Shocked Now that opens all sorts of possibilities for those lucky(?!) enough to get tickets from V. I think I'm rather relieved I'm not going to be one of them

Nice thought!
Since those with V tickets are supposed to be 'helping' Cyrus, reckon they'll get back stage or something?

Having looked at the line-up, I really wish I was going! Sad

I don't know, but I did wonder something allong those lines, would definitely be a 'novel' way of giving away back stage tickets Wink I could be talking a load of rubbish really but I just thought I'd point it out.

Well I'm off to meet some of the others, I'll be in a black shirt, poorly shaven and wearing jeans for web cam viewers. I'm too old for this.

Yes, good luck to everyone going tonight! Smile

I'm interested to know if the tickets being given out are for Saturday, Sunday, or both? If they're one day only tickets it'll narrow down when this 'event' is going to happen...

*is curious*

Right, thanks. I thought I'd read something specific somewhere, but couldn't remember where. Smile

So to report on last night.

I met kksweety and cpawley at Liverpool Lime Street and we wandered down to Mathew Street (home of the Cavern Club and Beatles central - which explained the code words that we were given - all John Lennon lyrics). There we identified the webcams and got beer (I wasn't ID'd so I apparently don't look 21 anymore. The reason given was my facial hair, so it's coming off tomorrow) and plonked ourselves down outside to wait.

A little while later a suspicious character turned up wearing dark glasses, but it turned out to be jojojojo, together with Paul and someone who's name I've forgoteen (sorry Sad ) but he too had travelled 200 miles to be there - ARG dedication. The six of us sat down to wait some more, periodically indulging jo by waving to people on the webcam Wink

A lady from Preston with two (initially slightly embarassed) kids arrived from the Scott Mills forum - hello the other side - and joined us.

Next we were approached by a street poet who offered to write us a poem on any subject and I suggested Clandestine Meetings.

A Cheshunt - Clandestine Meetings - 15/5/07 wrote:

Chance or fate we couldn't wait
Time yours and mine
Are we a clan or a group?
Meeting greeting
Opportunity possibility
Ours the luxury of liberty
To be free, to get together
Endeavour
To keep 'em guessing
How clandestine -
Your meeting!

I quite like the tact he employed by using "clan" rather than "cult". We had a whip round and gathered enough to deserve a second poem. This time he asked what we did - "Student, Student, Student, Student, Teacher, Researcher", "which means Student" cpawley wittily added.

And that resulted in a second poem:

untitled poem 2 wrote:

Research. Alls in reach.
From life - experience - can't teach
Enquire - Aspire
To feel and see
Follow integrity
No path but an avenue
Just to be true.
Passion beyond reason
The answer right under the nose
If one seeks eventually one knows

Both quite apt really Smile

I digress; shortly after this a bloke with a cap and a manila envelope (looked a bit cool and BBC) talking on his mobile hung around on the corner trying to locate the webcams. We suspected that he might be our contact. He didn't look conspicuous in any way. At all.

At seven (after peeping round the corner to see whether we were still there and losing a little bit of the aforementioned cool - "yoohoo!") He took up position opposite Hardy's and we took it in turns to approach him and whisper our code phrases. He presented each of us with an envelope and asked us to (and I think I'm paraphrasing as it's left my head completely) something like "be ready for them to rely on us at the weekend"? "sit in readiness of the approaching apocalypse"? - you get my drift. And then we were supposed to move away rather than linger.

We may have lingered a bit.

When we went, we walked past him and up Mathew street towards the Cavern Club; the contact was on his mobile again. As we continued up the street we noticed another guy in a black beanie talking on a mobile and desperately trying to look inconspicuous. I'm sure I recognised him, but can't place hime at all. We reckon that was the back-up in case we decided to get nasty and put the contact in a sack. Not that V would have paid the ransom anyway, but there you go.

The other guys went to the cavern for a drink and I headed home to pizza cos my girlfriend already thinks I'm an insane cult acolyte and sometimes you have to be tactful. Smile Sorry I didn't get many photos - phone ran out of juice and no charger (so much for technology).

[Edit] 19:05:57 on the video (59 seconds in) is me getting my ticket. http://tinyurl.com/29zc6d . I have poor posture.

Guy in the beanie is called Sean. Here is his video. Notice he never goes to actually speak to contact.
