Sharon's not a university english professor - she is who she is. If the folks behind the curtain are good, and they seem to be since we are collectively being well drawn into it all, then maybe it's even a specific choice to throw that stuff in. Perfect characters are less believable.

On the whole I agree and maybe things have moved on but I've seen games be pilloried due to bad grammar. I guess I'm of the take nothing at face value school of thought.

I'd be up in flames if I weren't convinced that it's being done deliberately to be an in-character thing.

I know this is very cynical but if Nico needs money badly then a bit of stock market speculation might be his answer.

Selling short on oil stocks with a closer date of end of trade on the 30 April should return a considerable profit if these 'oil shock' predictions turn out to be true.

If you don't know what this means you can look it up here. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sell_short

If 8tsoc are serious maybe they should be willing to put their money where their mouth is Razz Wink
Does anyone feel like suggesting it?

I made a suggestion about playing the market awhile ago on one of their LJ's, but it didn't really go anywhere. Also, I'm not sure I agree that going short on this would be wise as I think we'd see an increase in the price of oil securities, not a drop.

Hmmm... True. I suspect that the oil price would spike as you suggest. Embarassed I just need to go and call my broker...

hi i'm new to the game and this is my first time actually playing an arg so i'll probably mostly be stalking for a while but I thought i'd introduce myself and all that.

name's Jul, i actually had my aim, lj and vox all a long time ago and I'm going to actually try to use my real life ones to play the game (that should freak out some of my friends so it will be amusing at least).

i have to add you on aim for you to see me but I'm
ararejul
ararejul.livejournal.com
ararejul.vox.com

and just about anything else you can think of.

i'm really interested in why mpathy would be doing that scifi quiz (then using that to determine what kind of people they are) and i commented to it last night. and she doesn't seem to talk to people directly there so I guess I'll just watch for more updates from you guys while I settle in.

edit: I completely forgot to add that I put myself on the wayfaring map and it looks like I'm the only one in CO so far which is a bit interesting since it's the birthplace of the 8TSOC

On pachinko's live journal the April 24 image has a quote from Macbeth. Harper cries tis time tis time
(always glad to contribute Shakespeare into the mix;always happy to see Shakespeare in a game)

I can't read the background.

The Shakespeare reference comes from the Weird Sisters in the Scottish Play and is actually 'harpier' as opposed to 'harper'. (right on Pachinko - just misquoted but easily done)

It's a corruption of Harpy and appears to be a reference to a spirit creature or familiar for that sister. (the other two having mentioned a cat and a hedgehog) This begins the famous 'double double toil and trouble' speech wherein the sisters brew their odd mixture just before literally all hell breaks loose.

It certainly seems appropriately timed in our situation.

The whole Nico thing

I just saw Camelot again last week so pardon the format.

Proposition: Nico is actually evil and has bad intentions toward Sharon, Grace and others. This is backed by the English portion of the video in which our Bulgarian lady mentions both Grace and her mom, and indicates they would like to see him back earlier than later and that there's special compensation. That doesn't sound very threatening. In this scenario, we need to keep our friends protected. This will be a challenge sice we don't understand the threats.

Proposition: Nico is good but scared to death. The woman has indicated to us that she really wants to know his whereabouts. This is to take him in for having released information he shouldn't have. He's really in trouble for having given us info that will greatly help us face the time to come. Probably the real threats are in the Bulgarian portion of the video (pure spec obviously). In this scenario we need to help him evade detection from home. So - how do we do that? How about creating a fake trail that takes him away from Maine. It should be one we all buy into and one which we reluctantly or mistakenly reveal.

Which way to go? I don't know. Discuss. If he's a good guy, we'll benefit from helping him. If he's our Ben (from Lost), we could be in for it.

Well folks, I have sent out links and audio to native Bulgarians around the world, including an artist right here in my home town whom I located. I actually met with her, just showing up at her office and asking for help - I hope I didn't come off as too "out there", but she's an avant-garde artist, so I'm hoping this kind of thing might appeal to her. Several professors have confirmed independently that the language is indeed Bulgarian, so at the very least that lead is iron-clad. That said, both a professor at Cornell and the Bulgarian artist said they'd be happy to translate, but not until after the weeked. Grrr... Still, they're doing me the favor, so I'll take what I can get. Anyone else having luck with this?
