Welcome to Private Beta.
Mild suspicions indeed!

I think that was partly my fault too. I don't think I like them thinking I'm mildly suspicious.

Okay, so I'll withdraw my withdrawal from the game for now. We'll see where this leads. I guess I have a soft spot for stuff that gives me .hack vibes.

Alright, could someone fill me in on the whole red kore/Marc Fiszman thing? i tried reading about it in the forums and it's quite confusing, but does not really indicate what exactly caused the game's notoriety.
I believe I have just volunteered to pair up with Marc Fiszman's mother, which leads me to wonder if she's IG or OOG.
after looking at her blog, I still can't tell. I'll include it here for opinions.
http://susanasworkshop.com/
(as a side note, what led me to this conclusion was:
1. a post written in the third person on Susi's blog, about Susi Fiszman,
2. a comment left by SusanFiszman left on Mar's blog that linked back to Susi's blog
3. Susi responds to her own blog entries as if they are brand new entries on the blog. In a few of them, she mentions her son, Marc. )

Well, since you asked.....
[disclaimer: what follows is my opinion, yada yada....]
Redkore Marc is a troll. He likes to yank players around for weeks just to see what they do, all the while trying to look mysterious and cool. Some people think that what he does is social experimentation, but in my opinion, he just likes toying with people for his own enjoyment. His projects do nothing and lead absolutely nowhere.
In addition, he has turned what he does personal, individually harassing, publicly berating and even cyber-stalking players, again just to see what they do. It got so bad that he was banned from the forums and IRC, if I recall correctly.
Seriously, everyone, do yourselves a favor and avoid this one like the plague . Don't waste your valuable time.

And he has quite an attitude. The forums are funny reading.

Those of us that signed up before the discovery of the matched pair thing, do we have to sign up again?

Did the email ask you to sign up again?
Esteed wrote:
Okay, so before you answered my question I went and signed up using the partner registration in the email. Today I got a message from you guys saying that the transition was denied due to there being a pre-existing object, I'm assuming my previous solo sign-up. Does this mean I don't get to be part of the beta after all?

You are free to rework your PAIR.
Simply follow the instructions, and you will both be accepted.
Several PAIRs have advanced to Private Beta; several have been denied.
Precision is key.

Okay, I used a different email address to try it, hopefully this time I can get in.

Hopefully, you will learn to follow instructions...
Denied.

So the partner has to be someone that isn't already registered? I see. Had I known that to begin with, I wouldn't have had a problem.

If you stopped to think for a moment before acting, you wouldn't have a problem.

Maybe if the email even hinted that it needed to be someone that hadn't already registered, I would have been able to figure it out.
The "Press Release" is not appropriate for any legitimate news forum.

Product development specialist
2007-04-08
We're delighted to announce that Marc Fiszman has agreed to join Gormaticon as a product development specialist. Marc has been consulting for the company for several weeks now as we prepare for Private Beta, and we couldn't be happier to solidify his involvement. Marc brings vast experience to the role, including extensive research into all manner of things.
Said Marc: "Needless to say, I'm pleased as punch. To have the opportunity to work on a regular basis with such advanced… entities is a real treat. And the food's great!"
Then there is the news:
Quote:
Pair is PAIR
2007-04-13
Technical team have confirmed that matched-pair transition to Private Beta grants access to PAIR.
While unclear right now, it appears PAIR is both a relationship and a pathway.
In related news, we are experiencing a surprisingly high failure rate in matched-pair response. Inability to follow simple instructions does not bode well for further advancement.
Precision is key.

PAIRs terminated
2007-04-13
We've been placed in the unfortunate position of having to terminate numerous PAIRs this afternoon.
Needless to say, your partner should be someone other than yourself.
Let us be quite clear: you will not advance if you are unable to follow instructions.
The system will get you, now or later.
Don't fuck around.
Nice way to welcome "Beta testers" and potential "customers".

Thanks vpisteve. Whoever is running the Gormaticon website sounds like a total prick, but you've just given me the needed incentive to run for the hills.
to everyone who's left: Enjoy the anal probing from the Gramaticon development team!

watching a train wreck There was a movie starring Jill Clayburgh -- i think it was "I'm Dancing as Fast as I Can" (1982) -- with a scene in which she has stayed up all night drawing relationship charts on the wall, and explaining in breathless excitement about her ephiphany into how we are all connected thru "ghost triangles"... if you remember the scene, you'll know the feeling I have as I read all this discussion of PAIRs and precision. It is sad and scary to witness someone with a mental illness. I do not think Marc F. is a troll in the traditional internet sense of the word; I think he is sincere about his theories and yet living in a delusional world of his own creation. Getting drawn into that world might be a fun ride, or it might be dangerous, but either way I wouldn't give him any money for the experience. (I still kinda wish I had bought the Teleport lanyard, just to own the plastic chips as memorabilia, but that would have only further encouraged him.)

The funny thing is, we didn't even place the original post. Ms Tarte would never allow it! But thanks to "Gormaticon" for giving us a good titter
Will these people never learn? THIS IS NOT A GAME!!
I have my instincts that he added it andlet me tell you Mister ******...I'll hunt you down!
LOCK/DELETE THIS THREAD!!! I've had enough of his stupid games.
