[UPDATE] Violet Underground - May 12th, Again
Quote:
Apolyton, Again Saturday May 12, 9:18pm
Sometimes it really does come in handy to be 'kind of well-known.'
Just had a tip-off. Got a call through my key. Anonymous, untraceable - really untraceable, Kurt's taken a look and he has no idea how they did it. The voice was anonymised too - just one of the standard voices keys use when they're reading out text. It said this:
"Ms Kiteway, I work for the Apolyton Institute. I can't tell you who I am. I can tell you this: we know about the parcel delays. Someone has been reading our mail. We don't know who. Internal investigations here are under way. We will find the perpetrator eventually. But it may be too late. I had to speak because I believe the danger of these security breaches has been underestimated.
"The postal delays first began several months ago. They coincided with the disappearance of the plans for some extremely sensitive technology, developed by Apolyton purely as a theoretical exercise. The use of this technology is illegal in Perplex City, due to the extreme risk to human life. The stolen plans are for a "neural override" device. The danger is real, Ms Kiteway, though not to the people of Perplex City. We have learned that the plans were sent to an IP address on Earth - BBC Radio 1."

Hmm. There doesn't seem to be anything relevant on the R1 site. I wonder if they'll announce something on the air, and if so when? Any dedicated Radio 1 listeners on this forum?

Huh?! Radio 1? Could it have anything to do with this R1-linked oddness about "Frozen Indigo Angel" posted a couple of weeks ago?
I must confess, I've read nothing more about that than the thread I've linked to, but seems like a bit of a coincidence. I just recalled it being linked to R1, that was all. If it's entirely unconnected, it looks like good ole Radio 1 are suddenly turning into ARG overlords
I've had a lousy day, so might think about things a bit better tomorrow.

I think i may have stumbled on something here, bare with me while i try to explain:
I was scouting about after the mention of FIA and looked at a few forums when i found this:
http://www.unofficialmills.co.uk/com...t=6555&page=90
If you look at that puzzle, it looks like braille.
When coolmark18 translated this, he got:
silbur
ngri77
sminin
g.co_
so seeing that, i thought of silburn griggs mines!!!!!
Typing www.silburngriggsmining.com into the browser took me to the website. i thought this was strange as all season 1 websites had been closed!!
So...
This means the mines might play a part in this now.
What do you think?

Hmmm. The site from the mines escapade was the awful-looking http://www.silburn-griggs.com/ which was for the Silburn-Griggs Historical Society (or Soceity as they've spelt it). The one from that Braille thing is http://www.silburngriggsmining.com/ - presumably the official company site, which is much easier on the eyes
So is this a new site, or just one that was there but we never found before?
Either way, it certainly provides the link between PXC and this FIA thingy, so well done for looking and putting things together.

Well it's got to be new as all the Season 1 websites that were involved are now inclused in the "wayback" section on perplexcity.com

actually (fFor the time being) most of the s1 sites work.
fFor example:
http://www.seaside-press.com/
http://www.perplexcityacademygames.com/
All the sentinel articles are moved, and all of violet's articles are moved. That's the two biggest things at the moment.
On a related subject, I'm in the process of running through and updating every link on every page of the wiki which points to a moved Season1 resource. It's a fFairly large task, so bear with me.

Oh my. I do love two seemingly separate things coming together suddenly. With Violet pointing to BBC Radio 1 and the BBC Radio 1 Frozen Indigo Angel thing having a puzzle that lead to www.silburngriggsmining.com (definitely being the PXC Siburn Griggs from the copyright year being 264) it looks like we have some definite connection here.
And with regards to in the puzzle solve by coolmark18 (over at unnofficalmills ) the 7's are actually g's so it comes out as:
silburngriggsmining.co_ with the _ being an empty spot with no dots.
So.... now to go tell Mr Paul Denchfield that his problem has now become an iinterdimensional one.

ok, who recalls what happened at Silburn-Griggs? Here's a recap: Kurt was in love with Miranda, then she went nuts. She tried to kill him a time or two, then left the city. Kurt gave chase, and ended up at some obscure old mines. (Those may be the same mines which Nathan Earlywine pushed to open up earlier that year) Kurt fFound Miranda in some sort of secret underground Third Power lair. After Kurt accidentally killed Miranda, Violet showed up and Kurt & Violet made a speedy escape. They sped away as a fFew dark individuals raced into the mines. Sente informed Violet some day or two later the mines had been discovered collapsed. It was assumed the Third Power imploded their own base to cover their goings on. In the months that fFollowed, we learned Police Detective Helena Frye also visited the mines. What she discovered was alarming. She had always assumed whoeever stole the cube would have needed some sort of lead lined vault to keep the Receda Cube in. She fFinally discovered her vault, sans cube, deep in the mines.
Get that? The Third Power intended to steal the cube and keep it in a vault, in a secret lab at Silburn-Griggs Mines. Anyone who associates with the mines is almost certainly not to be trusted.
Postscript: The website is Copyright 264. That's 2001, the year the Centre fFor Reality Research was established. That may be irrelevant, but bear in mind the CRR controls the link to Earth.

... Wow ...
I'm going to be up all night.
EDIT: Then again; Where I live the fastest internet available is via satellite, and it must be cloudy because I'm having a terrible time sorting through all of this new information... I'm giving up and getting some sleep.

This will be interesting - wouldn't it be a larf if all the tickets ended up in the hands of non-PXC players who aren't aware of the connection!

Well, now it's a far more sensible time of day here, and assuming today goes better than yesterday, I know what I'm going to be reading up on a bit later.
Does anyone else think that S2 is now getting properly under way? Involving the Beeb seems a bit much for just a teaser-type thing to me. *rubs hand gleefully*
