[UPDATE] [NEW SITE] Paul Denchfield

http://www.pauldenchfield.com/

Quick post for now, I'm going to edit the bejesus out of this post with quick summaries, links, and important quotes from the new blog. Please be patient with me, and mods, feel free to edit/delete whatever I produce. I feel like I don't know what I'm doing, but I also feel like I should try to contribute.

It should be noted that about 30 minutes ago Paul's "What am I doing" ticker just noted that he knows about subliminal messaging scheme and Perplex City now.

*Deep breath* Here we go:

------------EDIT 1-------------

I've been highlighting names and other key stuff as I go...

March 16 - me dot com
Paul's friend Dan sets up "PaulDenchfield.com" for him. Includes some earlier blog notes from Paul:

Feb 22 - Paul is working for a bank, and APITS
Feb 28 - Paul sets up vodcasts for R1 at the BBC
Mar 6 - Paul complains about the noise his neighbor's construction is causing.

March 19 - Gearing Up
Paul is packing for a work-related trip to film the "RBS" shoot. (Something to do with the bank he's working for.)

March 25 - BST
Paul likes the summer. The RBS shoot should get rolling soon. He can't wait for Easter because it's a bank holiday, and he will get a break. His sister Belinda is going to visit on Easter Holiday.

March 28 - The frozen north
Paul drives to Edinburgh. It's cold. Paul doesn't like cold. The Paul gets a call telling him the RBS shoot has been canceled and he needs to travel to Birmingham. Paul is annoyed. Paul must also head on over to Radio 1 to do a vodcast.

April 4 - No editing
Paul gets an XD camera (Awesome). Joe and Viva Gideon are supporting the Archie Bronson Outfit on tour around Europe. (LINK) Paul's girlfriend is leaving GB for Easter. (Holland I think...)

April 5 - YouTube - New tube
Paul's buddy Dan gets Paul situated with YouTube. I don't know what the hell this video is... Was Paul on a gameshow in the UK???

April 11 - YouTube - South Africans
Paul learns the beauty of YouTube and shows us some of his work. Blog includes 4 ads for South African Airways that Paul made.

April 12 - YouTube - Denied
Paul wants to put more videos up, but K9 Bootcamp won't let him. (He's a dog trainer ???) Anyhow, I don't know what this YouTube video is either. A clip from the Fox reality show where people strive to be a chef???

April 15 - Zzzz
Paul didn't get much sleep due to a boiler malfunction and his building. Paul and his neighbor decide to head over to Paul's girlfriend's place to get some shut-eye, but that big 'ol sun that Paul loves so much rose early, and Paul couldn't get any sleep. Tomorrow Paul gets to travel to another RBS shoot.

April 18 - Just venting
Paul shoots some RBS footage which includes some American Football. Paul has been nominated for an award for some work he did last year. Paul gets upset with a client of his.

April 19 - Wound up
(Finally, Paul's life has meaning to us.) Paul gets fired for something he didn't do in an R1 video. Paul angry! Paul smash!

April 20 - YouTube - Kicking off
Paul explains why he got fired in the video. He blames the BBC for inputting the words "FROZEN INDIGO ANGEL" into his work. Paul decides he is going to use the power of the internet to get to the bottom of this. Paul's buddy Dan gets an FIA website registered for Paul that redirects to his blog. Paul notices that FIA is popping up all over the place.

Flickr images: Scott Mills Vodcast - Hidden Words
Scott Mills Vodcast - Frozen Indigo Angel
Download Scott Mills Vodcast: HERE
Download Arctic Monkeys FIA: HERE
Paul asks for people to start looking for FIA, and to email him. His blog introduces the twitter - ticker.

April 22 - Sore fingers
Paul's plan is working.

FIA on BBC Radio 1 tracklist (I couldn't find it myself)
Unofficialmills FIA spot

However, people also proposed that FIA ties into street graffiti and that Paul is sending random, mysterious emails to people. They are also telling Paul that it is all a hoax, and that this is a horrible way for the BBC to advertise for R1 (haha).
Paul's girlfriend is upset that Paul is on the computer all day.

