[INTERACTIONS] Lisa Graham

Quote:
To Lisa: Greetings, Lisa Graham. I am continually eager to speak to real Deus Citizens. We in 2007 have been placed in a state of great anxiety and foreboding from this Time Communication, as I hope you can imagine. Every window on the future, any hope we may have of finding some control over our lives, is welcome.

I would like very much to know about the Blue District. What sort of people live there? What sort of work goes on there? (Deus City seems highly segregated, compared to the messy free-for-all cities of my world.) Do you have freedoms in the Blue District that those of the Grey do not enjoy? What about the news feeds in the Blue District; how much of the reality of the world do you get to see?

Please pardon my curiosity. Many citizens of the future seem very lost. As for myself, all I want is to try to avoid the war that every-one says we can't avoid. Surely you understand; if you saw your future, would you want to change it? Feel free to reply at your leisure. I fully understand about time constraints, as I work late hours myself.

Quote:
Lisa says: Hello there, "VioletNightshade". Thanks for the welcome... it's a bit disorienting, talking to you guys in the past. Makes me wonder if I'm out there somewhere.

I'm not sure how classified everything is at the moment, until they officially let you agents see Blue for yourselves. What kind of freedoms do you think the people in Grey don't have? As far as I can tell, although it's a little dingy down there, they're hardly oppressed! I think the limited view the TIA gives you might make it seem that way, they're not the best PR people.

We tend to get our news from Red, just like everyone else. There's a little bit of business straight from Blue sometimes. The business feeds tend to be more of my "reality" than things like the gossip, but I just can't help myself sometimes. Did you see the story about Kropp and Caldwell? I never would have seen that coming!

I can understand your curiosity, though personally I don't thikn I'd want to know what happens in 30 years. Leave fate to do its work. For us here in Deus City, the war's already happened, we can't avoid it. I don't think you can either, it must be scary knowing it's coming.

Keep in touch!

So we're just posting up anything? I thought my convos were idle chatter, but, hey, if you really want to read 'em, I won't argue. Gives me something to post, I guess. This post will be a bit long since it's 3 replies.

Lisa says: Hello there, "Wavecrest". Thanks for the welcome... it's a bit disorienting, talking to you guys in the past. Makes me wonder if I'm out there somewhere.

I'm not sure how classified everything is at the moment, until they officially let you agents see Blue for yourselves. I guess I can say that I'm in a fairly high desk job here, taking up a lot of time I'd rather spend with Justin sometimes. Then they had to throw this on me too.

Keep in touch!

That was the first one, which I replied to (post is long enough w/out my responses. If you really want to know what I said, send me a message) and she responded:

Quote:
Lisa says: Thanks, Vicky. Sorry to be a pain, I just don't like all this network-name stuff, I like to know who I'm talking to. They say a name has a lot of meaning, and I pretty much think so too.

I think you'll want to speak to your handler, that Kropp guy, if you want to know if anyone's still about. Not sure he'll look it up for you, but I'm not the person to ask! Well, not yet anyway.

The education across the whole city's run by Educorp, from Yellow. They do a really good job, I think. My Justin's not the brightest spark, I'm afraid, but he's getting fairly good grades so they're doing him right. Just like crime, a lot of bad school behavior's been kept under control since they brought back corporal punishment.

Well, got to get back to work. I think I'll only be home in time to tuck Justin in tonight, there's always so much work on a Friday.

Keep in touch!

And, of course, I responded to that one too. Here's the third one:

Quote:
Lisa says: Sounds like you have a busy life, too. Thanks for the offer of help, but I don't think there's much you can do anyway. I've lived like this for some years now, I'm used to it. This time interface thing is just going to have to take a back seat for a while.

Oh, and keep trying with Kropp. I didn't get where I am without perseverance, and a little nagging. I find it works in all situations!

Keep in touch!

Um... so I guess Lex is in charge of education, huh? I wonder if he can get me a job Very Happy

Yes, but Lex is the NICE one. Razz

So I got another reply from Lisa--AND I'm on her trusted list! Wow! People DO trust me! I felt kinda bad after seeing that taurenfreak didn't, because that showed I was just an *evil* person Twisted Evil

Anyway, it was just idle chatter, like the other posts, so I see no point in putting it up. Unless anyone wants me to, which I doubt. But if anyone does, let me know.

Hey guys. Guess I'm finally back!

Ok, here we go.

Started talking with Lisa last night, the subject of my side of the conversation is not important. However, her response is important.

For now, this is OOG. don't approach her about this, as i'm supposed to be keeping it a secret.

Lisa wrote:

You're a curious one, aren't you? Lucky for you, I'm actually here to answer your questions. Don't tell anyone this, but I've actually been hired by the TIA to be the handler for blue-karma agents, lighten Bishop's workload a bit. I wish someone would lighten my workload a bit, instead of piling this on me.

