What ARG will you play after this?

I was an ARG virgin so this was my first experience with any type of alternate reality game. Now that this one is over, I'd like to play another ARG. But I'm at a loss as to where to turn... Suggestions? Any new ARGs that have just started?

Also, what ARG will YOU be playing after this one?

Hopefully Acheron. Its 30 day hiatus is over tomorrow. If VirtuQuest starts another Mini-ARG I may play that too.

I too have never played an ARG before.

Maybe we, the players, should start one, we've seen the highs and the lows of "The Metacortex Conspiracy" or "MetaCoreTechs" or Project Mu as i guess it is properly known. We've seen how to get people hooked, how to produce some stunning puzzles and story lines.

We've also seen how to totally fsck the end, or at least leave people a little disappointed and not tie up the storyline, so maybe we could do it a little better, having been players ourselves?

On the other hand, I'm not at all creative Sad

Hmmm........

I just signed up for Acheron as well. I hope to see a few of you in the forums for this next ARG. I just hope there isn't a lot to catch up on! Very Happy

If anybody's thinking about designing an ARG, I'd love to volunteer my time as a sub-PM!

I'd love to be involved on the other side of the curtain - not entirely sure what I can offer, but I'd love to have a go!

New ARG?

Ok, this could go.
I'm in contact with a few of friends of mine who may be willing to help (Role Players/Novelists/Graphic artists).

PM me if you're interested. Or go to my website and find my email address, either is fine. I'll get in contact with people if and when we get off the ground.

In the initial stages I think it'll be mostly UK based as that's where I am, and it's easier to actually meet up with uk based individuals, but there's no reason that we couldn't involve pm's from other countries when we have the concept and story worked out a bit.

Sound like fun?

This was my first ARG, but how easy would it to start Acheron, considering its been going for ages...

If I couldnt start with a current ARG, I doubt I'd start another one at all unfortunately...

The england based ARG sounds cool, especially if there were scavenger hunts and proper meeting etc, although we would have to find a few english players from around the net, seeing as most of the ones here would be "behind the curtain" lol

Yeah, not sure quite how it's gonna work yet. As I say, maybe when we've sorted the plot out a bit we'll try and take it international, but for initial phases I think it's best if all the writers are in the same country.

I won't promise anything yet, but watch this space......

Cool

You know - I think we urchins formed a good team.. wouldn't it be cool to have some way to call us all into action when a new ARG starts up?

I'd originally thought that perhaps a Yahoo group would work for that... but then remembered that when a message is posted to a thread you have either responded on or clicked "watch this thread for replies" that you get an email.

So, we could start a thread called "Calling the MetaUrchins", we could all click to "watch" it, and then when a new ARG comes up someone could post to it. But, I notice that it seems that on some of the old games the entire section gets locked, so I guess we need some input from a mod about the best place to put such a thread so we can continue to post to it.

I would suggest signing up for the mailing list on ARGN. I know that a lot of people hate giving out their email addresses for fear of spam and lots of unwanted mail, but Steve's a good guy and wouldn't do that to you. I've been on the list since it started and have only recieved a handful of mails from it... all announcing when new games were starting up. It's a great way to find out when something is happening for those that can actually break their addiction to these forums Smile

Acheron had a pre-game dubbed "L3" separate from the current game - just a series of puzzles last year. Then a big gap. Didn't start up again until August and hasn't moved along all that much - addlepated posted a nice quick summary of where we are that should help you catch up. I don't think it would be so hard to catch up right now, and new blood would be good to mix things up and solve that darn crossword puzzle puzzle...
