I live in Salt Lake City. We certainly have mountain passes and lush landscape, but nobody plays or frolics in the Great Salt Lake. We just gag when the wind blows its stench in our direction. There's also the fact that SLC is only tangentially in between Boise and Reno. As awesome as it would be for this to be about my hometown, I doubt it is.

Thanks for the info and setting me straight. Although my state is home to 4 of the 5 Great Lakes, I doubt the CL posts are talking about here, either.

There are three towns/cities named Boise in the US - ID, TX, and WA. There is only one Reno that I can find, though, in NV.

Lake Tahoe isn't terribly far from Boise ID, but it isn't between it and Reno.

Hey Eggnog, didn't know there was another SLC person in the community. The Part about "the wind blowing across the barren wasteland" reminds me of the salt flats. Which is on the way to Reno via I-80 through Wendover.

The first is an odd one, and probably for those that speak tech...another port?

Well Xé:3a also appears in the recent 'Yog-Sothoth' text from SO:

Interesting....but accented incorrectly? The numbers are used for sounds that don't exist in English. (The "3" represents the sound of a "glottal stop")

Okay, some *early* spec:

We've already seen that she wakes up on the 13th floor of this building in her dreamworld. So far, in these posts (which seem to be more coherently ordered than previously), she seems to get on the elevator on Floor 13, gets pushed out again on Floor 12 (hence room 1217) and then goes down eleven flights of stairs to the ground.

About room 1217:
Quote:
People gather in groups, spilling out of the rooms, the largest at 1217. Hundreds of people. Planning an attack? Curious, I look at the door. Xé:3a.

This could be referring to our own planning of the dream attack at SO. Given the recent discussion of ports, it would make sense if this referred to "port 1217," although that doesn't seem to lead anywhere if you try to access it at SO or ronomi.com. A couple of more thoughts about this, though:

1) The strange language stuff is coming in over port 5217. Is this a mistake (should be 1217) or purposeful alteration in the dream?
2) If BA is truly on the 13th floor, then does she have something to do with whatever is going on at port 1313? (and what about the 10th floor, at port 1031?)
3) One of the strange processes is called screamer.c. We've all seen that 'screams' are a pervasive feature of BAs dreamworld. Notice that at room 1217
Quote:
A piercing scream penetrates the air.
This is probably referring to screamer.c.

EDIT: Two more-

They still feel like they're coming in order. And that last one is pretty harsh on us!

You: Passing

A low growl greets me as I approach the fence, but I am not afraid. Providence cowers. Too timid to attack. Too skittish to look me in the eye. As people pass by, he barks at their shadows reluctant to confront them head on. The yard shows signs of digging, but there is no evidence in this world of what, if anything, has been found.

Evil lurks. Its sinewy web radiates out from the corner. Providence howls.

I'll bseeingu
BA

So is the dog us or Sentry Outpost? This last post sounds like a taunt. Right now the debate on SO is to either shut down the ports that are being used (yard shows signs of digging) by the unnamed intruder or to leave them up and try to collect more evidence about what's going on. Which one is more 'cowardly'? BA obviously wants us to 'attack'.

I think the dog is definatley us. I kinda get the impression shes saying 'we've only just scratched the surface - but were looking randomly in the wrong places' you know, with no clear pattern.
I dont know though, I kinda get the feeling we or someone at SO is going to have to hack something (from the attack refrence)

The taipei CL sounds like its in response to a dream I left her. Only trouble is its W4M

I said:

Quote:
My dreams are as real as ever, Through the confusion I now see an angel. Shes like a beacon to me, pulling at me through the insanity of my dreams. Shes broken but I cant fix her. I cant find her anywhere. I search frantically, but through the panic of not being able to find her, I run the risk of becoming crazy like everyone else. I cant find her and she needs to be fixed. Help me find her...

CL:
Quote:
They're asking you for directions to the broken angel. But you don't know. Have you really never been there? The old cemetery with the winding paths.

Is this all just my imagination? Have I lost my mind? Have fallen into the madness?

Probably. I've ever seen a place like it before. It's really just in this world, but is it even here?

It must be. How else would they know about the angel?

I don't have time to go over this stuff now which makes me unhappy. But maybe the order of the places are important? Did we map each one? Why have two Athens posts? Is she saying that Reno and Boise may be different from the cities we thought originally? I even wondered if they might be names on Tombstones in the cemetery.

Now I'm not sure which world she is talking about... it sounds like the cemetery is a real place in this world. I may have to go out to Green-wood.

Wow, we aren't doing so well. Sad

I think someone may need to go to the Salt Lake City public library.

Quote:
I look for the the little girl on the steps as I pass by the library. Of course, she's not there. Neither are the books nor the broken glass. The window has the same long crack in it that it's always had. It hasn't been replaced. How is that possible? You were there. You saw it. I saw you.

2006 explosion
On September 15, 2006, a small bomb exploded in the third floor of the main building. No one was hurt, and the damage sustained by the building was a broken window.

There is also a coffee shop in the library and she talks of caffeine in http://bellingham.craigslist.org/mis/329369902.html.

Maybe? Just an idea? No? Wild goose chase? And I don't know what we might be looking for?