I'll talk with you a bit more about Blue and family and everything later. I've got to dash off, yet another work emergency. These guys sometimes don't learn.

So there we go. She's a handler for Blue agents. Guess this means we're going to be seeing more Blue karma soon.

again, this is OOG. please, please, please don't approach her about this.

Or i'll KILL YOU.

...

well, maybe not kill...

good to be back.

Morelaak

EDIT: well, looks like some of you (notgordian) have already figured this one out. I feel stupid again, like when i started up with all of this. Razz.

Kill me? Oh nooo! Laughing
I hope not, since we mentioned the topic before you posted, morelaak. Sorry!

For the rest, once again, long post b/c it's two replies.

Quote:
Lisa says: If I knew any Wavecrests, I would have recognised the name straight away. I'm afraid I don't have any contact with you here, but then judging by your color I'd say you were in another district anyway.

Justin went to visit his father on his last "go to work with your parents" day. Kevin and I agreed to take it in turns to look after him on those occasions, so maybe next year he'll be able to help me with the photocopying or something. He would probably enjoy that, he's that kind of kid. I just wish there was the opportunity for him to move to a better district, I really do.

I'll come to you with any questions about 2007, okay? Actually, I have one already. I'm surprised this interface is up so early and running so smoothly. How did it even start up at your end?

Keep in touch!

And, of course, I replied. Here's her response to that:

Quote:
Lisa says: Well, I was thinking red just because of your karma, but it could go even further, perhaps you'll go all the way to yellow. I think you're a good sort, so long as you keep yourself in line you'll do well.

Thanks for the support with Justin, but I don't think the Senate would be convinced by the views of a single agent. There is a program to let kids into Red, but it takes a lot of credits and very good grades. I think we'll have to raid the college fund to get Justin into that, but we'll try.

Kevin and I aren't split at all, we just work in different buildings, and he sometimes has as much work as I do. I just meant that we're taking it in turns for the "go to work with your parents" days, not in general. The reason we work so hard is simply the low wage around here, you wouldn't believe. But we're really saving up for that relocation program, like I said.

Thanks for the explanation of the interface. It's still odd to me, but I'm sure I'll get used to it. And thanks for the support, you've really kept me going with this. It's nice to have someone to talk to.

Keep in touch!

So if anyone knows a way to help her kid, please tell me! Smile

What gets me is the fact that the wages are so low. Something just seems wrong with that picture, if it's so "good" and yet parents can't even spend time with their children because they're working so much.

Not had any interraction with Lisa myself - but there seems to be a strong suggestion in the latter of her two replies to you, that access to Red District will be a financial transaction as opposed to requiring a need for Karmic Shifts.

It seems this is the first time we've had actual confirmation, that Yellow is a Foo'ier version of Red too, although it was theorised quite some time ago.

So I actually am posting stuff that helps? Cool! I feel better now.
I'm sorry to keep posting, but if it helps somehow, someway, that's great! Anyway, here we go Smile

Quote:
Lisa says: Glad to hear that you've got ambition. I wouldn't be afraid of responsibility if I were you, it's usually quite laid back in Yellow, from what I hear. Certainly not the hard work you have to put in here in Blue and Grey.

Thanks for the offer to move Justin! If you get that sorted, I would truly love you forever. You know how much it means to me by now, for Justin to get a good education. I'd miss him if he had to go to boarding school, but it's quite a journey between here and Red. Perhaps when he's older he'll be able to go there on his own every day, but for now I think boarding school is best. It's a dangerous world out here in Blue sometimes, with these rumors of this Underground.

Don't worry about the split comment, I can understand that getting used to us can be difficult. And as always, thanks for the support.

Keep in touch!

We'll keep our fingers crossed that I can get him moved up! I like Lisa, and her kid reminds me a lot of my real life nephew from our interaction, so maybe that makes me try a bit harder to help him.

And dangerous, huh? In the utopia? Seems like trouble in paradise, huh? Wink

sorry wavecrest, but it looks like we are pitted against each other. Smile
OOG, but i'm gonna be trying to find a way to help as well, and i was raised to believe that a close-knit family is more important than boarding school. So i'm going to be trying to find a way to get credits transferred directly to her, in a blatant act of kindness, so that she may be able to not only put her son through school, but live with him as well.

Against me, morelaak? You wound me, good sir, you wound me.

Moving on, you guys might be interested in this (if you didn't know already). I had asked about the Open Information Act (if I didn't post about it, tell me), and here was the reply:

Quote:
Lisa says: Hi Vicky, sorry about the delay. I had to go ask DefenseCorp about your question, it turns out that the Act applies to you agents in a kind of limited way. Because of the way the laws work, they can't enforce it in your time but if you're caught hiding information then you'll be intercepted once the Senate comes to power.

