pervasive games fest, London, May 11-13
Want to run a live game? SEE HERE

Hi everyone,

This is an open call for pervasive games designers & volunteers. Some members of Punchdrunk Theatrical Experiences, with the kind support of Mr Gideon Reeling, are mounting a weekend of pervasive game events at the South Bank Centre, London, May 11-13. The weekend will be similar in style to Come Out & Play New York (www.comeoutandplay.org) although probably not as well organised.

Several games are already planned and we will run a networking event and party, but we are looking for more games and lots of volunteers to help co-ordinate the weekend. If you have an interest in pervasive games, augmented reality games, the live elements of ARGs or you're just plain curious and keen, please get in touch!

We have especial need of tech support for some of the games so if that's your cup of tea don't hesitate to write.

To get the ball rolling I'm attaching the beta test rule set for a new pervasive game we're going to launch at the festival. We don't know how we can make the tech side of it work so there's a challenge for the genius of the Unforums...

All best

It would be a shame to see this topic disappear off the face of the board without any replies no?

Will there be a website viewable in the near future for charming punters to peruse the games that will be taking place?

Also im not entirely certain if my memory is working here but i think Come out and Play got some coverage on the front page of ARGN.. im hoping this may too.. Considering that IonARG is pushing for widespread recognition of Alternate Reality Games it would be a shame to shun or ignore Urban/Big/Pervasive Games that dont run through the internet.

I'm also a little surprised in the lack of interest this post has inspired. Is there any further spec on what kinds of game can be submitted and by when?

Please don't attribute any ill intent to the lack of response here.

Come Out and Play got press in ARGNet because I was lucky enough to get advance notice of it and planned to be in NYC for that time. I also knew Jane McGonigal was going to be there which helped make it more interesting for an ARG audience. I also believe I met one of the Punchdrunk Theater people there--(Hi Alex! You were the Diplomat, right?)

As much as I'd love to go to London for this, someone else who is actually in the UK will have to do the reporting duties this time around. (Any takers? Contact ARGNet and maybe you can be our Reporter on the Spot!)

I do know on it's the ARGNet list of things to write about, but keep in mind that all the staff are volunteers writing stories in their "spare" time. Sometimes things have to wait a bit, and sometimes they get bumped for stories we think are of more interest to our core audience.

It does sound like a great event, and I highly encourage anyone who can get to London for it to participate. If it's half as good as COAP was, it will be a wicked fun time.

I for one wasn't implying any journalistic lack of interest, more that I'm surprised there aren't any contributory offers on here.

it's still happening

Just very slowly... Mr Reeling has delayed his return from the Cricket World Cup and funds are low. We'll be posting more information and getting a website up very soon.

Hi Minkette - see you there I hope!

And ARGNet have been in touch, we're just waiting until we have good concrete info and a website to share with them before we get an article up.

Yours in a state of deep disorganisation & optimism,

Alex (one of mr Reeling's assistants - and yes, I was the Diplomat in NY! Hi Gupfee!)

PS - we still need tech support in the UK, any takers, or advice even? HELP!

Secret?

I don't know if this is a purposefully hidden link or if I'm just blind and can't see the button (probably the latter), but it's only when looking at the source that I found the page for the details of the festival.

I'm already up on there - after a fashion - if you want, I can remove the previous message or add spoiler tags if it WAS meant to be a secret.

Hide and Seek games festival, London
Hide and seek festival

Hello,

Just thought I'd say that the there are a whole lot of games going on here in London next weekend. The Hide and Seek Festival or Hide and seek pervasive games festival, London to use its full name, is kicking it off from 11th May - 13th May 2007 on the South Bank with a base of operations at the BFI Delegate centre.

Take a look at all the adventures you can sign up to here
