I got the coin, the personalized letter, the whole horror show. What is going on here?

The envelope seemed mundane sitting among the lurid junk mail, a thing of casual mention. It almost looked pitiful and neglected as it struggled to maintain its balance among my lack of organization. Once I opened it I realized that had been a ruse, that it had been a lurker in the threshold my life, waiting for me to discover it.

I opened PuTTY to calm my nerves. The blinking cursor winks restlessly at me over and over. There is no peace in the machine either. The clock stares blinking at me from two big zeros peering from beside my age. It marks my loss of all that peace and balance. No one is supposed to do this uninvited.

The clock blinks again. 00:39.

(I've added the bolding, it's not on the original post.)

"It marked my loss, at the age of fifty-four, of all that peace and balance which the normal mind possesses..." (from "At the Mountains of Madness")

"The Lurker at the Threshhold" is the Lovecraft book which introduces us to the entity called Yog-Sothoth.

TheMagician sounds like they're taking this worse than HPHack. He mentions PuTTY, which is a telnet client. Could the mentioned numbers '00:39' be used with this is some way as a log in? I hope we can get some scans from the package...

I think the number is '38'. He mentioned his age beside two zeros, and then the clock blinking again, and then the number 39. So his age is 38. Is that important, not sure yet...

Catherwood, what page in AtMoM is that from?

Bryce's watercolor section appears to be a duplicate of one we've already seen.

It's also possible that the number is '12:38'. In 24 hour time systems (e.g. military/european time), 12am is '00:'; so to render it to our (american) system would give us 1238 am. Still not sure what to make of this, though...

Bryce seems to have gotten less content in his package than the rest of us. Where is the page with the circled words?

Strange that someone from SentryOutpost (the site admin no less) would be sent an I Ching page. Maybe the Sentries are getting a different cypher than we did.

Neil Gaiman has a book called "Smoke and Mirrors".

Quote:
"Smoke and Mirrors is a career-spanning collection of short stories and poetry by Neil Gaiman, author of Neverwhere and the comic book series"

Coincidence?!?

No way that's a coincidence, especially given that one of the shorts in Smoke and Mirrors is set in the Lovecraft universe. Hmm!

Profile of an Elder God

Yog-Sothoth, also known as Iog-Sotot, and lastly The Lurker At The Threshold is an Outer God.

The appearance of The Lurker At The Threshold is that of a black amorphous horror.

Going back to an earlier post, I explained hat You Sothoth is also know in relation to the silver key.

The Lurker form is normally locked away from the dimension unless summoned. Among other Mythos creatures, Yoggy is worshiped by the Insectoid creatures, The Mi-Go.

Now here is where some connections to the site can really be made.

To summon Yoggy, a tall stone tower or circle of standing stones is used. After speaking the words of power (I can get them if you want), you need to sacrifice an intelligent being. Also the best time, when the stars are aligned is on Lammas. For those of you without Occult Calendars, that would be normally August 1st. However you can also use May Eve, also known as Walpurgis Night, in the beginning of may. Some places call that day, May Day, or in WICCA, Beltane.

If you follow the book, Unaussprechlichen Kulten, one of the mystic tomes used in Lovecraft Lore, Yoggy is the father of Cthulhu & Hastur

If you really want, I can get you the exact ritual used to summon Yoggy from a few different sources, including my John Dee NecronomiCon. Not that cheesy paperback.

EDIT: I also have a copy of the Unaussprechlichen Kulten if need be.

Eveyone starts somewhere, right? The problem was that I'm keeping a transcript of the mesages on my computer, ant that was the way it was formatted.

By the way, the incident with the green paint actually happened earlier in the year, except it wasn't an all-out paint war. thank goodness, the people probably would have gotten expelled if it had been like that. I'll keep working on

The oddly creepy thing is I just read "The Dunwich Horror" last night.

Ah, that's lovely, that is. Thank you so very much.

I personally could probably do without the words of power, maybe I'll just be skipping that part.

But I'm even nervous around ouija boards. Shocked