Uh-oh... Embarassed

Earlier today had sent the following to Lisa:

Quote:
To Lisa: Hi Lisa,

I am sorry it has taken me so long to welcome you onto the interface, but guess you may not have noticed due to being so busy!

I know that you are not assigned to look after me at present, but as an agent that aspires to join you in the Blue District in the not too distant future, I felt it only polite to introduce myself early on.

I'm not sure what tasks and business you look after over in blue district, perhaps you could give me a heads up, so that when I do arrive I can hit the ground running, alternatively, if you need any assistance, perhaps I could lend a hand as my in tray seems to be currently empty and could do with something to get my teeth into.

Hope to hear from you soon,

Brum

A little while later, got the e-mail from Adam (see that thread for details), and had my Karma re-assigned and then not long after that, received this message back from her:

Quote:
Lisa says: Hello there, "Brum". Thanks for the welcome... it's a bit disorienting, talking to you guys in the past. Makes me wonder if I'm out there somewhere.

I don't know when you sent that message, but it looks like you're assigned to me now. You're doing a good job heading into Blue already. I'm not sure why you would want to be here, everybody here wants to move to Red. They say that's where the money is, where people have fun. More fun than in this office, at any rate.

Now that Blue's available to you agents, I can tell you about what we do here. The official description is that Blue is "the provider of all blue-collar industrial, commercial, construction, waste-management, maintainence, shipping and other similar tasks". In simple terms, the maintenance and factory jobs that don't go to Grey. Most of us work for one of the Metrocorp or Utilicorp departments.

I'm managing the metals manufacture section in Metrocorp. We make everything from signage to guard fences to water mains pipes. There's a lot to concentrate on in here, which is why I have to stay in late sometimes. I'm getting along fine, except for this one incident, but I've put that in the task queue.

If you have any trouble with any of your tasks, you should talk to me first now that you've been assigned blue karma. I've been given access to the appropriate resources, so I should be able to help.

Keep in touch!

To which I have replied:

Quote:
To Lisa:
Hi again Lisa,

I'm sorry for the confusion in the first part of my message, I have only just had my Karma re-assigned, so that is the reason that mistake happened.

I'm a little confused ... I cannot see any tasks or locations available in the Blue District, but am very willing to help out.

Is there something I need to do, to enable me to see this task, or has it not been released as of yet??

Hope to hear from you soon, and thanks for the welcome.

Brum

That's all for now, but for the record - there doesn't appear to be any tasks or locations listed so far (at least in Blue District), so it would not appear to be Karma colour that is hiding tasks or locations.

reassigned karma

a little bit off topic, but since it was mentioned in the above message, i thought i could ask it here.

How do you get your karma reassigned ? I completed all of grey and cannot do anything in white because I am green. I asked bishop about it, and he told me he doesn't know and probably I need to wait for the new tasks that are coming in the near future.
But I see a lot of reds in the interface and was wondering how I can change to red (should I change to red ?)

Greetings,
Wyzalf

Erm??? Not really sure - I think the change in mine was connected to the e-mail I received from Adam, (see the Info from Brackin thread for details), and nothing to do with my message "aspiring to join Blue District". Think I saw elsewhere, that someone messaged either Kropp or Foo detailing their distain for their Karma and asked to be reassigned and was successful, but cannot recall where I read this.

Anyhow, back on topic - I have received a reply from Lisa today, which reads:

Lisa wrote:
Lisa says: Hi "Brum". I've been told that some of the tasks in the queue should be uploaded today. Good luck solving them.

Keep in touch!

They're not up as of yet, but will post them when they appear.

Re: reassigned karma

Sent the following to Lisa, after watching the "Welcome to Blue District" video.

BrumGuy wrote:
To Lisa: Hi again Lisa,

I've just had a peep at the new video, welcoming the Blue District to the interface.

Are you able to explain to me, what the Modular Watchcare Units are, and what their function is?

Thanks in advance,

Brum

and her reply (which was very speedy) was:

Lisa wrote:
Lisa says: You haven't heard of MWUs? I guess not, since they weren't invented until 2021. Rosie's really campaigned for them for the last five or ten years, getting them made and installed. That must be why President Fujimoto mentioned them.

An MWU is an all in one security package for the home. It's made from all kinds of measures, like movement sensors and object detection. It's virtually impossible to break into a house and steal anything, or threaten the occupants, with one installed. And now that everybody has one, the household crime rate has dropped to practically nothing.

I hope that's enough of an explanation without going into too much detail.

Keep in touch!
