Congrats on your front-page blog, RedHatty! Smile

BTW, don't think this has been posted yet... But that audio link is posted as a part of this blog:

http://wwotalk.wordpress.com/

Which appears to be IG, run by Dessum9.

Finally, I had a short chat with mPathyTest. It appears she's finished her manifesto.

And YuckyMuck appears to have a blog (linked from http://nalicity.beyondunreal.com/view_author.php?aid=3224) which has been around for a while. The location is here: http://wonglepong.wgg.com/penql/default.aspx

mPathytest: hey there!
mPathytest: i can't chat but i am really excited about this one idea

GSAs I Dont Know: What's up?
mPathytest: "Detensive. The word of our future."
GSAs I Dont Know: Hm? What's it mean?
mPathytest: read the article... very helpful!
GSAs I Dont Know: Ah!
GSAs I Dont Know: Just started reading it now. Smile
GSAs I Dont Know: Ah, yes. Good article.
GSAs I Dont Know: I like the fact that it outlines a plan instead of just complaining about the oil crisis.
GSAs I Dont Know: I agree. I think that's what society needs to become.
GSAs I Dont Know: What do you think?
mPathytest: yes indeed
mPathytest: i just finished up a manifesto for how we can work together to be more detensive ^_^
mPathytest: it involves some... collective experimentation
mPathytest: anyway i have to run but it was fun saying hello again!

GSAs I Dont Know: Cool! Did you put it online anywhere? (the manifesto)
GSAs I Dont Know: Ah! Well, see you around, then. Smile
GSAs I Dont Know: It was nice talking to you.

Since this all officially kicks off April 30th, would anyone be interested in writing a "Story-so-far" summary for the wiki, and for the forums? I think it'll be good to get the entire pre-game summarized for people are who will be joining in. Then we can lock it down, and let the game begin next monday Smile

txchckls AIM chat

lirath (7:08:07 PM): I saw your soybean video. Having lived in Corpus Christi a number of years back, the landscape looked familiar.
txchckls (7:08:59 PM): Thanks! I'm looking forward to moving back, actually.
txchckls (7:09:09 PM): In the middle of packing now!
lirath (7:08:55 PM): That's not a half-bad idea. I have less chance of year-round farming here in MI
txchckls (7:09:39 PM): Too dang cold up there.
lirath (7:09:27 PM): tell me about it...
lirath (7:09:44 PM): I have a feeling fire wood will be coming in handy
txchckls (7:10:09 PM): Although it did snow all over Corpus & area a couple of years ago on Christmas
lirath (7:09:57 PM): heh
lirath (7:10:29 PM): It snowed the 1st winter I was there. They closed down everything
txchckls (7:10:55 PM): I was just reading this news article about $4 gas and freaking out
txchckls (7:11:12 PM): Oh yeah, any snow or ice or even high humidity, they close down the state
lirath (7:11:00 PM): It jumped from 2.59 to 2.86 here today
txchckls (7:11:22 PM): ouch
lirath (7:11:16 PM): and that's at the cheap station
txchckls (7:11:58 PM): Well out in the country it's a longer distance to get places, but hopefully I'll be able to stay put for longer
txchckls (7:12:31 PM): And once we get those soybeans going and processed, that'll be nice
lirath (7:12:15 PM): so...do you think we're going to have to be in smaller close-knit communities, or will cities still work?
txchckls (7:12:53 PM): Heck, I think anything can work... we're pretty adaptable, you know?
txchckls (7:13:24 PM): Might be harder to be sustainable in cities but I've read stuff about people growing urban gardens and the like
lirath (7:13:32 PM): I was mentioning in chat last night that with the Detroit area's dependence on cars, an oil shock could be frightening.
txchckls (7:14:01 PM): Yeah, I bet
txchckls (7:14:27 PM): I'm getting pretty antsy as the date gets nearer, to tell you the truth
txchckls (7:14:33 PM): but I've got moving to keep me busy
txchckls (7:14:42 PM): speaking of which, I should probably get back to packing
lirath (7:14:24 PM): I can't imagine why
lirath (7:14:36 PM): ok...good luck. Whereabouts in TX?
txchckls (7:14:59 PM): I'm in San Marcos
txchckls (7:15:04 PM): moving to the Beeville area
txchckls (7:15:10 PM): about 3 hours south
lirath (7:14:52 PM): I know it well
lirath (7:15:04 PM): across the bridge from CC
txchckls (7:15:27 PM): yep!
lirath (7:15:23 PM): I had some Beeville Bees working for me
txchckls (7:15:47 PM): Thanks for talking to me - I gotta run...
txchckls (7:15:51 PM): check out that article though
txchckls (7:15:52 PM): http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=20670001&refer=news&sid=afOlUzd30YOo
lirath (7:15:39 PM): seeya - I hate moving. Good luck!
txchckls (7:16:02 PM): thanks! take care.

So I was talking in #wwo, and nobody knows of a list of all the player blogs yet. I don't mean going out and hunting down everyone that makes a WWO blog entry. Lots of people here and in the introduction thread have put up their LJ and Vox accounts specifically so that other players could friend them, and I'm talking about a list of those.

Is there a list already? Is there a good place to put a list (the wiki being the obvious one)? Would anybody object to collecting a list like that? If so, could someone start an opt-in player info page and point us all to it?

Howabout putting them here? I don't see how to make it a tab on the top of oilless (do we want to?)

And on livejournal I've been adding a few of you who I've seen post here.

I left a message with mPathytest today, but I got a response as I was logging out, late for a meeting, so I didn't copy it word for word.
He had a link to this article (I think that's the same url, but it's definitely the same article). The message I got was something along the lines of "sorry, can't chat! but I especially found [the idea of/term] 'Detensive' interesting. Let me know if you [read more/what you think]!"

Keyword of the day: Detensive. Opposite of Intensive.

A tad of META

Oh Boy, To the PM's - Hey thanks for the front page add & no I am not asking you to remove it - okay? BUT... All of a sudden, I have, like, a TON of people adding me to their LJ's & subscribing to me on YouTube (ROFL, the only video there is from Monster Hunter Club!) and they are NOT names from UnFiction - at least we know there is an alternate audience!

I am not sure about the "responsibility" of being in a "spotlight" position, but I do realize that I have actually lived through a smaller version of the scenario this game will portray & if anything I have done or learned from Katrina will help others to see how precarious an edge our lives are where oil & energy issues are involved, I will gladly step up to the challenge of sharing & aware-ing Smile

But DUDES, this is so weird!!! Awesome, but weird!!!!!

I think this is the beginning of the user-generated content aspect! (I made a second lj for that purpose). RedHatty, you get more than 15 minutes of SuperHero contribution to the hive! Eeeeeexcellent.
