Stephen King/Dark Tower ARG?

I have not been able to get to the sites, but found the following post on alt.books.stephen-king:

Funny. Check out the name of their new CEO: Richard Fowler. Formerly, he was the Director of Holdman and Breakers Ltd. Ha ha.

I hope they keep working on the site.

Any guesses on names/passwords for the restricted access portion of the
site?

Sombra Corp is the name of the front for Enrico Balazar and his men, who are trying to buy the vacant lot in Manhattan where the rose is located.

Richard Fowler is another name for Randall Flagg, who is the Walkin' Dude, the Ageless Stranger, and also Walter/Marten from the Dark Tower books and The Stand. Bad, bad man.

There's also a link to http://www.lamerkindustries.com/ from the Sombra page. LaMerk is mentioned in the Dark Tower books as a manufacturer of robots.

If this pans out, it would be very, very cool indeed. Whois info can be found here. There's a phone number listed - 615-429-5938, which is a Nashville number. I'd call it, but holy heck, it's Flagg! Shocked

Well looking at that whosis and the name of Ronald Flannigan jumps way out at me. For those of you who do not know this but Randall Flagg, the walkin dude in almost all of his incarnations he takes the intitials RF.
Something is going ON woot woot woot!!!!!!!

as an aside one of the things that caught my eye was the name Clausdia Y Inez Bachman in the Wolves of Calla who it turns out was the wife of Richard Bachman, Stephen Kings pen name.

This looks like it may be big. People are getting phone calls, emails, instant messages, etc. I set up a channel on irc.chat-solutions.org called #darktower for discussion, and I'll probably post links to the Dark Tower message board and the newsgroup so they can come chat.

Major spoilage, to get us up to speed with http://thedarktower.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=2639

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
http://sombracorp.com/hdsfahuwuia.php - this is what you get after entering andy/1999

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Entering "information" and then clicking the top of the tower gets you to an email/confermation page. http://sombracorp.com/xkk38z8aaw983ifnsk3usdf87y.php

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Enter 19 in the right hand box, and an email in the left hand one

Copy of the email you are 'supposed' to get. Doesn't appear working:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Subject: Instructions

The Sombra Corporation thanks you for your fast response. However, what
we really want can only be seen in a mirror.

--AS

Phase two:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Returning to the Well come page, http://sombracorp.com/hdsfahuwuia.php , and entering "noitamrofni", information backwards, gives you a series of numbers:

+199395869082139785
8696139398909313797
8808810078958196137
8898913967899821391
869182

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Clicking the top of the building again gets you to http://sombracorp.com/pump.php

Numbers decoded, from http://thedarktower.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=2639 (unverified):

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Remove the first "19". Add 19 to each 2 digit digit numbers that follows except "100". Ex... 93 + 19 = 112 and so on. Finaly do a ASCII conversion.

Gives:

"prime this pump backwards all save nine"

Prime.php solution, once again stolen from above.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Hit the following numbers in order: 83 73 71 67 61 53 47 43 41 37 31 23 17 13 11 7 5 3 2 1

It gives:

The end is near.
Start at the beginning.
Stand and be true.

EDIT: Meaningfull cookie entries:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
info=1
ender=1

I put this in a spoiler, read only if you want to....take with a few grains of salt.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
I chatted with a fellow last nite and his name is Tyler mod of Dark Tower forum.. and he said that there were only three peeps that knew what was going on with this "game" and that it wasnt really an ARG. I tried to ask him if it was like the AI promotion and he ignored my question. he didnt know what an ARG was. Pretty sure this is fan-based. Prolly wont last very long either. but that is just an opinion......
[/spoiler]

***EDITED I THINK I MAY BE WRONG LAZLO HAS AN UPDATE VERY VERY KEWL*****

There are 2 more books in the Dark Tower series, and both have been written. Book 6, Song of Susannah, will be released in August 2004, and book 7, The Dark Tower, will be released in November 2004. So after a 23 year wait, we will find out what happens to Roland's ka-tet within 12 months.

Only problem is, then it's over! Confused

Well, with the ending of Project Mu and Acheron being too far into progression for me to keep up, i hope this is something i'm able to get into in the beginning. Fan based or not. Project MU was fan based, and it was amazing.
I have not read any of the Dark Towers series. I'm more of a Clive Barker fan. =) But i'm still very interested in seeing how this develops.

Hrm. Well, it's not an ARG. =) It was kinda fun while it lasted, though. If anyone wants to track the progress that was made and how it all came to be solved, i srongly urge you to check out the (currently) 56 pages worth of messages regarding Sombracorp.

Naaaah. That can't be the end... I was hoping some fan saw my thread back in the fall when I said "I want a Dark Tower ARG" and thought "hmmm, interesting." Maybe the metacortex people. After that game is done, are they doing something else?

Anyway, I have a question unrelated to this possible ARG. This could possibly be a spoiler for those who haven't read Book V yet, so don't keep reading if you don't want it spoiled.

At the very end of "Wolves" hard back edition, after Roland says "yes" it says:

Bangor, Maine
December 15, 2002

Is that a misprint? Because this also appears after Stephen Kings Author's Note when he talks about donations to help Frank Muller recover.

So is this a misprint in the hard back edition or just one of the mind f*cking twists like the light sabers and Harry Potter sneetches and 'Salem's Lot novel?

SK does this for all his books - puts the date of completion (sometimes he has the dates of writing) and the place written at the very end. Consider it out-of-plot material. Wink
