Hell, I solved this little bugger, but now I have to figure out what to do with it.

Just got through the gargoyle and am probably going to call it a night so I won't be asleep at work tomorrow. Very Happy This is super fun!

Just a quick question: did I copy something wrong, or was there a misspelling of a homonym in the first part of the gargoyle decryption? (just to be uber nerdy, while I'm at it). Cool

Is that the one which starts
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
"your right..."?

Yeah, that's what I got too. Got quite irritated at that, because I'm an enormous pedant Twisted Evil

... maybe he did it on purpose to torment pedants like me Shocked

I quite enjoyed that one. Its a beautiful script. I might learn to write in it, just for kicks Very Happy

I'm sure you did enjoy it, waiting for me to solve it.

I was plodding through it...

Just taking the time to enjoy the scenery, as it were. Besides, I think you'll remember it was me who got the key phrase first Razz

Yes, he did and that annoys me. Not quite as much as the misuse of there/their/they're, but a close second.

Yes, this is where I'm working now. I found a phrase that gives me deja vu, but nothing that moves me forward. No hints yet though, I'm still trying to get it.

Ok, that whole thing was a load of crap. I just got extremely lucky and pressed on and whadda know ... a new page. If I hadn't been writing a guide describing my progress, I probably would never have figured that out. Mr Gecko is truly a meaniehead.

Yay you are pretty much on the puzzle of evil with the circles Very Happy

I am hating it. Worse even than the roaches. Still not got anything that looks remotely legible.

That's where I am.

I had a thought though ... do you know of any online tools that transpose rows and columns of text?

Off the top of my head, no

But I did do this, should have posted it sooner. Because I like dealing with letters rather than strange squiggles Smile

Code:

ABCDEFGHAJKLMNFOPCCDQE
RSCTUDVWVCWXUCVCYSCJFA
HSFXCXHBHHMHCYIZTL*UBU
BCRDBZD*OQEEDSNADSWUKX
CGS#CTDVAXWWVG@CJMDSCG

That's the symbols transposed to letters. Rather annoyingly, there's 29 of them. I tried doing a frequency analysis on them but nothing really looks like any words.

That's because frequency anaylsis doesn't account for the three most common punctuations . , and ?/!

A-Z , . and !/? are our 29 characters I'd bet.

Edit : unless the spaces between words are encoded with a character. That would be bastardly.

Even so, E and T should outstrip them in frequency terms, surely. They're generally the only two I start with and then go from intuition Smile

Although I am with you about the punctuation, it makes sense.

Yes, yes it would. I really wouldn't put it past him after Deja Vu though
