So what does everyone think... Should I leave a message for B.A. saying I have her package? I don't want to make any moves without discussing it first.

I say go for it - and try to read the letter if you have enough time - if worst comes to worst, the PMs will just ignore the message Razz

This is probably so stupid its laughable, but there is a a building called 'Broken Angel' again in Brooklyn.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/onebadapple/sets/127493/

It looks hellishly cool.

Look at what is mentioned on the flickr:

Quote:
Last night someone placed a broken angel statue in front of my parent's door at 4 Downing Street.

Shocked

ALSO - there are tons of cats there. And at one point there was a big fire as well.

Just stumbled accross this.

Edit: There was a mention of 'gates' in the craigslistings, The road where The Broken Angel is situated, crosses a 'Gates Avenue'.

I actually looked long and hard at Green-Wood...but I thought the distance might be a prohibitive factor. I found a few angel statues there missing fingers.

The path to the angel is well-worn from my nightly visits. I sit on the ground and lean up against the cold stone base.
Even from this low on the ground, the view is spectacular.

Highest Points in the Five Boroughs of New York City

  • Manhattan - Long Hill (Fort Washington/Bennett Park) - 265 Feet
  • Bronx - Fieldston Hill - 285 Feet
  • Queens - North Shore Towers Hill (Glen Oaks) - 258 Feet
  • Brooklyn - Battle Hill (Green-Wood Cemetery) - 220 Feet
  • Staten Island - Todt Hill - 420 Feet

Todt is a variant of the Dutch word for death, referring to the Dutch and Native American burial grounds believed by many to have been situated here.

The view of Staten Island from the ferry terminal in Manhattan looks eerily like the Sentry Outpost's background image.

I noticed that in the note that came in the package the letters I E I D are much darker than the other letters. The D and E are slightly offset too. This could spell I DIE. I don't know if this helps in anyway.

Wow, I didn't even noticed that the letters spelled anything. Nice catch!

Nifty!

Although, to be honest, I personally won't be looking into it more. Too many ARGS with darkened/shifted letters that were just there because of bad handwriting. Smile

On the other hand, maybe they knew that and they're just trying to throw us! Foily!

The radio tower in the middle of the photo is on the summit of Todt Hill. From the picture it looks like that building is NE of the radio tower.

I skimmed over google maps satellite photos of the area and the only two buildings that look big enough in that area are the College of Staten Island (Campus Drive), and what looks like another school/college building (baseball diamond and track next it) that's at the intersection of Milford Dr and Ocean Ter (just south of the Staten Island Expressway).

Neither of them are near a lake though (I can't see any 'towers' near any of the lakes).

On the other hand, a section of Todt Hill is called Moses Mountain http://www.sigreenbelt.org/Trails/Trails.htm

I say call her, who knows, maybe we'll get more "kloos" in tomorrow's CL's, if there are anymore.

Historical Information Prior to 1927
As the ferry boat approaches St. George the stranger is sure to be impressed by the high stretch of land just back of the ferry slips. Crowning the summit is a large greystone building, whose square towers and massive proportions stand out very clearly. This is the Curtis High School.

Source: History of New York State 1523-1927
Publisher: Lewis Historical Publishing Company, Inc.-New York, Chicago.

Curtis High School
The original building of brick and limestone is dominated by a large square turreted tower inspired by English medieval models. Additions were made to the building in 1922, 1925 and 1937. Curtis was designated a New York City Landmark on October 12, 1982. The gym and cafeteria wings were added at a later date to the original building's neo-Gothic architecture.

Another large building is the St. Francis Friary and Center for Spirituality residing at 500 Todt Hill Road.

Alright, just wanted to let everyone know I called B.A. and left a message. Essentially I said that we've been following her posts and found a package that I believe was meant for her. I told her that it contained the finger and a note from DC, who sounds like he may need help. I offered our help and left my number as well.

I also replied to her through Craigslist; saying the same and giving her the whole contents of the note. Hopefully she'll contact us back somehow.

If memory serves me correctly, I think that's an uncommon male angel who has all of his digits. [ETA: see here and here]

And sinyx......just be thankful it was only a finger. Wink
