Your rant would have made a lot more sense if you'd mentioned that earlier, you know. I was wondering what you were talking about too.

You do not need to know or understand the language to solve the puzzle. You do need a decent ear for distinguishing sounds. He says a couple words that are very similar but aren't the same.

Those with any kind of hearing handicap may be unable to solve this puzzle, since it's audio only -- someone apparently decided that useful text subtitles would make it too easy.

Singapore

I agree with Sassy and Alpha-Omega. Why can't we be given a chance first before they spoil it? And did anyone else see that it says Singapore will open at 2200 on 5/13 at THAT LOCATION's time??

What time is it in Singapore now so we can now what time EST?

And this is what I'm doing on Mother's Day!!!

Well, I figured that out AFTER the whole answer thing came to light. I was searching languages with a Hindi or Thai base first, that got me 3s when it should have been 1s, so after the answer got posted I went back and looked at the Wiki article again on the Sentinels and the island group. Part of the article said that the only experience they had trying to figure out their language was limited to a few brief words, but they thought it was intrinsic to the Southern Andaman Islands, and of course, right below the Andamans are the Nicobar Islands.....so that got me to Google "nicobar" and "numerals".

I do not know the ins and outs of this, BUT there may be a perfectly good explanation.

Last years winner was a COMPUTER PROGRAMMER. Several of us on here have dabbled with pulling the flash apart, but what if he has managed to crack the encryption they are using on there website. He may be able to view the directory structure of the site, and I am betting that they put the next puzzle up before they open the current puzzle. If so, all he may be doing is reading the files from the real directory, not the virtual one we can see. IF, and I do stress IF, this is what he is doing, then it is no different to us pulling the flash apart.

However, IF he has inside knowledge, then he IS cheating and it would also cast doubt on his eligability for last years prize.

/sanity check

Maybe I was wrong...

But listen guys…"my" coordinate sweep program wouldn't work. I didn't try it, but here's why it won't work…

I tried entering decipher's coordinates early just in case he was right and they wouldn't work ahead of time. I entered them in the URL but to no avail… That means we CAN'T test a coordinate system ahead of time to determine it's validity. I don't know how he knew for sure…

Coordinates

Last year I tried ahead of time to get into a location by trying different coordinates that I had done in excel by cutting and pasting into the search bar.

It worked but it was a pain in the you know what that way.

It will come up with the wrong coordinates but it will state NOT YET in the search bar instead of just wrong coordinates.

A computer program would have to know that is what it is trying to get as a result.

It should not be to hard for our puzzle 12's answer since we know we are going south of Java.

Conspiracy theories everywhere about poor Decipherguy.
The guy who posted the location 45 Minutes early.

Fact of the matter is a locked server can be port scanned but
I'm pretty darn sure the ports will be protected from answer
backs and common scan tactics.

Chances are good that poor Decipherguy got his answer from a
little known game forum which we are not familiar with, or he
simply figured out the answer from another countries portal by
simply spoofing his IP location and nothing more.

I can almost guarantee that no one has "Hacked the Planet" on
this one folks. Please, have a nice glass of rum and relax
folks.

I'm from Toronto, Canada and I'm playing the game through the
Canadian game portal.

Easy now folks, easy.