April 23 - YouTube - Text!
Paul gets a video from Alex showing FIA scrolling across his digital radio.
Paul submits a video of the R1 tracklist website showing FIA.
TV broadcast FIA
Paul, and AvonPaintball become paranoid: A US blue angels pilot died and headlines all over the internet read "Fallen Blue Angel". (Just a coincidence) Plus Paul watched Dr. Who on TV and a character was dressed as an angel, so Paul freaks out... Way to go Paul.

April 25 - YouTube - Ariel
BBCs inhouse magazine "Ariel" publishes an article about Paul: HERE
(So it all began from some mysterious hotmail account's email... oOo)
Paul gets a tip that at 3:15 'today' R1 will broadcast something about FIA. He then edits his blog to note that nothing happened.

April 27 - YouTube - Time for some answers - FIA on air
Paul finds some FIA content he accidentally recorded on his PC. Paul also received a tip that something would happen at noon on Friday on R1. At 12:05 FIA was heard in an Arctic Monkeys song: HERE (The clip is also uploaded on Paul's blog). Paul also includes the FIA footage he was about to delete. Paul asks that everyone meet him at the R1 building Monday at 6:00 pm. Paul has also set up a Facebook page HERE and an event page HERE (I am not signed up for Facebook, and I refuse to do so, so I have not seen these pages.) Paul also provides a link to his twitter HERE

April 29 - An email from the BBC and missing words
Paul posts an email from the dude that fired Paul:
Quote:
From: Hugh Garry
Subject: Leave it
Date: 26 April 2007 xxxxxx
To: Paul Denchfield

Hi Paul,
Just wanted to say how much I'm enjoying your stab at becoming an internet celebrity since you left Radio 1 and wondered if you had an approximate date for bringing the whole charade to a close. As I don't have any hard evidence that the security breach was down to you, and despite your efforts you don't have any evidence it came from within, why don't we bring this matter to a close right now. I'm getting bored having to answer to the press and colleagues and don't want to have to launch a full investigation, which could be very bad news for you.

Bring it to an end now and I'll gladly wish you luck with whatever reality TV show it is you are trying to promote with all this.

Hugh Garry
Creativity : Mobile
Radio 1 Interactive

Paul is pissed. Paul notes that FIA has been disappearing from locales as well (which explains why I couldn't find it on the tracklisting page.)

April 30 - Join the march
Paul reminds folks to storm R1 with him.

April 30 - YouTube - Big Stuff
Paul learns that the BBC has sent 150,000 emails with FIA in them ... Promoting the Big Weekend event. Paul promises to load more video quickly. Will Paul succeed? The suspense is killing me!

May 1 - YouTube - Into the lion's den
Paul meets some execs in front of the R1 building. He tries to get a hidden camera in, but it fails. Security shakes Paul up a bit, but Paul shakes back! Paul promises more video soon!

May 1 - YouTube - A package
Paul was having an unsuccessful day at R1, but on his way out the door a woman gives him a package addressed to him. Inside is a cell belonging to some big cheese at R1. Paul finds a mysterious text message on it! It says "Answer your phone - The executive".
Paul now has an informant on the inside of R1 named Jane (The chick who told Paul about the FIA broadcast at noon on Friday during the Arctic Monkey's song. Paul finds a voice message on the phone telling whomever that Paul needs to "Go away". Paul laughs in the face of danger. (Unaware that the third power wants his head.)

May 1 - YouTube - Returning the package
Paul is one crafty SOB; He takes the phone to a surveillance shop and has the cell bugged so that Jane can listen to calls/texts going through this phone. The surveillance boys also pull off some other bits of data from the phone. The blog has a recording of the voice message:
Quote:
Mr Khan (Caan?), you're not answering your calls. I sincerely hope that's because you're dealing with this press business. Can you make sure you deflect attention. I really don't care how, just make it go away or the deal's off. All right?

May 1 - New message
New phone message posted on the blog.
*Someone care to write a transcript?*
Mr. Khan is in TROUBLE (that's "trouble" in caps see?)

May 1 - Late night action!
Another phone message on the blog.
*Someone care to write a transcript?*
Mr. Khan is being pressured to do something Wednesday. Mr. Khan does not want to do this thing, but he needs money.

