[SPEC] MHBS

There doesn't seem to be anything in the Wiki about MHBS, or "Morgan's", so I'm going to assume this is something new to season 2.

Of the cards I have
Green #97 6000 Words and Blue #100 To The Power mention it directly, and there's a link to Cogniva, which hooks us into Yellow #6 The Beautiful Game

So we've got one group working on a cure, one group advocating awareness, and a small segment of the population of Perplex City unable to solve puzzles.

iiinteresting.

Well, it seems to be neurological. Is it caused by brain trauma, or is it a sort of developmental deficiency, or even degenerative, like MS?

It seems to create an almost autistic-like state in the patients, where their ability to recognize things that would be considered normal puzzle elements is impaired, or gone completely.

In a society that's built on puzzle solving, that would be debilitating, but it also looks like, from the advocacy standpoint, that they feel the loss of ability to 'puzzle' is a strength, almost like it strips away a layer of deceit from their view of the world, that they're more 'genuine' than people who have to use puzzles to communicate.

Of course, that's all wild spec based on what little I've read. I haven't checked yet to see if any of the new cards I just got have any further insights.

I've come across this in the adult Asperger's community, where some people consider themselves fortunate to be spared all that emotional stuff us neurotypical folks get bogged down by.

I found a few more pointers to the subject today.

Card #99 has text, like a diary entry, from someone with Morgan's. It's interesting in the personal viewpoint, and the steps the writer "Pippy" has to take to conceral her MHBS from friends. You get a window of insight into just how difficult not having any puzzle solving capacity would be in a place like Perplex City.

Cards #133, #134, #135 and #136 describe the cardinal directions leading from a place called "Stone Sleeper Crossroads". A rock formation that looks to some like a sleeping person.

A person by the name of Wendy Maker started researching the site, with some interesting results, and extreme reactions from the nearby towns. She died suddenly from "undiagnosed" MHBS.

(ps... yay for tea!)

To add some more to the mix:

Card #100 (the pamphlet) suggests that #099 may well be from Sophia Westernra's Baffled, a book on MHBS that the Morgan Pride organisation doesn't appear to like very much. But, given we don't know whether the views of Morgan Pride are representative of the Morgan-abled community, it's hard to say whether it's an accurate representation or not. Here's hoping that these card backs get expanded some more soon.
