 [ANNOUNCE] #matrix live chat transcript

Please correct me if this topic is labeled incorrectly.

A complete transcript of the #matrix IRC channel has been uploaded to http://www.magenheimer.com/chatlogs. It's updated every ten minutes, and should stay that way for as long as I can keep it that way...

Any feedback would be appreciated.

I made the topic a sticky.

The is excellent during update periods. Now all the people who keep pressing Refresh every two seconds like me can read what's happening in chat if they can't get in.

I'm assuming you have a bot doing all the work. Can you make it so that a new file is created for every hour? And then move the old ones everyday into an archive.

A summary each hour is great, but don't give up the every-ten-minute update. Things happen fast when they're happening, and a ohe hour refresh would do us any good if we're trying to work alongside.

Very cool, BTW. Cool

Well, right now, I'm using a combination of Trillian's auto-logging, a task scheduler called Automize, and a scripting-enabled FTP uploader called PyroBatch FTP. Every ten minutes, Automizer runs a batch file that copies "#matrix.log" (the Trillian-generated log), to another folder and renames it to matrix.txt (so I don't get a file access error). Two seconds after that, PyroBatch kicks in and uploads the file to my server.

Not the most efficient method, but until I can write a program or something that does all this in one quick process, it'll stay like that.

I like the idea of the archives, but I can't do that with the programs I'm using now. I'll work on it though.

Just noticed that it's not been updating... I'll fix it when I get home.

OKAY! Everything's good now.

Ehsan, as per your request, I now have it set up so the logs are split up by day, and then archived at the end of the day. I think I'll go eat something now, considering I've been working on this for 3 hours straight...

Anyways, here's the link again: http://www.magenheimer.com/chatlogs

Make sure you read the readme file!