May 2 YouTube - Is it the Daleks?
Another broadcast of FIA. "higgypopuk" provides an incredible video! It occurred once again on the Scott Mills show during a Tom Novy song at 5:43pm.

May 3 - YouTube - Fact and theories
Paul comments on the recent FIA discovery. For some reason Paul's internet is down (Join the club Paul)... Something to do with his credit card (or maybe...) Paul also notes that he has been getting some emails about strange lyrics found in R1 emails. higgypopuk provides a video of some theory's of his own (and the emails people have been getting.) Paul has to use an internet cafe to work on his computer now.

May 3 - Another theory!
The words "Brooke Shields Alphabet" have been popping up now HERE. Paul also traces Mr. Khan back to a Dr. Who episode. Good 'ol paranoid Paul.

May 4 - YouTube - Rumbled
Jane loses her cool, and no longer will help Paul. Also another BBC employee has been fired for no apparent reason. Paul has received email stating that the Yahoo answers page for FIA has disappeared. Paul's buddy Dan is working on the files extracted from the phone. You can now text Paul at 07624 807820.

May 4 - Hidden BBC diagnostics page
Paul's buddy Dan recovers one deleted file from the phone. It leads HERE (oOo - subliminal). Paul's buddy Dan sets Paul up with a mailing list on the blog.

May 7 - YouTube - Wrecked
Paul's house has been broken into and trashed. Paul's things are smashed and his laptop hard-drive has been stolen. The culprit's left Paul a free FIA sticker, so it's cool. Dan has something useful that will be provided tomorrow.

May 8 - Watching the wallpaper
Dan provides THIS

May 8 - YouTube - New leads, new pages
Paul joins MySpace HERE (AvonPaintball cringes). Apparently a bunch of FIA YouTube videos have been popping up (I haven't seen any). Somebody named "Mike" has provided a lead. Paul has a beautiful desk behind him somehow...

May 8 - MySpace mash-up
Mike deciphers the wallpaper image and finds THIS. Paul, being the clever SOB that he his creates a MySpace page as "The Executive" and has a little IM chat with Mr. Khan:
Quote:
> TheExecutive: Mr Khan

> TheExecutive: ...

> shakakash: What are you doing on here?

> TheExecutive: Progress report, Mr Khan

> shakakash: Is this secure?

> TheExecutive: Stop wasting my time.

> shakakash: You don't need to keep harassing me. I'm on top of it.

> TheExecutive: Are you ready for the next broadcast?

> shakakash: It's all lined up.

> TheExecutive: And you know the precise time?

> shakakash: As precise as it ever is on Radio 1.

> TheExecutive: Your performance has barely been satisfactory so far. I want to know you have everything in place.

> shakakash: I do.

> TheExecutive: Reassure me, Mr Khan. The time?

> shakakash: 16:30.

> TheExecutive: And the day?

> TheExecutive: ...

> TheExecutive: Mr Khan?

> shakakash: Mr Denchfield?

shakakash has left the chat

Awesome!

May 9 - Links and connections
Paul wants to know who is going to Big Weekend. Paul also wishes to make FIA more popular so digg him up HERE Paul also mentions that FIA is one of the top 3 news items in the UK HERE Paul has found some more FIA MySpaces, but nothing much in that department.

May 10 - YouTube - Shake up
Another FIA on R1. Paul gets an email from Jane:
Quote:
Paul,

Prakash has left. He told everyone he was going on holiday, but he's not the sort of person to just drop work so suddenly.

He left me a note as well. I'll type it up here.

You know most of this already so I know you'll understand.

Today, there was supposed to be another transmission of the FIA trigger words. It didn't work perfectly. The man I've been working for is not tolerant of such technical difficulties. He threatened me and I believe he was serious. That is why I'm leaving now.

Don't feel bad about Luke. I always thought it was you. Firing him was my choice - he's young and smart enough to get over it, and I wanted to keep you around just in case.

I believe this man is capable of terrible things. I thought this scheme would harm no one, but now I'm afraid that people might get hurt. If you feel as I do, find out what you can, and go public with it. He seems to be scared of publicity.

