[META] Closer look at the map and the site locations
...anyone know where this is taking us?

[[[Some of this may seem spoilerish, but I doubt it. I'll let the Mod make that call.]]]

So I made a map pieced painstakingly together from the map used in the iceberg puzzle and turns out (gee whiz) that its the same map used in the animations between the destinations. This trip is headed East towards the end of the (world?) map at Oceanus Chinesus.

Judging by the random nature of the puzzles, extrapolated data from the different location sites, the varying coordinates and language differences not to mention time zones and cues from the movie clips from the trailer I have come to the empirical, scientific fact that I have no idea where this is headed.

But heres what I noticed:

-So far the first five sites have stayed outside the boundries (two above and three below) of the "Tropicus Canceri" and the "Tropicus Capricorni" as named on the map.

-The last five all within those boundries- four of which between "Tropicus Canceri" and "Circulus AEquinoctalis" (equator) with the last site falling just below the equator.

-The first five sites are in the "Mare Atlanticus".

-The last five sites are in the "Oceanus Orientalis".

And I gotta be honest, while looking at the map trying to find interesting bits of detail nothing stands out as important or overly noteworthy. Is anyone finding the details so far of this hunt more meaningful or am I just missing it?

Heres my map- I cant win anyway because I work for volvo so if this helps the winner I just want a t-shirt that says "I helped somebody win the Volvo PoTC Hunt and all I got was this lousy t-shirt."

Not spoilerish and a good summary/analysis if you ask me. I did change your topic title and added a tag, because that makes it a lot easier for people to identify what your topic is about.

For Worlds End, Find the White Spot

Well, if you scratch each of our locations to date, you find that the underlying colour is getting darker....

Is teh last line of the clue used in finding the coords to location4 or is it to be used to find World's End?

Scratching the Map in Port Royal

That is a whole lot of scratching. To get the whole map scratched, now that would take a long while. I scratched out the symbol at the bottom at o° and that took me awhile. Nothing there by the way! Need a scraper for that project, or a lot of help, like a grid line down wouldn't be to bad. That would only take 34 people to do.

there is no real point, well not unless you have nothing to do.

I disected the flash, and barring the icebergs, there did not appear to be anything else on the map.

At least not yet

Who knows maybe we'll revisit this place at a later date. I just don't think there's anything there right now.

Known locations

Nice map, gridwerk. I'd like one of those shirts! Probably all I'd get--I used to think I was good at puzzles until this (and the original) contest...

Anyway, I'd heard some mention of knowing the future destinations...I don't have that list, but I guess it would help narrow down the possibilities of the answer. The Volvo points page has a couple left: the next one--South of Java--for puzzle #13, and Indian Ocean for puzzle #17 which opens on 23 May.

Don't know if this helps, but maybe it gives a clue to the final spot.
