Hrm, could this bear any resemblance to this:

Quote:
The stones line up one after another. Long since abandoned, it's the one place in the city that's sure to be empty. A place to think, to relax, to get away. A place where nobody will judge you. Old statues are scattered throughout, works of art appreciated only by the birds and me. I make my way towards the forgotten angel. Her features were weathered away long ago, her face pocked by the rain, her finger broken and lying on the ground. And then I heard it.

I thought that sounded like a cemetery.

Call Us Up An Outer God!!!

Here's The summoning for Yoggy. If you ask nice I'll post the banishment and maybe even the opening of the gate to infinite knowledge.

And yes, we do make our players in the events we run pronounce the words below to the best of their ability. After all if you are going to immerse yourself in your character, why not go all the way.

There is some other prep work you need to do before hand. Creating a staff of power, setting up a containment ring, etc. But here are the words and some of the somatic components. Man the spell checker must have puked for this one.

Oh, you might want to sleep with the lights on tonight.

Per Adonai Elohim, Adonai Jehova
Adonai Sabaoth, Metraton Ou Agla Methon,
Verbum Pythonicum, Mysterium Salamandrae
Cenventus Sylvorum, Antra Gnomorum
Demonia Coeli God, Almonsin Gibor
Jehoshua Evam Zariathnatmik, Veni, Veni, Veni!

(Put your hands above your head, with the thumbs and index fingers
together so they create a equilateral triangle. Turn the right hand
so its halve of the triangle points down, creating a paralellogram.
Turn the left hand, creating a downwards pointing triangle. Move it
down to your forehead, turning it upwards, so the final result is a
triangle on your forehead.)

Hear me!
King of Infinite Space!
Planetmover!
The Foundation of Fastness!
Ruler of Earthquakes!
The Vanquisher of Terror!
The Creator of Panic!
Destroyer!
The Shining Victor!
Son of Chaos and the Void!
The Guardian of the Abyss!
God of the Outermost Darkness!
Lord of Dimensions!
Riddle-knower!
Guardian of The Secrets!
Lord of the Labyrinth!
Master of the Angles!
God of the Whiporwills!
Omegapoint!
Lord of the Gate!
Opener of the Way!
The Oldest!
All-in-One!
The One by Life Prolonged!
Umr At-Tawil!
Iak-Sathath!
YOG-SOTHOTH NAFL'FTHAGN!!!
Your servant call upon you!

I'm still unsure as to how this all is working, and I'm not really sure as to why, but in stepping back from the mess a bit, I have to complement whoever is pullin' the strings - they've managed to get everyone all riled up. It's a real good demonstration of power and manipulation. I mean, just look at y'all - chasing around crickets with coat hangers and talking about psychics - you've been totally distracted from what you were all doing before this.

It's like when you're out campaigning - you give everyone a big, meaty bone to chew on so they don't see any of your candidate's wounds. Never seen it applied to something like this before, though.

Aside from the PM smugness Razz I'm wondering if this is a nudge? What are we chewing on that's distracting us from the real issue (well, besides hanging around and chatting with the Sentries while not really getting any closer to whatever it is we're supposed to be figuring out...)?

I have to ask, is this really from something written by Lovecraft himself? I understand that his publisher embellished some of Lovecraft's writings after his death, plus there have been many imitators that came after. Forgive my ignorance, but is this something written for the role-playing games? And do such writings carry any sort of endorsement from Lovecraft's estate (if there is such a body)?

I've been, probably wrongly, assuming that the "normal" conversations with the Sentries are the path, or at least the signposts.

In a freakish coincidence, a pigeon fell down my chimney last night. Sure, it's not a cricket, but that's never happened before. I don't know which of us was more startled.

This is from the Simon Necronomicon, a duly created and authorized product done by Arkham House press. The Necronomicon was never truly written by Lovecraft, but was mentioned in his books. From his mentioning and notes, the official necronomicon was created.

A group known as the Lovecraft Circle has the trusts to create additional Mythos elements using his original Mythos. This also includes The Call of Cthulhu RPG, Cthulhu Live, and other mythos products.

Most of the current books available to the consumer are NOT Lovecraft's work, but adapatations of his original works done by Derlth, Bloch, and other in the Lovecraft Circle of writers.

Lovecraft's original stories were nothing but shot stories, poems, etc that he wrote for magazine publications. I am fortunate enough to own several original copies of the stories, unedited n the form of Weird Tales Publications.

So in short, yes, the summoning is Lovecraft Cannon as per the Lovecraft Scholars out there.

cool thanks. Sounds a bit like Bible scholars inferring a missing text based on references to it in known texts. Can one get a college degree in literary archaeology, i wonder? (not an attempt to threadjack, it was a rhetorical question)

OK, so Mkaos reminded us that the site went down on December 17th. Two possibly significant events on that day: first, Saturnalia starts. I don't know how that holiday features into the Lovecraftian mythos, but I'm sure it does somehow (he wrote a poem of that title).

Second, it's Saint Lazarus' Day. Death and rebirth of a guy, death and rebirth of a website.

Big new post from HpHack:
http://www.sentryoutpost.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=548#548

So the big question is: what the hell does "Fal mahdee wal hkaderr wal mustakbal yazubuuna kullahom fee hyo zotho" mean?

Hmm, mouthing out the words, it sounds vaguely like Arabic, but I'm not sure...

*goes to repeat this on SO* Very Happy

I'm pretty sure it's Arabic. Although not spelled the same, Mahdi means "Guided One" and is the supposed prophesied redeemer of Islam, in their version of the end of the world and the final judgement of humanity.
