These PMs have entirely too much Fun with Audio!!

The very first phrase sounds like "Go to" to me. The second set sounds like it begins with "seek." I turned my speaker tone knob all the way to treble and it was a little better.

I'm completely useless with audio, but I played around with Audacity a bit, and I'm pretty sure the third phrase is "wrong person".

I suck with audio (one too many rock concerts) but I think the third one is "but not the person" God i don't know! LOL maybe if we could get rid of the bass

There's something in the background with the piano, but I don't have any audio software! Bang Head

Maybe the piano song itself means something too? I'll try hunting down which song it is.

Preliminary Analysis

I may have made a transcription error, so someone might want to check this--but I transfered the song into notes. I double checked this, but a triple-check would be appreciated.

Pre-song analysis: the notes are divided into pairs (except for two cases). The notes include C,E,G, the CE chord, and the EG chord.

Quote:
C/EG E/EG CE/EG EG/E EG/E C/EG E/EG C/EG EG/EG E/CE EG
CE EG/E EG/EG EG/G EG/G EG/E CE/EG E/CE G/G EG/E EG/G

The following note pairs occur (numbers are up so I can test a theory that this is telephone related--that seems to always be my pet theory)
0 CE alone-1 time
1 EG alone-1 time
2 C/EG---3 times
3 E/CE---2 times
4 E/EG--- 2 times
5 G/G----1 time
6 CE/EG--3 times
7 EG/E---5 times
8 EG/G---3 times
9 EG/EG--2 times

That gives us 10 different permutations of note pairs. E and G only occur once each. As always when I see a set of ten different things with two of them relatively unused, I thought telephone cipher. Haven't had much luck with it, though.

Switched into numbers (using the aforementioned order) we'd have

Still unsure...

Okay, worked on the speech part a bit. I got some audio software Very Happy

I can't quite make out all of it, so this is still tentative stuff. But here's what I think it says:

"Good job."
Then I can't make it out.
"I'm not the person."

Silence for a few seconds, then:
"Speak as I speak, do as I do."

Feel free to correct me as needed, since it's still in the works.

Not sure about the top number but the bottom one should definitely be a UK mobile phone number (all UK mobiles/cells start with 07... and are 11 numbers long).

I don't think I can call it myself because in-game I have no idea about any of this. But given that Will Forth is UK-based it could well be his number if anyone else would like to give it a try.

Echidna, you should be able to use it IG. Will posted the fact that he'd be on Skype. It was on one of the news forums. Here's the link. http://www.deuscity.com/forum.php?request=show_thread&thread_id=142

Hope that helps.

As for my thing earlier, I don't know if he's saying, "Lucky" or "Good." And I was so sure earlier! Bang Head

I blame Will if I get a concussion Smile

As for the "numbers", those two lines are both part of the same text...I added a line break because the single tones (CE and EG) were in the exact middle of the message.

There are also other ways to establish the tone/number links, so what you see might not be right. (I was trying telephone texting routes which is why I set the standalone tones as 0 and 1)

I'd be willing to try dialling the number as it does fit the UK standard for a mobile telephone, and due to getting the call, despite messing it up, I would be expected to have heard the message.

That said, would like confirmation that a load of people have not already tried it, as I do not really want a visit from the police, due to harrassing phone calls.

Also, as I'm not at all musical, how was each note/set of notes converted into the corresponding number??

Was it an ascending/descending scale?? What's the theory in respect of the first half of the code too? As this may be key to what needs to be said, although if it is a mobile telephone number, I suspect it would goto voicemail to give another audio message, or perhaps the first part is an encoded password to gain access to stored messages on the voicemail??

Sorry to ask so many questions, but if I am going to call it, I'd prefer to be prepared.

Brum

The numbers were assigned semi-systematically, but there are other permutations one can use. I assigned them based on the following system (and the real important information is, as BrumGuy suggested, the note/chord pairings in the message).

The order was done in ascending order. First, the two chordal pairs that were alone. Then, note pairs where the first note was a single note. Finally, note pairs where the first note was a chord.

If the answer is indeed a phone number (and I don't believe it is), I do not understand why we have a string of 22 numbers instead of 11. I converted the pairings into numbers to make further analysis easier (as a find/replace on numbers is easier than note pairings).

the first set of numbers could be another number in another country. Could be another contact. I think nearly all numbers outside of the US follow the 11 digit format.

It's a valid number alright, but no one answered it. I will try again later.

AgentLex just sent me a recording of the music part along with the following message.

Quote:
Hey Gordian,

Did you hear the message Will sent out the other night? I managed to get
a good recording of the last bit, with the music. I'm not entirely sure
what to make of it, you have a go. I guess you'll have to listen to it
pretty carefully.

Since this was unsolicited by me, I'm not sure of what to make of the email--in his followup email, he indicated I made a mistake (that there's at least one full CEG chord in there). Well darn.

Here's the file. Can somebody else fill in the CEG chords from my transcription? I'm fairly sure it's just identifying which CE or EG chords were actually full CEG chords, but my ear is shot.
