No, wrong idea.

EDIT: By the way, I can confirm that the site that rwaph listed contains the piece of information I was refering to, but not necessarily in the place you'd think it would be...

A post can only be deleted if no other posts have been made after it in the thread.

And only when it was made while logged in as a registered user. Registering allows deletion of posts as well as editing. Posts can be edited by the poster at any time and only report the time of the edit if there are subsequent posts in the thread. You can also send a Private Message to other registered users.
