Rock in water

To me it looks like a rock just under the surface of the water. Does anyone know if the Bay of Bengal has tiny islands in it. It could be the same as last years plate puzzle, also does anyone have the answers from last year, has any of the coordinates been the same!

aye, port royal was used, but no other so far.

Unfortunately, I cannot remember much about last year, except the malacca straights

Do a search for POTC, set to display as topics andlist ascending and you will get info on last years hunt.

I did a search of last year and Port Royal was used but the coordinate was 1755, this year its 1757 same last coordinate though.

I mistakenly clicked on a link from last year and this years puzzle told me it was the wrong coordinate. That was kind of weird but funny, I guess you had to be there. Still fishing for answers

Last Years Coords

I still have last years coords. They are as follows:

Sargasso Sea: 2722N 6702W
Bermuda: 3216N 6453W
Madeira: 3238n 1653w
Tropic of Cancer: 2042n 2840w
Isle of Saint Mary: 1706s 4948e
Saint Helena: 1555s 0542w
Pulau Jong: 0112n 10347e
Diomede Island: 6545n 16854w
Isla Mas a Terras: 3338s 7849w
Cape Horn: 5559s 6716w
Cozumel: 2017n 8658w
Isla Culebra: 1818n 6518w
Port Royal: 1755n 7649w

They will all pop as "wrong coordinates" (I checked while copying the #'s). Funny though; This year they are using the coords in the title of the bookmark, when last year they used the locale's name.

So, call me a pack-rat, but I archived alot of last years stuff in anticipation of this moment. Never know when it might come in handy Very Happy

 time spacing on puzzles
time

Ursa wrote:
24 days and 12 puzzles puts it at a puzzle every other day. I'm sure there will be a few twists thrown in. If I remember correctly, last year had them spaced similarly and didn't we have a few puzzles together and then a longer wait?

All I know is 24 days sure doesn't feel like 24 days in this time zone......of Volvo creation. Last year(seemed even longer than a month...) It was usually one maybe two puzzles then wait three days and so on. The water puzzle had to come up again, we've crossed too much water and not really landed anywhere except with the crabs and you saw where that lead. Laughing

Hey did anyone notice what time Ceylon really opened? I was keeping tabs on Sri Lanka time when I noticed that they are actually not upto the hour. It was the first time I had seen a 30 minute difference in a time zone. My belief is that the puzzle opened between 9 & 10 EST. I checked it from work at 9:00 then popped in sometime before 10:00. ( I wanna say 9:45ish) and was surprised to see it open. Did anyone else notice this or am I delusional?

I just thought this might be noteworthy if we are in the same situation (time zone). As Sassy stated though: We learned last year that time doesn't really make a difference until the finals.

Yeah, there are half hour incremental time zones in Asia. I based the Bay of Bengal time zone on Chittagong time because of the lat/long of our location....and because Calcutta is in one of the half-hour time zones like we expected Ceylon to be. Ceylon should have taught us that they aren't using such modern divisions.

Ceylon opened at 7 am California time (PDT), just like all the previous locations have. I noticed it at 7:08. It had NOT been open for me at 6:47.

Not that it matters until the final round......I know, I am a broken record! Very Happy

The 20:00 hour start point seems to be constant... So I think that takes away from the 1/2 hour start up for many of us...

Capt Jenny,

I tried replying to your PM but it wasn't showing in the sent messages afterwards so, not sure it made it.

The reason it was odd to me is that we have family in Omsk, which is GMT +7:00 hours, where Columbo, Sri Lanka is at GMT +5:30 hours and they're nearly longitudinally parallel (Google Earth shows this nicely). Thus I'd have assumed Sri Lanka (ceylon) was at GMT +6:00. This 30-minute-Asian-time-zone thing is news to me. I guess I need to travel more Laughing

Good stuff to know though for fact junkies...

Google the 'world time' in these cities and you'll see the difference.

The tech's have been working on my machines at work so, they probably reset a clock or two. I just didn't notice until now...

Any guesses on when we'll be using our map again? Considering the frequency we used the online map last year and absence of it this year, I'm wagering sooner than later...

Based upon last year

Looking at the world map in relation to where we are now are next couple coordinates should have nine digits.

Last year we had two puzzles with nine digits which through a lot of people off, we are much wiser this year, as they say.

And with wisdom comes great reward!
