[PUZZLE?] Admin Login
Puzzle or slipup?

Uh, well... I was checking out the WWO site and up in the upper-left-hand corner, I see a red link titled 'Admin.' Curious, I click on it.

This window opens up:

http://worldwithoutoil.org/login.aspx?ReturnUrl=%2fadmin%2fDefault.aspx

Hm, a login form.

I tried my WWO username and password. Nope, didn't work.

Then, I went back to the WWO mainpage to do some more investigating, and the link had disappeared.

Is this just a PM slipup? Or are we supposed to be logging into the WWO site as admin?

I wouldn't be surprised if it's a puzzle. Something that interests me is that if you look at YuckyMuck's LG page it says "Mole Hunt: Pay attention". And a couple times in the IRC chat Yucky has mentioned how someone or someones is trying to bring down the site.

Also, something that got my attention was this comment on my LJ by Inky_jewel: "hey i know a great website for that a lady in my nhood runs it. she has been collecting recipes for years for her CSA. the receipes ar eall about the CSA vegetables. she is a great cook too. here it is http://www.writerguy.com/deb/recipes/"

Now, writerguy is the writer of this ARG and if you go to www.writerguy.com you see a very niiice looking site, nothing like the old 90's style of the "Deb Recipe" site...why would this site be on his server, even if it was like he's wifes or something you'd think he'd redo it to look nicer. Also, the counter on the page is broken, "Deb" says something like "wow, I this counter is off, I can't imagine that many people have been to my site"...but if you refresh, reload, or close the browser and come back the number never changes, perhaps this could be part of the password?

Then again, maybe we're just so used to puzzles on an ARG that we're looking for anything...but I think there is more, to many hints about the site going down, mypathy hacking the site, and so forth for it not to add up to something.

*Oh, here's the link to Inky's comment on my blog: http://fallingintosin.livejournal.com/6392.html?thread=8952#t8952

UPDATE:

When I try logging in as my user name "Fallingintosin" it does nothing, just refreshed to the empty boxes.

BUT! when I try to log in as "keyingredient" (and I used the counter number as the password), it didn't let me in, but it did say "Your login attempt was not successful. Please try again." And it's interesting that the title of the page is "KEY" ingredient.

Again maybe grasping at straws, but worth looking into, imo.

This is the login Team 8TSOC uses to do boring site management. Nothing worth puzzling over.

I think there are underlying stories or posts that they want us to pick up on. I don't know if there's a whole lot of code breaking involved in this game. I like the idea that we're all controlling the outcome of this game. It's making me into a better writer (which I'd rather do as a job than what I do at GM)

There's an underlying narrative structure (The 8TSOC/Nico) providing a baseline foundation - the rest of this (for better or worse) is being player driven.

The downside to all the player-driven content is the fact that I'm not as involved with the game as I'd like, because I don't have time to make my content (everytime I sit down to do it, I realize that I need to read my Spanish novel, or something like that). *sigh*
