OK, I re-did the transcript trying to catch all the CEG chords, and this is what I got.

Quote:
C/CEG E/EG CE/EG EG/E EG/E C/CEG E/EG C/CEG EG/EG E/CE EG
CEG EG/E EG/EG EG/G CEG/G EG/E CE/EG E/CE G/G EG/E EG/G

I need to emphasize, my ear is bad. PLEASE, someone check that I didn't make any mistakes here.

By my count, there are now 11 different permutations of note pairs, so I am officially clueless on how to proceed unless I made a mistake--it seems too little for an alphabetic cipher and too much for a numeric one.

Agent Lex sent a hint. I think the PMs kinda want this solved quickly or something.

Well if there's not enough "characters" to figure it out by standard methods, there has to be some kind of logic to it. I can't imagine that Will would give us something we couldn't solve.

I had an idea, but I am a bit stuck on it.....

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
If you write the notes down like real notes you get a pattern of notes. That instantly made me think of 'braille' (Don't know what the english name is, but that code for blind people).

Then I tried to decypher it and the result is : 0TH07ILHGFPHTJCHF

And then I am stuck. I tried ROT but I don't know many other methods.
Maybe someone else have some idea's ?

Notgordian mentions 11 different permutations; did you try ROT using 11 in some way? I don't really know ROT so I don't know if it's possible.

Yes I tried all ROT's.

There is a section on this board with online tools. They can help decipher code's. all 26 ROT's are also in there somewhere. I tried them all, but It doesn't translate the numbers, and the characters don't make sense to me.

Its probably not going to be ROT just because of the numbers.
Wyzalf do you think you could put up the notes that you translated into braille? I'd be interested to see it before its converted into letters and numbers.

The way that you explained the notes reminds me a little of the 'wood and cloth' puzzle. I'd like to try some of the same methods on this.

I saved the morse-d message into a poorly painted JPEG to show what wyzalf is talking about--this is one of those things that even if it's the wrong answer (and it seems to fit with the information we were given) it's incredibly cool.

Attach'd.

WARNING--as I've said many times, my ear sucks...PLEASE somebody check my work, as I keep catching mistakes in it--in my most recent transcript, I believe I left off a letter entirely (I edited that transcript to "fix" the mistake and made the adjustment in this braille file), and the first time through I didn't even catch the CEG chords.

As proof positive, I accidentally named this file "morsemusic" instead of "braillemusic". It's early...mistakes happen.

Then we have:

# j t h h # j # g . b l h g f p h t . c f
or
# 0 8 8 # 0 # 7 . 2 8 7 6 8 . 6

That gets me thinking we're on the right track and my ear just sucks, actually--what we're looking at now towards the end resembles something something blogspot.com (there are three characters after the last period)

I was thinking the same thing except thast I noticed the ".cf" That's the extension used in Cold Fusion which is used to create web pages. I only know this because we use it where I work and I've been struggling to learn it.

Recheck your transcription: I see three symbols following the braille for "period" at the end of the braille--at least based upon my really ugly picture. And it's within the bounds of reasonability to imagine I made the one-note mistakes that would transform that into "com".

As an aside, with slight adjustments this could be 0too07.blogspot.com -- sadly, I've been told this site doesn't exist.

That's what I thought I was getting when I did the transcription. I was kind of surprised it wasn't .com so I agree with you.

Where are all our music people when we need them, eh? Confused

It's also reasonable to assume it is a phone number; isn't 088 a European phone code of some kind?

I just took a shot in the dark after notgordian mentioned "something something blogspot.com" and I found this. Is it new? Only one post more than two months old.

Pretty simple, but I still don't know the why.

Edit: Wow I just noticed 2003, that can't be it Embarassed

It seems like we have some transcription errors in the notes. At the moment I am at work, but when I am home again I will try to correct the errors in the tone-transcriptions. The last 4 could be .com If that is true I try to redo all the notes (if somebody isn't faster then me).

As for the braille, I understand that the # sign indicates that a number is following instead of a letter. So I left out the # signs in my transcription and only put down the numbers.

As if by magic, the shopkeeper appears...

The quote "As if by magic, the shopkeeper appears" is apparently from the television show Mr. Benn in the UK. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mr_Benn

I don't know if that helps or hurts the case for it. I'm also not sure how easy it is to fake timestamps/registration dates on blogspot.
