I'm lazy, so I'm not logged in. What if you ask that guy to change the vines that are blocking that door (Also called 'Plants') into 'Pants'
Pants are much easier to move. ^_^

I just received some responses from the Manse Master, not regarding moving around but I'm trying to press him for info.
My response to the whole 'listen and make others talk bit':
Quote:
I'm listening and making others talk. Someone has just found the flaming room. Another has found two shiny gold coins with the number ten on them. Are you related to the man wearing the square red hat? What were you using the dogs for?
Their response:
Quote:
It appears you are making an assumption that is not true. Can you spot what it is?
- Manse Master
My response:
Quote:
I'm assuming that you'll answer some questions.
I'm waiting for more....interesting.

I don't know how persnickity the PM(s) is(are) but we don't know the room is on fire - we just know the door to the room is on fire.

Did I read that wrong...*rereads* Yep.
I'm still waiting for another response...But if I don't receive one I'll try using this answer.
Edit: He just sent me a cryptic response...So I'm sending him the flaming room answer.

Yes, but that is not the one that is wrong. Not necessarily.

Maybe your presumption is that the house is his, and all the things inside it are his. It is most likely the one about the door being on fire, and not the rest of the room though.

You move through the door to the south-west.
As soon as you enter the room, you are overcome with noise. As it overtakes you, you crouch down immediately and cover your ears while shutting your eyes to try to shut out all the noise. When you finally open them, you see the source of all the noise - there are dozens of puppies running around barking at the top of their lungs. It appears that you have walked into a kennel of sorts. The puppies look of a similar breed, varying only in colour (you can spot some black, yellow, and brown coloured ones). You wonder why somebody would need so many of the same breed dogs.
The dogs seem friendly, and come up and rub their little necks against your ankle. You are overcome with their cuteness. One little puppy in particular seems very attached to you. He has an odd dog tag with writing and something gold hanging off of it.
Your move.

I take a moment to enjoy the cuteness, and then I kneel down and take a look at the dog tag. I want to see what the writing on it says. After that I'd check out the gold thing hanging from the tag.

I can't seem to get the little dog to follow me. Sigh.
I wanted to call him 'Pip'.

There was something about saying the type of dog earlier I believe. I don't have time to glance back...
I think they're a:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
labrador
This is due to the span of colours and the fact that they tend to use the breed in experiments and as guide/rescue dogs due to their intelligence.

He's following me now, though I'm not sure what I did to get him to do so.
Oh, and for reference, the northwest door of that corridor leads back into the greenhouse/garden.

Another reply....

I cannot deny that that is an assumption that you have made, and I cannot confirm whether it is true or not, but I can confirm that it is not what I was referring to.

Hmm so the assumption wasn't that the flaming room was flaming...Hmm maybe I'll ask about the dogs or reread the posts again.

I think the assumption is that he uses the dogs, and that the mansion is his own. He may just be a kind of maze keeper kind of guy, the maze isn't his...he just guides people.

I found another brother!
Quote:
You return to the hallway, but this time walk through the south door.
You find yourself in a very precarious room. The walls are lined with every weapon you could imagine and more - swords of every size and shape, axes, crossbows - except you can see no guns. The light reflects off all the blades and light up this room in a very frightening way.
In the centre of the room is a man walking around, admiring all the weapons. He is wearing deep blue robes with an odd square hat on his head, also deep blue. He does not speak, but stops occasionally to pass his hand over a weapon. He does not appear to notice you.
Your move.
I've said hello to him and asked him if he is one of the Smith brothers.

Hmm I'm thinking that maybe there was some time travel involved...I'm thinking the time of knights, kings and magicians right now. Hmm did anyone unknowingly jump into a TARDIS lately. Heeee.
Anyone wondering if the square hat has any significance?
PS Going to mention to the Manse Master that I assumed that he owns the house. I'm still thinking he's the 3rd Smith brother though.

You say to the man, "Hi. Are you one of the Smith brothers?"
"Yes," he replies, in an uninterested voice. He seems more concerned with the weapons he's looking at. "I take it you have met some of my brothers?"
"Yes I have," you say. "What power do you have?"
"I have the power," he replies, "To split and combine two words. For example, if you bring me a plant and grain, I could split the plant into 'pl' and 'ant' and the grain into 'gr' and 'ain', then combine them to make a 'plain' and a 'grant'. Do you have two things you would like me to split and combine?"
Your move.
More interesting powers!

I think the map is pretty much done now that we have the southernmost room. At least until someone gets through the flaming door, magic plants or golden doors.
Sorry coffeegirl, I'm still not exactly sure what you mean about diagonal hallways, heres the description of the hall south of the starting point.
Quote:
You find yourself in a long hallway leading off to several different rooms.
There are doors to the south, south-west, north-west, north-east, and south-east.
I did label the glowing doors though. Just tell me if theres anything else I should label , I'll add it. I think I'm gonna email it to Manse Master to see if he has any input.
I might also try to compile a list of items that can be picked up, since their names seem to be the important piece here. Seeing them all together might spark something for someone.
