[META] Dreams

Okay I wanted to start this META thread because obviously whatever we're doing with BA's dreamworld isn't working and it is making us frustrated, and now increasingly it is making BA frustrated as well.

Here's my take:

Sending in real dreams isn't working. Yes, clearly we can send in our dreams, and details from those dreams will invariably show up in the CLs, but from the most recent messages, it is clear that BA is having to contort her dream world to retrofit these details in ("A hotel? Where did that come from?"). This obviously isn't leading anywhere. I certainly don't get the feeling that we are learning anything new about the angel or the cemetery or the tower or anything that seems gameplot-related.

Sending in fake dreams, then, is the only option. And these fake dreams, I think, have to take place within BAs already-existing dreamworld. She apparently needs us to guide her and direct her and tell her what to interact with. Things along the line of: "I'm dreaming and I see a rope and you are there and you pick the rope up and tie it around the angel. Only it's not a rope it's a purple ribbon."

Now, I don't know if we should all be sending in related dreams about the same thing, or if we can each send in different things and then BA can pick and choose what she works with. I *do* know that being able to respond directly to the CLs via email really opens this up in a way that, quite frankly, calling them in via the phone number just was never going to allow. Discuss.

Finally, a note to the PMs:
If you know the behavioral conditioning literature at all, you may know that there's a very powerful technique called shaping, which refers to reinforcing behavior through successive approximations toward an eventual goal. See: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reinforcing_successive_approximations

If you want us to respond appropriately to these dreams, it would help greatly to shape our behavior by making it CLEAR when we have done something that is on the right path toward the desired outcome. Right now it seems, from my perspective, that the causal relationship between the dream content and the craigslist is completely arbitrary. When we've tried to do things that are more directive, BA comes back with vague and incomplete generalities. That's not going to work much longer. We are willing to work on this, but we need some indication of progress toward a goal.

I agree. However I tried that. I called her with a dream directly about the Angel and where it was etc, but as yet got no direct response.
Im a little confused as to what we need to talk to her about =\