I don't know what he looks like. I don't know his real name. I think he has some technical expertise because he has been influencing the station's broadcasts. He has said these broadcasts are 'primers' for a 'controlled environment test'. And he seemed angry about something in the latest vodcast but I haven't been able to see anything at first glance.

My flight leaves soon so I have to head for the airport.

Take care, ___. Sorry I didn't get to say goodbye properly.

Shaka

Looks like it's down to you and me now. Are you sure you still want to chase this?

JS

The executive was just too mean I guess. Paul tells us to check out the latest vodcast HERE

May 11 - YouTube - Spotted!
Folks email Paul about a green folder in the vodcast that has been spotted HERE
Paul is using Jane to break in and take a look!

May 12 - YouTube - I know where we're going
Paul finds the motherload! Thanks to Jane for letting him in. And thanks to the lack of security for letting in Paul. Paul finds the green folder quickly, and lots of FIA stickers, and hardware. He doesn't take the green folder (It's full of URLs). Too bad Paul's buddy Dan wasn't there. Looks like the Executive is on his way to Preston. Paul needs help getting there. (Who's got a ride for him?)

As you can no doubt see this is a very very rough outline. GasparLewis just posted a much better summary, but here are all the links for UF ^ I'm going to watch TV now...
Please contribute whatever you can, and feel free to criticize or whatever needs doing.

Hey hey! Just wondering if many other people have e-mailed him? I sent him an email explaining about the 3rd power and what sort of thing they are going to attempt to do... and about half an hour later I got a text (from twitter I think it was called) and he'd just updated with a short bit about the link to perplex city.

Also, the people who win the radio 1 tickets will be picking them up yes. So the people giving them the tickets I'd presume would be the 3rd power, so if anyone gets them to pick up in Liverpool if i know a time / place I can go down, have a nose around, take some pics or whatever? People picking up tickets may not notice things an onlooker would Smile

Hmm...you and me both KK Wink

Been away for the week and just catching up with this, but am I to understand that the Liverpool puzzle will be released http://www.silburngriggsmining.com/projectfia/ today for Liverpool? Nothing yet then.

It does say that tickets need to be picked up in person and this can be by a "trusted person" so if anyone needs one, I promise not to abscond with the tickets, that goes for Southport too, but Bolton and Preston are out, sorry. I'm more of a Radio 2/4 man anyway Wink

The puzzle is live now! I'm trying to solve it.

You may be already too late to answer it, but for future reference...

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
The different paragraphs are lyrics from songs. The missing words create a question that needs to be answered.

First one: The Smiths "Stop Me"
Missing word: Who

Second one: Lily Allen "LDN"
Missing word: Head

Third one: Coolio "Gangster's Paradise"
Missing word: Lined

Fourth one: Stereophonics "Local Boy In The Photograph"
Missing word: Last

Fifth one: The Beatles "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band"
Missing word: Years

Sixth one: Pink "Get This Party Started"
Missing word: Saturday

Seventh one: Alex Party "45"
Missing word: Main

Eighth one: Elvis Presley "Are You Lonesome Tonight?"
Missing word: Stage

A simple google search brings you back to the BBC, where if you look up last years Radio 1 Big Weekend and scroll all the way down to the two days, the first band on the "Main Stage" for Saturday was Snow Patrol.

Welcome to the forums csmicbcklsh Wink Don't forget to introduce yourself over here. Just for future reference, there's no need to duplicate the solve in the General/Updates section, most logical place for it is in the Puzzles section, people know to look over there for that sort of stuff and it cuts down on clutter.

Cheers

The third one seemed somewhat familiar but I couldn't put my finger on it. I was also thinking of mostly Brit bands so I kept thinking of Kaiser Chiefs and Kasabian and all (Sixth answer)....I'm going to try to get to the UK within the next year or so...maybe for the ARG...

More email fun, now from the bbc themselves. Its mainly an email about the coverage, but the last two lines are annoying.

Find BBC Radio 1 on Myspace here

seems like radio1 are being less than conspicuous about it now.
