So I come back after a break, having less things on my plate (and more time) and a will to finally finish a friggin ARG for once, and I see this as a perfect one: pretty small, easy to catch up on... and I discover that the first 10 pages here take me well over an hour to get through. Can someone pretty much summarize what happened in the 30 pages?
Well, the beginnings of a Story So Far has been started here . I can also point you to the wiki here , which compiles most of our findings so far...

Okay, get uF folks going first so we set up the backstory and start the Alternate Reality. Then advertise with linkage back to us & the wiki.
Girdle our loins; prepare for influx. Awesome!

Just wanted to say a quick goodbye to everyone here, as I'll be flying out to Belize for my honeymoon early tomorrow!
I'm having a great time with this game and I hope to jump back into things here when I get back next weekend!

Thanks, and... Thank you. I spotted them shortly after my post and they were incredibly helpful. I also happened to see a note on one of the Wikis... and here you go: An audio recording of the answering machine on BA's phone.

The listing of Arkham Productions at IMDB is actually how I found the movie site. When I said "Maybe this is the actual movie site." , I didn't mean the actual movie site for In Search of Lovecraft , I meant generically as in maybe it was the possible "commercial" link for the game. Might have been better phrased as "Maybe this is the movie site for the actual movie this game's connected to".
Not that there is a commercial connection, I've just had nothing better to do besides dig for one.
I see
There'd been some question about whether that first site was really associated with the movie or not, because it had been vandalised. So I misinterpreted what you'd said. Sorry about that.
Going back to the sponsored advert at "Worse than failure" ...
I've been thinking about that some more and it does seem to be a little out of place. It's a fairly high traffic Tech site so it might just be an OOG way to attract attention, but ...
One of the packages contained a Dilbert cartoon about deliberately generating viruses to profit from an anti-virus tool - which could just be a reference to viral marketing, but why put an OOG reference into a package designed to kick start everything?
Then there's the phrase "Eldritch Errors" - why errors?
The WTF site is for sharing stories about horrific code / software mistakes.
Maybe I'm readin way too much into it and finding connections where there aren't any (especially as I'm a techie, it would be nice if it had that link )
... but could there be a tech angle to any of this?
Edited to add:
Ok after checking danteIL's post above I've realised I misssed the whole Sentry Outpost thing when I read through the 30+ pages here last night.
So there is a tech angle

Seems to be some convergence tactics and attacking the possible player base from different angles by areas of interest ... that said, I wouldn't be surprised to find similar banner ads on psychic or fortean type sites.

I'm not sure that people who go to psychic websites are the target audience for ARGs. I'd stick with the IT sites.

Hello Friends!
Just sounding off right now...I was lamenting not have to the time to follow Year Zero...then I check in here and find out that there's an ARG using Lovecraft and my childhood as backstory material! Guess I'm going to be losing lots of sleep!
I grew up in Deland, Florida...Cassadega was quite literally in my backyard.
Many of the local legends and urban myths use that place as a centerpiece...I've sat in the Devil's Chair at midnight on Halloween, I have!
Although it looks like I'll be up here in NJ/NY for the duration of this game...I'll be around to help in any way I can.
This looks very promising!

Maybe not psychics, but I'm sure some forteans would be very interested - I was hanging around fortean sites long before I ever got involved with ARGs, and now I'm firmly lodged in both communities
I'll keep an eye out for anything relevant cropping up on the Fortean Times forums, just in case

I agree! (Is also a Fortean Times nut and subscriber) especially with the refrence to random crickets appearing out of nowhere
EDIT: And I dont know if it will ever be of use, but if this game ever goes dont the, somewhat 'spooky' side shall we say, Im qualified in Anomalous Phenomena

I remembered FT having an article about Lovecraft a while ago, so looked in the archive and found it. Interested persons can read it here .

Me too! I have a degree in Spooky Weirdness from the University of Fortean. I eat Ghostbusters for breakfast.
[caveat
Mind you, the ghostbusters DO rock. The Real ones, not the Xtreme or Rad or So Awesome Ghostbusters.

I've been messing around with the water colors and I think I've fit the ones we have so far together. It's going to be hard to figure out where those octopus ones go until we get another piece. Is there any way that we can get some better shots of the ones that aren't exactly flat? (I'll rescan mine tomorrow and add it)

btw, you can click on each one to get a closer look.
I've got a little supplement for Varin's picture:

I'm not sure if this is the right place for this, but there doesn't seem to be a thread dedicated to the packages that people received.
I've been browsing the pictures that were included and this one:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/loumac/463153722/
is an etching by Charles Meryon titled "La Morgue" currently in a gallery in Ontario.
http://www.amico.org/univ/sampleAssignments/records/AGO_.87.109.html
Meryon spent the last few years of his life in the same asylum that the Marquis de Sade had been in - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charenton_%28asylum%29
He was confined there after suffering from hallucinations.
