can provide general WebDev, pretty much anything non-Microsoft - XML/XSL, Java, Perl, JSP and good old-fashioned hand-coded HTML (not PHP, but that's what Brian's for!)

Also have a math background, good for puzzles Smile

How about a wiki?
It's easy to maintain, and makes sure everyone can contribute.
Don't know what a wiki is? It's:
Quote:

The concepts behind "Wiki" may seem strange at first. Wiki is a composition system, it's a discussion medium, it's a repository, it's a mail system, it's a chat room, and it's a tool for collaboration. Really, we don't know quite what it is, but try it and explore its links - it's a fun way to communicate!

Or to quote from the FAQ:
Quote:

Q: So what is this Wiki thing?

A: A collection of Web pages which can be edited by anyone, at any time, from anywhere.

Interesting idea... I'll look into it and decide whether or not it would fit well with the website.

I'll probably be registering the domain tonite (preferrably before the PM chat), but I'm not too sure how long it takes to be activated and everything... Probably pretty quick, but you can never be sure.

I'll be holding a logo contest pretty soon for a MetaUrchins.org "logo". Keep an eye out for details.

BriEnigma: I might end up just linking to your archives as they are, because I have a limit of 500 MB for the website (yeah, kinda small). I want to use most of that space to host mirrors of all the projectMU websites, but I don't know if that's quite possible with only 500 MB to work with. But I'll let you know either way.

We're gonna need a chapter layout (which also means we're going to have to decide on a format for the book), but I think that can all be discussed in the MUforums once they're up.

I was considering requesting the position of Senior Editor (or whatever) for the book, but I'm not sure if I have that kind of time (and I'm not sure what other people think of the idea Wink). Being editor would involve reading and rereading everything in the book for mechanics, style, and organization, planning the content of the chapters and layout of the pages, and possibly writing a preface (not in that order... Smile). If anyone is really interested in that, we can talk. Maybe we can set up a sort of editing "team" so that one person is not doing all the work. Because that's a lot of work....

Right now, I'm not too worried about the visual aspect of the site, because I think we'll be the only ones to see it for now. At some point, though, we can make it look pretty (haha) and announce the site to the general public.

Just my 5.33 cents (adjusted for inflation)...

Really glad to see the book idea starting to take shape. Oh and Peter I would love to be on some kind of team but definitely not any major position such as "Editor", I would just really like to help out any way I can.
Smile

FYI, ARGN has an archive of previous game sites, where we'll likely be transferring all of the MC sites in due course.

That would be REALLY great Space if you guys ever get around to it (I noticed the last news update on there was in April Wink)... I think I'd go mad trying to mirror all those sites.

Also, when you get the chance, I'd like to talk to you about making MetaUrchins.org an ARGN affiliate, if that's possible. PM me.

Hey! I have a perfectly legitimate excuse for that. I'm lazy. No wait! It's because most everything hits the forums before I find out about it anyway! Hrmmm... I really should do something about that, huh? Wink

It's been registered! I'm so excited!

I'll post here when it's ready to be started.

Can't wait! I've found a cool picture of an urchin that I found in a free source. I found another one that was even better one in a Royalty Free site, but it was $50.

I'll attempt a logo this holiday and put it up.

Same here, I can help do html, site maintainance, photoshop, setup forum, mod etc. Would love to help out with the book in any possible too. Maybe we should get a signup page up on the website or start a mailing list or something.

I'm sure you've got a ton of people willing and more than able to help out with everything -- but I've actually got some writing experience if you need anyone to help summarize and get things together in a concise, but descriptive way. Smile
