Sounds fun to me, I'm in the UK.

Who have we got in the UK?

So far I know xtrava, King Mob, ParityBit, Zimbu and myself. Anyone up for a night out in London sometime?

Hell yeah Wink

You might have got a few more if the thread title didn't specify NYC Idea , I only came in 'cos I'm bored.

And in my part of the country, the beer is neither warm nor flat. Razz

I think the NYC get together is being put off for a while, the Thanksgiving thing is messing with people's schedules, but I'll try to organize something in the near future. Updates will be posted right here.

I think the date's been suggested, but I'll do it again...

Saturday Dec. 6th (one week from tomorrow)
Jesse's Place
812 W181st St.
Time: Evening?

As far as time, later is better for me but in true Democratic fashion I defer to the crowd.

joebrent: is this place on the corner, and you gotta go down a couple of steps to enter? If so I think I've been there....

I'd go, but I am in Southern NJ. Is that a real place? How funny is that

So, my December is a little screwy, and I think people will be all over the place as the holiday season starts in earnest. So how about we schedule a mid-January NYC get-together? Jan 10th is a Saturday, perhaps we could do a lunch (and move on from there)?

If this sounds good to you, indicate with a 'yea' or 'nay', and also tell me how you're getting into the city. If an overwhelming majority of people are taking the GW Bridge in, I'd say let's meet at Jesse's at 181st and Ft. Washington. If the Holland Tunnel, then Great New York Noodle Town in Chinatown. If the Lincoln Tunnel, then maybe Soup Kitchen Int'l (the soup Nazi) on W. 55th.

If you're flying in, you're a supertrooper, and your vote counts twice. I think that's fair.

I'm good for either time. On the 6th I may have to leave early for a christmas party.

I'll be taking the PATH. Classy! Wink

Take the ferry instead. There's one that goes from Hoboken to 38th St Manhattan, with a shuttle bus that'll take you to whatever subway you want. It costs a little more ($3) but it's infinitely better than the PATH.

Then again, NYC subways aren't exactly "travelling in style" Smile

Dec. 6th is ok, but January 10th is in the middle of reading period, the week before final exams, so I doubt I'd be able to go...it'll be pretty busy. But don't let that stop you, I'm not entirely sure I'd be able to go anyway. Actually, I might make it on the 10th, I don't know how this whole week-before-exams thing works (never having done it before), so...dunno. Whatever works best for you guys. Very Happy

Oh, and I'd be coming on one of those train thingies. Whatever they're called... er, actually, now that I look at it, I'm not entirely sure that it would bring me particularly close to this place. Meh, I'm sure that, if I end up going, someone will be able to suggest a better mode of transportation. Something to worry about later... Mr. Green

<commuter>If you take the Princeton Junction train (NE Corridor line) to Newark, you can hop on the PATH and get up to 33rd street, taking a subway from 34th street to wherever you want to go. Or you could take the line all the way up to Penn station in the city and then take the subway from there.</commuter>

As long as we're not as ugly as this one, we're doing all right.
