[EVENT] Radio 1 ONe Big Weekend - Preston, UK 19/05/2007
Co-ordination and reporting thread

Some plans for tomorrow:

I'm getting into Preston at 10:56 on the train - Jojojojo and some of the tribe with her are in a bit earlier at 10:30 ish. As things kick off at 12:00 then probably meeting at the special entrance for competition winners before then is the best bet.

If you want a mobile number in case you lose everyone PM me. If I get lost then...erm...bring a thermos and we'll have a picnic in a random Preston field. It'll be just as nice. We can make haiku.

I'll try photoblogging and have just signed up to twitter for those not going - see blog http://liberperplexus.blogspot.com/ .

And if we can we'll update here - or do so by proxy - I've not seen anything about whether there's web access in the field.

Mmmm Im thinking we might need to be really sharp tomorrrow. Just an incling. As many people at home behind a screen will be helpful.

C.x.

EDIT: ONE item of coordination could be to "Tag" each of the symbols so we know they've been snapped. Me and sweety plan to use a Plane White Stickey Label. Perhaps we could use this site wide?

C.x.

Back from Saturday - no use today as in work, but thought would mention some stuff that went on.

Firstly - I reckon Twitter is brilliant for things like this -they were the best updates we got. I'm now a convert Very Happy Silently_broken having IRC-ability on her phone was also wonderful. She was the only person who could get us a copy of the map. We had to physically sketch it in order to have it on us when her battery was going and if we wanted to split up and cover more ground. Not so good.

Also we needed more contact with the outside world, as far as I could tell there was me and Mima and SB and the guys in IRC. In future we need to get ourselves more organised (but ain't that always the way? Wink ).

The first thing that we noticed was that most of the MMS's weren't getting through. Few people could e-mail from their phones (I think this might be a UK problem - Cruel 2 B Kind works fine in the US - but you got to do it without the phones over here) so it made updating pieces that bit more difficult.

We should have checked all the portaloos for posters first - when exhaustion was setting in poor Izzy queued for several days only to find one in her loo. There was no way we were queuing to find more! The same went for the ones in the main tents. The new music stage was OK as it was smaller and completely empited, but the main stage was a nightmare once things got going. We just couldn't get in there. Should have done it earlier.

And as is the case with adrenalin fuelled, bit between the teeth, hardcore live eventers - we didn't know when to stop! Once we had the map and the triangles (brilliant work guys Wink ) we spent ages trying to find things that looked like transmitters getting very frustrated and a bit tired (Mindez said he walked further than in his entire life). Despite the fact they weren't there. Prior to the triangles we spent ages working out that lighting rigs were in fact lighting rigs - which I suppose at least gave us map-reading practise.

good fun though. And LCD Soundsystem were excellent. And The Gossip were stupendous. And my feet hurt.
