 		Package Retrieved! May 6 in NYC's Alphabet City
a note from DC to BA with a drawing -- and a finger!
Bingo! It was such a nice day I decided to take the trip to Alphabet City. When l got to the Palm Reader and asked if there was a Nicole there, I was told yes. I said a friend had left a package and she perked up, telling me to come back in 10 minutes. When I returned, She sat me down and asked me again why I was there. Repeating my story, I said the package may have my friend's name on it, B.A. Saint Feline. She handed me the package and then told me that whoever left it had paid for a tarot reading. Seriously, I'm not sure if this is where B.A.'s part ended and where the pyschic's salespitch began.

Supposedly I'm going to live till I'm 91, have 3 kids, and move to either California or Florida. I should also watch someone with the letter J in their name and I have a heck of a problem with bad spirits. She was pretty adamant about selling me special white candles to cleanse me of the buggers. Two very special $220 candles. When I turned her down, she tried to sell me a $50 piece of green stone. Yikes!

The white cat referred to earlier seems to live at or near the Palm Readers, as she was circling around outside the shop. Since B.A. saw the cat in her dreams, I suppose she can talk to dreamers just like Lovecraft's dream kitties.

I searched around looking for our angel, but no luck. I think our package had a part of her though. It included a note from a 'DC' which I assume was meant for B.A., and the severed gray/green finger from what I presume to be our angel statue.

What's the best way for me to upload images here?

Woo! That's fantastic! I'm glad that you decided to go and I'm more than a little amazed that it actually paid off.

If you have images, you can either upload them to flickr or the wiki and provide the link, or add them to your post as an attachment. I'm soo curious about what was left for BA.

 		Ok, They're uploaded.

So, what if B.A. and DC can see each other's waking hours through dreams? From this note and her postings it feels like when she dreams, she's seeing what he does in his waking life and can follow him. He can do the same for her. They both know this and communicate through their dreams. B.A. saw him leave this package for her in her dream and was supposed to pick it up. Instead, we intercepted it.

Does that mean there's two cities? Two New Yorks? The normal one B.A. wakes up to, and the chaotic one filled with destruction that she visits in her dreams? Is DC living in the hellish city that's experiencing the 'end times'? He asks for her protection...

Maybe it's not B.A.'s protection. Maybe it's the cat's themselves... a real Saint Feline. I keep thinking of the Lovecraft cats.

And then there's the finger. Didn't someone mention a statue with a missing finger legend? I don't remember it looking like DC's drawing though. And what's B.A. resisting? Something she's asked us to do...

Okay, so I'm not sure what this note from DC means. I like sinyx's speculation about the dream communication between BA and DC, though. Didn't one of the recent CLs have something about 'inextricably linked' with the two-handed solitare game, etc? Maybe that's what this is talking about.. I dunno..

I haven't been over there all day. Most definitely all of this information - the spec on the location in NY, your visit to the fortune teller and the subsequent package should be mentioned on the Dreams thread in the Field Work forum. And the link to your pictures (maybe someone here can capture & upload to the SO wiki???).

EDIT: As far as I know, we don't know if DC is a guy or a girl, but I used "he" in this entire post. I'm too lazy to go change all of the references to "(s)he".

Sweet! Very nice, sinyx! Definitely post it at SO.

I posted a transcript in the attachments. A few thoughts on the note:

This sounds like DC didn't tell BA the package was there, she just guessed. Is the tarot shop somehow important or did she just psychic-ly sense it?

Somehow I think the thing she's telling people to do is something about fleeing the disaster, but this is obviously really cryptic.

Also, there's a purposeful parallel there. Is DC equating the two? He came there because she was resisting? Is the tarot shop the place to do what she's resisting doing?

Whatever it is, it can be done by another person, so it's not just "run away" or something.

What does the "but I am no closer to knowing why" part mean? Grammatically it seems like he has no idea why he did it for her, but I think he means he is no closer to knowing why she resists. Regardless, it's very irrational for her to resist apparently. Not only does he not think she should resist, but he actually doesn't even know why she's doing it.

Who is "she"?

This is a sentence fragment done for stylistic effect, so "she" is probably important.

Paragraph 2:

DC expects BA to pick up the note in person. Also, danteIL said that BA said in one of the craigslists that "She will hand them a note which I will never read and part of me will never hold." So maybe holding the note would be significant for some reason?

They talk to each other in dreams. Apparently DC is psychic in some way too. Also, why bother with dreams? Maybe that's the only way they can talk to each other?

Paragraph 3:

BA can see the future, and DC can't. (Or at least DC hasn't seen that part yet.)

Also, they're apparently going two different directions in some way, and I get the feeling DC might be on some sort of journey.

And yet another mispelling of "too".

Paragraph 4:

Coming right after the last paragraph, I can't help but think the two are related. BA and DC obviously had a history of some sort, and this makes me think that in some way they were "happy together" (as friends or even romantically) in the past. DC is sad because (s)he is leaving BA maybe? Or because BA isn't doing whatever it is?

This is what has me stumped the most, but it seems very important.

OK, time for some crazy spec.

[WILD SPEC]

Going off the dreamland theory. BA has been warning the other psychics she hangs out with that she sees a disaster coming. She wanted them to cross over into the dreamland permanently to escape the disaster, but was hesistant to do so herself. Maybe in order to try to warn us, the mundanes.

DC wouldn't leave without her, so he went to the tarot shop to try to "do it for her". He needed the tarot shop for one reason or another, maybe just because it's a powerful place, or he needed something they sell there, or he needs the help of the psychic lady there. Here I have two diverging theories:

A) He succeeded, and BA is now communicating to us from the dreamworld. This is why she isn't returning calls to her Earth phone number. This has the problem of the note itself. Why leave a note for someone in a different dimension?

B) He needs BA to come to the "portal" at the shop in order to activate the "magic". This is why BA didn't go herself and could point to a possible significance for the whole "holding this note" theme. This is also why BA and DC have to talk in dreams. This has the problem that, according to our Lovecraft experts, you need to be asleep to travel to the dreamworld.

Could be I'm not even close, but I thought I'd throw it out in case it sparks any other ideas.

You should definitely post on the SO forum about something which furthers the progress of the game. Perhaps some of us will feel more comfortable posting spec here in our inner sanctum, but yours was an ingame event. If that information is not shared with the characters, the game stalls. You may or may not want to post the URL of your personal server, that's completely understandable if you wish to keep access to it limited. I'm sure someone will offer to take your image and upload it to the SO wiki, at which point you could even delete it from your server.

In hindsight, that would have been a GREAT question. I was so into saying a 'friend' had left the package that I didn't even think about that angle. I hope I didn't fumble this. I've never done a live game event before and have to admit I was pretty nervous and giddy. It was a lot of FUN though! Well, until she started giving me the hard sell and I was trying to get out of there without forking over any money. Sad

Part of me wonders if she may have been the real woman who worked there and was asked to give one of us the package. I think it was the asking me to come back in 10 minutes thing. She originally thought I wanted a reading and pushed it hard towards the end. Could that happen or is it always an in game character? I have no idea what a 'real' psychic would look or act like.
