The bottles were a 1.
For those who are still questioning the bottles we had also got them wrong when we thought they were a 0 for our first entry. But they are a 1 and here is why. You have to remember back to puzzle 4 with the man floating on the board. He had 6 langauges (0-9) written on his body. People have been able to identify 5 of the 6 but not that 6th one. This langauge was either made up by Volvo or who knows. But that 1 from that set is an "i". A line with a dot. If you look at the left part of the stem (top of the bottle) you will see the "i" clear as day. It is white. The bottles had the number 1 on them all and that is why the bottles were 1. I still am in agreement with everyone else on the ambiguity of the bouy though. I would love for the Volvo people to actually post why it was a 7, but that is just my thoughts.

Another final answer claim (puzzle 21) There is yet another claim, based on a poster from Thailand (the one who was ineligible due to not being Thai), that the final answer is 31117541
I have yet to see anyone definitively say that this is NOT the answer (and it's one of the two that my wife and I came up with, although we submitted 31112541 - figures)[/url]

What was missing? In comparison to last year... You know, there was something missing in the final answer form this year, I think. Everyone who was around last year, please put on your thinking caps and try to think back a year....
On the final answer submission form, didn't we have to once again enter our map number last year?
This year we didn't. Hmmmmmm. If the final correct answer WAS our map number this would make sense. But if it's not....ouch! Can you imagine being the interviewer vetting a possible winner and having to peruse through all the numbers (even if they were in order) to find your interviewee's info?
Maybe I am just not remembering correctly....what do YOU recall?

Re: What was missing? In comparison to last year... Nah. I don't remember having to submit a code last year. All the codes are blackpearl , no? This year they made every map have a unique code to actually get people into the dealerships. Not that I spent more than 10 seconds there. It did get me in the door, though.

Don't know WHAT you mean by "Blackpearl". Last year we DEFINITELY all had unique codes on our maps, just like this year.....though this year I actually had to ASK for a map at the dealership, unlike last year when they were just sitting out in a pile by the door. I *think* I remember them starting with a 9.....well, maybe mine just had a 9 in it. LOL!

Blackpearl Sass,
If I remember correctly, we had to enter our pirate map code at the beginning of last years Hunt in order to register and begin. I remember registering both my and my wife's map to our email accounts. Someone (not having a map) figured out that you could enter "blackpearl" and it would work. We also discovered last year's cycling numbers in this forum and assumed that it was safe for others to use our numbers since there were only 18 or so variants (to hold them over until they got their own map).

Volvo has posted the names of the 21 finalists. Go to the starting hunt site (http://thehunt.volvocars.net/us/ for US) and click on the Winners tab to see who they are. For the US, it's Deborah La Valley.

Anyone know if Volvo is planning on posting the answer? And their explanation for it? 3111 7541 is what I've seen, but besides the fact that the buoy represents the maritime flag for 7, does anyone else have an alternative theory? Or does everyone think that is correct?

She posted here that she won, but nobody believed her. I asked what her answer was, but she never replied back. Her screen name was dlavalle.

Congrats Well congratulations represent well. Don't know if you played last year but we had a lot of people say they were winners and were not so excuse us for doubting you.
It is my belief that you are headed toward the Chatman Islands and that is were the treasure is.
Best of luck on the finals!
